Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be stored in an opaque airtight container made of pure steel. It must not be stored within 50 m of soil or arable land.
No subjects except D-Class personnel are allowed within 5 meters of SCP-XXXX , and it is necessary to quarantine surviving D-Class personnel after testing.
The storage chamber is to be cleaned of dirt and other organic material by D-Class equipped with biohazard protection every 2 days as well as before and after tests are carried out.
An application to store SCP-XXXX in the vicinity of SCP-073 has been submitted to the O5-Council.
Description: SCP-XXXX is an axe of near ordinary appearance, composed of a smooth wooden handle and a serrated steel blade, upon which are engraved several characters of unknown origin.
SCP-XXXX activates upon contact with human skin, or if there is sufficiently complicated mechanical machinery within a radius of 50 cm. Animals are unaffected.
SCP-XXXX also exerts a mild cognitohazardous effect, compelling subjects within sight to touch it.
Upon activation, subjects report hearing a low hum, and a feeling of static from SCP-. If there is soil present within 50 m, the subjects will vanish, and a plant{henceforth referred to as SCP-XXXX-A} will appear in the nearest patch of arable soil.
If soil is not present in the given distance, the subject will not show any change. However after the subject comes within 50 m of soil, the effect takes place, implying that the effect is irreversible. Subjects who have touched SCP-XXXX can be placed in quarantine to prevent the effect from occurring but it as yet unclear as to how long the effect is retained.
Instances of SCP-XXXX-A do not possess any dangerous non anomalous properties, but upon testing their tissues, the DNA of the subject can be found contained in the cells, though it is inert and does not affect SCP-XXXX-A. Another property is that SCP-XXXX-A instances have a much longer lifespan than normal, and are more resilient to damage.
The plants that subjects are transformed into are seemingly chosen at random, with no preference as to a certain genus.
Machinery bought within 50 cm of the plant will crumble to dust, preventing researchers from using drones and other technology to experiment on SCP.
