Item #: SCP-5863

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: [Paragraphs explaining the procedures]

Description: [SCP-5863 is the collective designation for a set of anomalous phenomena that occur between the timeframe of 20:00 AM and 24:00 AM. The subjects of said phenomena will in all cases be members of the human male group, including individuals that identify themselves as male, ranging between the ages of 15 to 23. These events are triggered by specific and highly precise combinations of items and scenarios, introduced to the subject via self-exposure or forced exposure.

SCP-5863-A commences upon initial vieweing of any surface of the fantasy novel "Floodlights" by Javier Moore by the subject. This event is described by a three-stage process, beginning as a gradual shift in the subject's perception of reality, commonly described as "a change in the color of the room."
The second stage begins as the subject is compelled to leave the immediate vicinity of the book. If the subject is unable to immediately terminate visual proximity to the book, they lose consciousness for an allegedly purely random period of time.
In this scenario, once the subject naturally regains consciousness, the event is considered complete (see Incident Report 5863-A-1). If the subject is allowed to leave the immediate proximity of the book, stage 3 of the event is initiated.
All entrances leading into enclosed spaces (rooms or buildings) within a 200 meter radius will spontaneously connect to an extra-dimensional location hereby referred to as SCP-5863-1 (see Addendum 5863-1 for further information).

SCP-5863-B is the designation given to the event which occurs in any residential room that meets the following criteria: 1. Contains at least one bed or any piece of furniture designed for sleep or rest.
2. Contains a nightstand or an appropriately sized flat surface which is elevated
above the ground.
3. Contains one empty drinking container made of either glass or plastic.
Once all the above criteria are met, and the subject meets the originar criteria for SCP-5863 to trigger, the event begins immediately.
The glass container will spontaneously fill with an organic compound indistinguishable from average tap water. (See Experiment Log 5863-1).
In the event that the subject makes visual contact with the glass, a powerful memetic influence is initiated in all humans within a 200 meter radius. Subjects describe this sensation with similar wording to late-stage dehydration. It is important to note that all humans will experience these symptoms, not exclusively the subject in question.
Once the subject has taken the compound into their digestive system, every person in the mentioned 200 meter radius except the individual housing the compound will be transported to SCP-5863-1 via unknown means. The subject will then forcefully regurgitate the liquid.
