July 7, 20██: Written by Dr. Leannon: The squad and I were checking the forest area around ██████ when we encountered the red, putty-like specimen. We sent one of our D-boys to pick it up, but we watched in horror as he melted slowly, screaming and writhing in terror and pain. When the process was done, he was the same as the red putty that infected him. We watched as the two specimens crawled together and joined into one entity, which we now know is not common. We grabbed our yard long, military grade steel tongs and grabbed the specimen. We sent a D-boy to place a metal container underneath the specimen as we held it up 5 feet in the air. Then, we placed the specimen in the jar and closed the lid using the tongs. The D-boy picked up the container and gave it to me. Finally we walked back to the facility.
July 8, 20██: Written by Dr. Leannon: We have taken to researching the specimen. We have confirmed that being within a certain range will cause it to jump out and infect you. We have created a tin to contain the specimen in. We have named it "SCP-4168." Why? Because it is an open number, and we can.
July 10, 20██: Written by Dr. Leannon: We decided to try to see if we could find more, as it does not seem like it is the only one. We have gone out on a search now.
July 11, 20██: Written by Dr. Leannon: We were right. There are more. This time we encountered a yellow putty, and it's range seems to be bigger. We were still able to contain the other SCP-4168. We are taking it to our lab for close examination.
July 23, 20██: Written by Dr. Drakus: Well, Dr. Leannon was infected by a SCP-168-D. He wasn't aware of the extreme range difference D had from A and B. We have found two other types, yes, and we have categorized them all into different sup-specimens. We are still researching and looking for more of them. Dr. Drakus, out.
July 31, 20██: Written by Dr Drakus: We have begun work on building a special unit for SCP-4168. It will be a 4x4x5 room to contain the specimens in. We have placed the tins we have in an empty cell for now, but they will need to be moved out for room. We have also discovered two things, a new sub-species, SCP-4168-C, and we learned that the old SCP-4168-B and C had the same properties. Dr. Drakus, out.
August 5, 20██: Written by Dr. Drakus: We are halfway done with our containment unit. We have also discovered another putty, but we found it has the same properties as SCP-4168-C, so it is considered a C class, too. Dr. Drakus, out.
August 17, 20██: Written by Dr. Brown: Well, Dr. Drakus was promoted to lead scientist, but then soon died when he discovered SCP-4168-E. 4168 is too dangerous for our own good. Luckily, the containment cell has been finished. We built a shelf in the middle, and put tape around the are of infection. We also built a section of shelf above the regular shelf dedicated to the scientists that are infected, putting their tins up there.
August 18, 20██:Written by Dr. Brown: We made a slight mistake. We did not make the room quite big enough for SCP-4168-E, as we did not know of him until now. We are fixing the room now. Luckily we only lost a D-boy.
August 24, 20██:Written by Dr. Brown: We are hopefully done with research for now. We have not encountered any new types, or very many new specimens. Construction has been finished. The room is now bigger. Dr. Brown, out.
