Any new instances of SCP-XXXX being discovered are to be given to the SCP Foundation and destroyed. Under no circumstances is an instance of SCP-XXXX to be grabbed by a human hand. When undergoing testing, a pair of metal tongs are to be used to transport the instance of SCP-XXXX currently contained.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a series of ceramic mugs. SCP-XXXX is unable to be let go of by anyone holding it. While held, SCP-XXXX starts to heat up and will continue to heat up until released, always resulting in the holder's hand being melted and SCP-XXXX being dropped on the floor. SCP-XXXX heats up at an exponential rate, starting with increasing by 5°C per second and later rapidly increasing to ████°C per second after 20 seconds of holding. SCP-XXXX's maximum observed temperature was measured to be █████°C. SCP-XXXX doesn't heat up the air around it, only itself and the person holding it increase in temperature. SCP-XXXX returns to normal temperature as soon as it is released.

Instances of SCP-XXXX continuously get discovered and produced alongside regular mugs. Due to the inability to stop production of SCP-XXXX without stopping mug production as a whole, the unpredictability of SCP-XXXX's production and the fact that instances of SCP-XXXX are visually indistinguishable from regular mugs, SCP-XXXX has earned a Keter rating.

Discovery: The first instance of SCP-XXXX was discovered ██-11-1978 in a ███████ brand warehouse in ████████, Nebraska. An employee was putting up mugs for display. One of the mugs they were putting up was an instance of SCP-XXXX. When the employee grabbed SCP-XXXX to put on display, their hand was melted up to their elbow. The employee was hospitalized for ██ months. 947 instances of SCP-XXXX have been recovered by the SCP Foundation since, as of November 2019.

Addendum: Below is a discontinued version of this article written shortly after SCP-XXXX's discovery, when it was believed that there was only one instance of SCP-XXXX, and no testing had been conducted:
