Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be stored in a standard medium-security locker. Access to SCP-XXXX is restricted to personnel with Level 3 clearance. Personnel assigned to SCP-XXXX must undergo monthly psychological screening to ensure stable moods. No personnel meeting three or more risk factors shall be assigned to SCP-XXXX. (see Addendum XXXX-3)

Since there is no cure for SCP-XXXX-A, treatment through States I-III is limited to palliative care. At the onset of Stage IV, precautions must be taken to ensure the continued survival of SCP-XXXX-1 instances due to erosion of self-preservation instincts. Post-Stage IV subjects are recommended to undergo cognitive restructuring therapy. Current therapy techniques report an average recovery rate of 56% within five years.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a blue composition notebook. A piece of paper with the words "therapy notebook by dado" is crudely taped onto the front cover where the original manufacturer's logo should be.

SCP-XXXX exerts an anomalous effect on certain individuals, hereafter designated SCP-XXXX-1 instances. When writing in the notebook for at least fifteen minutes, SCP-XXXX-1 instances will develop an anomalous neurodegenerative disease hereafter designated SCP-XXXX-A.

SCP-XXXX-A causes rapidly progressing dementia, personality changes, and loss of fine motor skills over a span of three to four weeks.

The course of SCP-XXXX-A infection follows a four-stage progression, as outlined below:

Stage I: Marked by depressed, confused moods. Micrography of central nervous system tissue reveals myelinal degradation akin to Wallerian degeneration. This stage lasts for 3-4 days.

Stage II: Axonal lesioning occurs. Impaired transport inhibits the release of acetylcholine, causing loss of motor control and memory. Deterioration in Broca's area and Wernicke's area causes the development of aphasia¹. This stage lasts for 5-6 days.

Stage III: Continued degradation results in the complete severing of the axon. Subjects exhibit extreme difficulty in motor control and are often confined to the bed or wheelchairs, resorting to crawling and eventually writhing motions of the limbs in efforts to move. Loss of memory eventually results in a form of prosopagnosia². Aphasia has worsened to the point that the infected can only communicate in telegraphic speech³. This stage lasts for 6-8 days.

Stage IV: Wallerian-like degeneration stops. SCP-XXXX triggers a phase of rapid neurogenesis, repairing damaged tissue; however, the damage caused by SCP-XXXX results in the complete dissolution of long-term potentiation. Spinal cord synapses remain unaffected by SCP-XXXX, thus preserving involuntary pathways observed in infants, including the Babinski⁴ and Moro⁵ reflexes. This stage lasts until the end of one's life. However, the pathological changes caused by SCP-XXXX can be gradually repaired with cognitive restructuring therapy over a course of five to ten years.

Addendum XXXX-1: The following entries were found inside SCP-XXXX upon initial discovery. Investigation into these documents for possible risk factors concerning the development of SCP-XXXX-A is underway.

What up world my name is jack stevens (my real name is jacob but all my friends call me jack)!!! I am eleven years old. My birth day is today!!! And thats how i got this notebook (it's not a diary, because diarys are for girls)

I like playing xbox (halo borderlands and minecraft are my favorite games) and skateboarding (but i'm not very good) and going on playdates with my best friends. My best friends are daniel, alex, ben and lucas. We have playdates all the time. I also love my parents a loooooooot! We go hiking together on the weekends and then go to that japanese restaurant by the ocean for lunch. I cant ask for a better mom and dad!

Today I had my eleventh birthday party! It was at the pool by my house. Daniel, Alex, ben, and lucas all came and a couple of other kids from school as well. It was really fun. Also when I was there I saw Sophie grey from school with her parents and sister. Shes in my class. Shes annoying. So when I walked past her I didnt say hi. And she didnt say hi either.

Mom and dad got me some really cool gifts! I got GTA V and Assassins creed IV black flag even though they are rated M and I thought they wouldnt let me play them. But I'm really happy they did! I'm going to play them alot with my friends. And my friends got me very cool presents too. Like for example Ben gave me a new skateboard which is really sick.

Middle school starts in four days and im really excited. I cant wait to show up to all my new classes and see my new friends and teachers and be like "hey whats up world i'm Jack stevens." The world is awsome

• A history of depressive disorders.
• Social isolation.
• Recent emotional trauma.
• Substance abuse.
• Repeated thoughts/feelings of nostalgia.
• An obsession with one's childhood.
