Box of Sandpaper

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be left in a personal storage room that is completely air-tight with the walls, floor, ceiling, and any exit points smoothed out. At 11:50 P.M. every day, personnel must enter the room, shutting the door the came through immediately, and place a coarse object next to the box that contains XXXX, referred to as SCP-XXXX-17. The personnel must leave as soon as the object has been dropped off. Twenty minutes later, the object, referred to as SCP-XXXX-18, must be picked up and sent to an on-site laboratory to be examined.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a collection of 15 pieces of sandpaper all of different grits ranging from 40-grit to 1000-grit. Each piece is a seemingly random strength in between, and each are labeled SCP-XXXX-1 to -15 (numbered from least to greatest grit). Every piece of sandpaper is contained within a 54cm x 36cm x 18cm cardboard box which is open by the top flaps.

On the outside of -16, the words [REDACTED] are printed, along with a picture of a smiling man holding his thumb up. The existence of such an organization has not been proven yet.

Surrounding the box is a pile of dust, consisting of wood and various metals, including iron, tin, titanium, copper, and gold.

At midnight exactly each night, the sandpaper selects the coarsest item in the room (excluding itself but including the table it sits on, the walls, ceiling, floor, and the door) and instantly make the object much smoother (see experiment log). Typically, the surface is sanded down by at least 1 cm, with a few exceptions (see experiment log).

SCP-XXXX was recovered in an abandoned warehouse in [REDACTED], Nebraska. The object was discovered by the police near the warehouse when a mangled body was discovered inside the building. It was given to the Foundation after ██ officers had died when containing the box.
