SCP-4031

Item #: SCP-4031

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4031 is to be kept on a 19th century styled naval bed contained within a room styled after a common 3rd Class Cabin of an ocean liner of the Edwardian era. Due to the anomalous nature of SCP-4031-2, all guards guarding SCP-4031 (Level 3) are to not enter the containment area at any time as not to negatively effect SCP-4031-2. All class D-personnel testing SCP-4031 are not to be informed of it's anomalous effects as not to initiate the cognitive effects related to SCP-4031. The door to the containment chamber is to be locked by an administrator level keycard as not to effect SCP-4031-2 at anytime. Administrator permission is required in order to enter the containment chamber. All guests visiting SCP-4031 must wear a Project TITAN headset as not to allow the cognitive effects of SCP-4031 to effect any personnel.

Object Description: SCP-4031 is a white cork padded life jacket with the White Star Line insignia stamped on the top right corner of the front side of the jacket. When within a 2 meter radius from SCP-4031, the subjects will experience hallucinations and extreme fear for their life, thus causing them to wear SCP-4031. Upon completing the final knot on the side of the jacket, the subject will anonymously disappear, only to return 2 and a half hours later wearing different clothing and experiencing extreme retrospective amnesia about before they came in contact with SCP-4031. The clothing of the subjects consist of lower class clothing of early 1900s Europe, however, type may vary. The origin of these clothing isn't completely understood yet, but further testing is currently underway as to discover where.

Object Origin: April, 20, 1912

SCP-4031 was discovered by a salvage ship salvaging the wreckage of the R.M.S TITANIC, which sank 5 days before the object was discovered. Later that day a few crew members of the ship decided to joke around with each other and one dared the other to put on SCP-4031. The crew member then went to the forward deck and when within 2 meters of it he quickly picked it up and ran down to the galley where the other men were located. The crew members reported that he was hyperventilating and that he was in an extreme panic yelling that the ship is sinking. He then quickly put it on and as soon as he finished tying the final tightening strings, he vanished. The other crew members thought that it was some sort of prank, so they started searching the ship for him. They returned to the bridge and told the captain that the crew member disappeared, a serch party was then established. 2 and a half hours later, the crew member reappeared in the galley and was near death. He was breathing heavily, extremely pale and there was what appeared to be a bullet wound in his chest. He was discovered by another crew member, he told the crew member that he didn't know who he was and was extremely confused. He was rushed to the infirmary where a doctor attempted to treat his wounds only to have the crew member die within a few moments of operation. It was discovered that the crew member died of blood loss due to the bullet wound which seemed to be caused by a revolver shot from a standard issue White Star Line officers revolver. Thankfully an agent was on sight for expedition of the wreckage site. the agent immediately contacted the foundation about the life jacket. MTF unit EPSILON 11 (Nine Tailed Fox) later arrived where they terminated the entire crew of the vessel. The vessel was taken into custody of the foundation and SCP-4031 originally stayed on the vessel until it was relocated to Site [REDACTED].

Test Results:

The object has been tested and results are the same with all test subjects. The subject will come within 2 meters fearing their life and ramble about the Site sinking. They will put on SCP-4031 and disappear after they have finished tying the last knot. They will then disappear from existence. Their accounts of the events in the unknown dimension recall them standing in the room of a 3rd Class cabin with water gathering on the floor. The subject then runs through the door and goes down a hall. They will turn left at the end of the hall and run up a flight of stairs until they reach an exit door. They will find that they are aboard the R.M.S. TITANIC and it is April, 15, 1912 and the ship is sinking. They are amidst the chaos of the sinking. If they are a female subject, they will be ushered into a life boat where they are saved by the R.M.S CARPATHIA 2 and a half hours later. If they are male, they will either be shot by an officer, or die from hypothermia. The outcome of males is determined by their age and their past experiences with the law. If they have a bad past with law enforcement, they will be shot, and if they do not have a bad past with law enforcement, they will not. After 2 and a half hours, the subject will return to the normal dimension experiencing acute retrospective amnesia about their life before wearing SCP-4031. The subject then becomes known as SCP-4031-2. If the subject has been shot, they will die immediately. If the subject has hypothermia, they must be treated by a doctor in the containment chamber immediately. If the subject is female, she may be questioned for further understanding of SCP-4031, however they may only be questioned for up to 2 and a half hours before they start to age extremely rapidly and die from age within 5 to 15 minutes. The same goes for males that survive. The skeletons are then to be disposed of by a HAZMAT team and SCP-4031 is to be placed back on the bed for further testing.
