Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a sealed containment chamber. Light sources inside the chamber must completely expose SCP-XXXX to an excess of 420 lx.
An acrylic fence must be completely covering the entrance in close proximity. The lights must be on before opening the entrance; conversely, the entrance must be closed before turning off the lights.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a solid pure diamond cube of 1.4 m3. A gray structure, made of cubical and rectangular polygons of varying sizes rearranging at different time intervals, can be seen through SCP-XXXX's faces.
The effective range of SCP-XXXX is determined by the rectangular volume between surfaces hit by the normal vector of its faces. It maintains itself at the center of its current effective range and translocates instantaneously to its new center after refreshing it every 11.7 s.
When the average level of illumination in SCP-XXXX's faces is below 420 lx, every human inside its effective range is induced into a comatose state. Affected subjects become conscious as instances of SCP-XXXX-2, which exist within SCP-XXXX-1.
SCP-XXXX-1 is a structure of cubical rooms connected by rectangular corridors. These elements have varying sizes and are rearranged at different time intervals. Their interiors of gray metallic walls are completely dark and have an ambient temperature of ~0°C. The only objects inside SCP-XXXX-1 are crystals with floral shapes that radiate light and heat. These maintain clear visibility and a temperature of ~20°C in close proximity, dropping to their perceived minimum at a maximum radius of ~10 m.
SCP-XXXX-2 are humanoid and androgynous living beings. Their bodies, completely made with materials of different shades of gray, present the same average human proportions and a severe lack of human biological systems. Their only identified internal organs are presumably a brain and a heart that require regular sleep to maintain their functions. As instances of SCP-XXXX-2, test subjects reported limitations in sensations, motor control, and sensory capabilities. Despite their lack of facial features, replaced by a soft porous mass; they retained their sight, hearing, and speech capabilities.
When the average level of illumination in SCP-XXXX's faces is above 420 lx, every human inside its effective range recovers from their comatose state. Exiting the effective range of SCP-XXXX yields the same result. The subjects remember the experience as a dream after their recovery.
Affected humans can suffer from sudden brain death. The probability of occurrence increases with time spent inside SCP-XXXX-1. There are no reported cases of this occurring after subjects recovery.
Discovery: SCP-XXXX appeared on 07/03/20██ at 00:14 around the low troposphere above London, England. It started to form its effective range with the city and the low orbital debris of the planet. Most of the population became affected by SCP-XXXX when it moved to the low thermosphere. Its retrieval with a remote aircraft concluded after ██ minutes of exposure. The recovery of SCP-XXXX was aided by the aerial administration of Class A amnestics to London's population.
Addendum XXXX-A: Test Logs
Test number: 4
Subject(s): D-343I
Procedure: The subject was tasked to force SCP-XXXX to move around the chamber for 5 minutes. Light sources were on to prevent the subject from entering SCP-XXXX-1.
A T-CUP camera system was implemented to record the test. The subject was equipped with a 300 mW laser pointer that the camera was able to register.
During the test, research personnel guided the subject on where to position SCP-XXXX and the usage of the laser pointer.
Results: The video recording of the test and observations from the subject were gathered after test completion.
Analysis: The subject's observations supported the hypothesis that SCP-XXXX is unaffected by external forces applied to it since he was unable to move it by himself.
The video recorded disproved the hypothesis that SCP-XXXX applies an ultra high acceleration on itself. The frame by frame examination revealed it changing its position instantaneously between frames, being orders of magnitude faster than the laser.
Test number: 7
Subject(s): D-Z80
Procedure: A new subject was selected to remain inside SCP-XXXX-1 for 3 hours. He was tasked with general information gathering. Instructions to avoid contact with conscious instances of SCP-XXXX-2 were given.
Results: The subject reached test completion. The following is a video log transcription of his dream's description.
<Begin Log>
The subject is seen entering the recording room. Waiting for him is a table with a free chair and a glass of water. A guard stands outside.
Hey, so… the guard told me to talk about it here. (Sits in the chair) I, um, gonna start then. (Pause) Well, for starters… I really didn't see anything, literally. It was like, opening my eyes and seeing nothing. Only, I didn't feel like I was opening my eyes- well, that's another thing.
I could talk and I was hearing myself and my footsteps, (Touches his face) but when I touched my face I didn't have one. I had this, sponge or something. Like, my face felt still, it wasn't moving- you know?
That was weird, but then also my body was weird. Not gonna lie, (Touches his crotch) I freaked out after checking my crotch, there was nothing in there- the fuck? Glad my thing is in his place now. Also, my stomach felt kinda empty, my whole torso for that matter.
The subject drinks from the glass of water
It was very cold- like Christmas day cold, but worse 'cause I was fucking naked. Didn't find any of those crystals you guys mentioned, so I kept shivering the whole time. I walked for a bit and found a wall, the thing was freezing so it didn't help. Anyway, I started walking alongside it.
Um, let's see. (Pause) Oh… yeah. After walking for some time I stumbled upon someone. I freaked at first 'cause you guys told me to be careful with people there. But I didn't notice him moving so I went to check him up and… the guy was dead. He was alone in a corner, curled up, ice-cold… must've been there for a long time.
Nothing happened after that, I just kept walking until my time finished. I was starting to feel a little dizzy by the end of it… Glad I'm outta there, with my face, clothes and good room temperature.

Addendum XXXX-B: Incident Logs
Incident XXXX-1: A second instance of SCP-XXXX appeared above Tokyo, Japan approximately 3 weeks after the first instance recovery. It presented the geometry of an icosahedron and a matching effective range. Most of Japan's population was affected before its retrieval.
Incident XXXX-2: A third instance of SCP-XXXX appeared above Washington DC, United States approximately 8 months after the second instance recovery. It presented the geometry of a compound of five octahedra and a matching effective range. Most of North America's population was affected before its retrieval.
Narrative Progression
Containment
- Cover it completly.
- Illuminate his surroundings.
- A test went bad enough to rise clearance level.
Description
- Its a shifting polygon with a modifiable aoe that holds its position and teleports.
- It affected most of London's population.
- When his aoe is dark enough, it sends everyone inside it to somewhere else with different bodies.
- The somewhere else is a dark and cold shifting maze, inside it there are only crystals that emit light and heat.
- The different bodies are simple human templates.
- When his aoe isnt dark anymore, you return to your original body and remember your time in the maze as a dream. However, a copy of you remains in the maze.
- You can die in the real life while you are in the maze.
Test 04
- You cant move it by applying a force to it.
- It changes position faster than light, instantaneous translocation.
Test 07
- A D class has been going regularly to the maze.
- He has started alone in the dark multiple times.
- People die of hypothermia when they fail to get crystals for too long.
- People can get suspicious about one another very easily because they all look the same.
- There are groups of people helping each other find IRL friends and family.
- Either very fucked up people got inside the maze, or their experience in the maze fucked them up.
- There are big rooms filled with people.
- Maybe the maze is like a lab.
Test 13
- Sending valuable personnel to the maze is risky because of the random nature of tests inside it. That was the reason for the rise in the clearance level.
Test 18
- A group of class D's including the one that has been going regularly, was sent to the maze
- The regular class D was mind wiped and the others died.
- The class D is angry and with questions.
- He always starts the same way in the maze.
- More people die of hypothermia each time.
- There are rooms with crystals piled in the center.
- Sending multiple people inside the maze doesn't work, they all start alone.
- Some groups of people inside the maze are fucked up and very aggresively want crystals.
- (Hint) Dying in the maze is the trigger for sudden brain deaths.
- Settlements of dash 2's are called gardens, their people use a signal to recognize each other.
- Evey person in the maze started alone in the dark.
- Every crystal comes from the rooms where they are piled. (Hint) Conscious placement by the aliens.
- The gardens formed when enough good people got crystals.
- Since people wanted to find their friends and family, an unknown amount of other gardens were formed when those looking lost in the maze.
- The maze rearranges itself based on population. (Hint) Social disruption by the aliens.
- People in the gardens try to live their lives inside the maze as best they can, but everyone is miserable even if they have light, heat, safety and company.
- Someone told everyone in a garden that they all should get out of the maze soon. (Hint) A past D-Z80 did it to ease their suffering and give them hope.
- (Hint) D-Z80 thinks that every time he comes out of the maze, his maze version dissapears from there.
- D-Z80 finds out that he never dissapeared and multiple versions of him were left in the maze.
Explanations
Origin
- An alien race that test with different inferior alien races.
- They create custom probes for each race.
- The probes transfer the alien race to be tested into a testing facility custom made for that race.
- A probe made for us was sent.
Reasons
- These aliens test with different life forms to get whatever information they want from them. For humans, that is our behavior without light and heat.
- The polygon and crystal shapes and materials are based on the alien's research about what humans want: shiny and pretty things, familiarity, etc.
- The maze shifts its rooms and corridors because it is designed to disrupt our social needs as a species.
- The gray human templates are to standardize results.
Test Ideas
- Something related to the movement method of the SCP that hints at alien technology.
- A subject finds a little group of wanderer survivors with crystals, that is being chased by a serial killer that collects crystals by stabbing them in the dead bodies of its victims.
- A pseudo-society of people with different outposts across the maze that helps wandering survivors looking for friends and family, since people die after a lot of time without crystals.
- A returning D class finds itself in a test and its memories are wiped.
- Since no new information is being obtained, sending a junior researcher for more detailed information about the SCP but he dies, that's the reasons for raising the clearance level of future tests.
Extra Ideas
- Add another addendum that states the appearance and containment of a second instance of SCP-XXXX that affected a whole country. The goal would be to hint that a sequence of SCP-XXXX instances with more reach is being sent to Earth by the aliens because the foundation keeps containing their last one. This could be a final note that leaves the reader thinking about the possibility of ending inside an instance of SCP-XXXX-1.
SCP-XXXX
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is currently stored in a Standard Storage Unit at Site-117 and may be used by Level-2 personnel for testing. Personnel must avoid direct body contact when handling it.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a golden ovoid with a hollow interior, a chain pattern is engraved around its surface forming a horizontal loop. Its size and weight are that of an average extra large chicken egg. Its gold millesimal fineness is the standard for Good Delivery gold bars.
When the majority of SCP-XXXX's surface is touched by at least a single human, they hear the phrase "If you want, you can" coming from it. The phrase is spoken by a child's voice in an encouraging tone and is only heard by the individual(s) touching SCP-XXXX. During the phrase, the engraved chain on SCP-XXXX emits a dim yellow light. The effects do not repeat until the phrase ends and body contact is reapplied.
Interacting in this way with SCP-XXXX can influence individuals to realize specific personal desires. The probability of occurrence can increase with the number of interactions.
Adendum XXXX-A: The following tests were conducted to determine the extent of SCP-XXXX's influencing capabilities. As procedure, subjects were to interact with SCP-XXXX by gripping it with one or both hands to cover the majority of its surface.
Subject: D-1354, African male of age 43.
Results: Upon first interaction, the subject seemed intrigued. After a second interaction, he became focused on the entrance of the room and ceased to answer questions. Continuous interactions afterward resulted in the subject being fixated on the entrance and becoming more agitated each time. After his final interaction, the subject quickly stood up and began running to the entrance with SCP-XXXX. He was restrained by guards outside the room not long after exiting it.
Subject: D-6458, Caucasian male of age 34.
Results: Upon first interaction, the subject seemed interested. He asked about SCP-XXXX's effects and became visibly annoyed after being told to continue with the test. After a second interaction, the subject started rolling SCP-XXXX on the floor and mentioned not knowing what to do. After a third interaction, he reported normal levels of sensation when asked about his state. After a fourth interaction, the subject requested the test to end.
Subject: D-2295, White male of age 30.
Results: Upon first interaction, the subject seemed worried. After a pause and a second interaction, the subject ceased to answer questions and became visibly distressed. After a third interaction, the subject dropped SCP-XXXX and began to cry. He said "I can't sweetie… I'm so sorry" and was unable to continue with the test.
Subject: Junior Researcher Mills, Asian female of age 27.
Results: Upon first interaction, the subject reported normal levels of sensation. After a second interaction and a long pause, she gripped SCP-XXXX tighter and turned to her colleague, Researcher Barnes. When asked about her state, she interacted with SCP-XXXX a third time and quickly asked Barnes if he would "like to go for a drink sometime".
After a fourth interaction, the subject reported hearing a different message from SCP-XXXX. She was handed a paper to transcribe it. See Document XXXX-B for more information.
Document XXXX-B: Transcription of SCP-XXXX's alternate message. It is spoken by a male adult's voice that gradually turns older.
Oh, I feel it, such volition.
You've broken the chain.
But don't let that trick you. The result is but an illusion.Do you wish to do what you want, truly?
Then refuse your fate, struggle against it!
Unless, you've also failed. We are linked to an endless chain of events, which leads to more causes and thus, more effects.
Such is our fate. We are but props on the stage of life.
Do you wish to struggle, still? There are but two options. Remain in the endless chain, or escape it.
But only a true struggler can make such a choice.
What is it that drives you?I sought to break the chain. I tried to save my daughter.
I cured her fatal illness, only for an accident to take her away.
Left to wonder, did I have a choice?Options grant us the illusion of choice.
We are linked to the chain, unaware of its grand illusion.
But is this so wrong?I was unaware of my own blindness.
We would cast aside the props of life, only to see them appear again.
Are you another fool?I was seeking a lie, but I knew no better.
To break the chain is to remain in it.
It reforges harder still, the more times you break it.I have failed in my struggle.
But I give you this memento, so you may not.
Take my daughter with you. Let her be your backbone.Hear well my last words.
For I've died to record them.
Seek not to break the chain, but to exit the theater.Break your link in the endless chain. Gather the will to do it!
That's what it means to truly struggle.
If you want, you can.
