Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be attached to a Cessna Citation Longitude aircraft contained in a 9x9 meter crate in a sealed storage facility in Site- ██. Under no circumstance should the aircraft containing SCP-XXXX be used for flight.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a digital device with a screen surrounded by a plastic frame attached to the back of a single seat on board a Cessna Citation Longitude luxury aircraft. The phrase "Experience the better you." is engraved on the top of the plastic frame. SCP-XXXX, along with the aircraft containing it, was recovered in a storage facility traced back to Marshall, Carter, and Dark Ltd. Upon recovery, the craft was notably dirty, with cushioning ripped from several seats, with dozens of glass shards lining the floor of the walkways. The aircraft that SCP-XXXX appears to have no anomalous properties unrelated to SCP-XXXX.

A power button is located on the bottom of the plastic frame, which appears to only function if the aircraft containing it is in motion in the air. Once a user pushes the button, their body will go limp, and they will begin to experience a series of hallucinations. The first vision will always involve a short "safety demonstration", given by a young woman in a typical flight attendant uniform, though no company branding is seen on the outfit. After the demonstration, the user will be given full control of what it calls the "simulation."

Inside the simulation, the user will appear to be in the same aircraft, with a few notable differences. The seats remain clean, there are no shards of glass on the floor, and repeated searches confirmed the notes found on the plane initially are no longer there. Individuals who were on the plane that did not press the button, including foundation personnel, are typically seen in this "mirror plane" as well. Questioning these individuals has led to little discovery. The user will continue to experience this setting with all five of their senses until the original plane has either landed or until the user is killed inside of this simulation.

We have a few things to go over, and they are really important! The number one rule to remember is that while what you see isn't actually really, you CAN feel it! So unless you're prepared to experience the pain of getting shot, you probably shouldn't mess with the police! If at ANY point, you feel unsafe or wish to exit the simulation? It's easy!"

00:47: Flight Attendant: "You simply have to kill yourself! I know that sounds bad, but trust us, it's entirely safe. Our recommended ways of death are long falls, quick-acting chemicals, such as Cyanide or Arsenic, or other fast, less painful methods. If, of course, no painless methods are available to you, simply grab the nearest sharp object, and go for the head. Most likely, you will lose control of your body before you go brain dead, and thus, will spend quite a while before death. Please note that if you are in the simulation with several passengers, we recommend killing children or otherwise less able-bodied passengers first, before getting to yourself. This will ensure you all arrive out of the simulation safely and around the same time. Thank you, and enjoy Experiencing the Better You!"

Steve Breathman tried to use the device to get to "be like Mad Max." Well, he got shot nearly immediately, and ran into a bug I can't believe I hadn't found yet. Apparently, getting the alternate killed can leave you in a sort of "temporary oblivion" until the plane lands. I found a fix for it, and it also solves the problem of having no quick way out of the simulation like Susana complained about.

Alright, alright. I know. This is "exactly what you warned me about." Whatever. Apparently some jackass was using this to see his dead son, the plane landed in the middle of it, and he went apeshit. Looking back on the logs it looks like he was about to hug him. Seriously, dude? You get a full conversation with your dumb kid and you still go nuts because you couldn't get a HUG? The following document was found in the cushions of the seat behind SCP-XXXX. It appears to have been written hastily with pencil.

Hey, "Dad", if I can even call you that. I'm sick of it. I'm done. I know you thought it was really important to you that you made all that money and did all that coke, but you ruined your son's life in the process. We never went camping, we never… did ANYTHING a dad and a son would do. You made me miss all the good parts of my childhood and you added so many bad parts. Well, hopefully, this ruins the rest of yours. I'm killing myself, dad. It's your fault. You never even bothered to fucking hug me.

In-Flight Entertainment Concept

The core idea for this SCP is that the Foundation has recovered a plane containing an experimental in-flight entertainment system that allows the (typically wealthy) user to view and control alternative versions of themselves through a sort of “virtual consciousness.” This is usually used in order to do things such as meet loved ones that have died, or even try out business deals in order to see how certain people would react to certain offers. The Foundation found this SCP inside an abandoned warehouse, and quickly found the device only works while actually in-flight. The Foundation also notes that the only alternative universe it seems to be able to access is one where, as far as the Foundation can tell, the world is exactly the same. All personnel who attempted to use it found themselves in the exact same location, and sitting down in the plane, the only exception being that the In-flight Entertainment machine was entirely non-functional. The seats of the plane were torn up and tossed around when it was salvaged.. Notes from MC&D corporation (using their GOI format) were found on the inside of the doors to the plane, which document the history of the device.. It was installed in late 2002, and it was rather successful for quite a while, until a few important failures occurred. Several mundane uses of the device are noted , such as an owner of a diamond mine using it to have a talk with his late father about how he has made his family proud. The first incidence of importance is when a Tech CEO use the device in order to live out his fantasies of having to survive in a Mad Max-style apocalypse. He died in the Virtual Consciousness shortly after arriving, and when that happened, he experienced a temporary oblivion until the plane landed. MC&D note that they had to install a failsafe that would pull the user out if their alternate self died while under the user’s control. MC&D also mentions a failsafe they had to add so that the simulation software did not function while in control of an alternate self in order to prevent recursion. The final incident of importance is when a businessman paid for a ticket with the last of his money and attempted to use the device to apologize to his son, who had killed himself after the father ignored him for most of his childhood. He was able to successfully meet up with his son, but due to the fact he didn’t neglect his son in this universe, the son is just confused as his father tries to be sentimental. The son finally agrees to give his father a hug, but right before it could commence, the plane landed, and the simulation ended. The businessman then attacked the nearest flight attendant before being shot to death by plane security.
The sons suicide note was found in the cushions of the seat, which notably mentions that the buisnessman “never even bothered” to give his son a hug.
