SCP-XXXX at recovery, still attached to the box it was first found on and plugged into the battery pack. The box and battery pack were both deemed nonanomalous and disposed of.

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a standard Safe object container at Site-28, as far away as possible from Test Chamber 52. Test Chamber 52 is to be sealed shut to ensure continued containment of the last known SCP-XXXX-2 instance and checked weekly for cracks or failing lockdown mechanisms. POI-XXXX is to be captured on sight and detained at the nearest Foundation facility.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a module of unknown origin, with an exterior comprised of black polymer casing, wire ports, and a series of small lights a single button on the side. The exact material the casing is made up of is unclear, as samples have been proven impossible to take due to the durability of the casing and the risk of damaging the inner workings of SCP-XXXX. X-Ray imaging has shown SCP-XXXX to possess multiple internal components similar to Scranton Reality Anchors and Xyank-Anastankos Constant Temporal Sinks, including some which would damage or destroy their respective devices if removed. However, SCP-XXXX does not possess an internal power source.

The primary function of SCP-XXXX has been determined to be inter-timeline travel, achieved by opening portals to alternate timelines, designated SCP-XXXX-2. If SCP-XXXX is powered and the button located on it is pressed, the lights on the device will begin to light up in sequence. Once all lights are lit, a SCP-XXXX-2 instance will be created within two meters of the device. Any matter traveling through the instance will be transported to a random alternate timeline, and able to return through without negative effects. Instances were previously shown to cease with the deactivation of SCP-XXXX.(See Incident XXXX-170419.) SCP-XXXX-2 instances can be observed by the destruction of space immediately around the instance.

Since Incident XXXX-170419, all generated SCP-XXXX-2 instances have been highly unstable, as well as too small in size for humans to pass through.

Relevant Incidents:

Incident XXXX-170419:
During a routine test of SCP-XXXX in Test Chamber 52, the device was activated as per normal procedure. However, an SCP-XXXX-2 instance was created immediately after activation, as opposed to after the normal delay, and four individuals immediately appeared through the instance. One individual was attempting to stab another and was forcefully incapacitated by site security, while a third was suffering from what was determined to be a gunshot wound and immediately escorted to the site infirmary. The fourth was tagged by site security systems as POI-KRONOS-6, Black Queen Archimedes, and surrendered themselves to site security and let themselves be escorted to an interrogation room. Three of the individuals were wearing uniforms not matching any known military, an all four were interrogated following the evacuation of Test Chamber 52. The SCP-XXXX-2 instance did not fully cease after the deactivation of SCP-XXXX, and instead appeared to enter a dormant state previously unseen.

Incident XXXX-190419
During repairs being made to the Test Chamber wing of Site-28, the SCP-XXXX-2 instance in Test Chamber 56 appeared to reactivate, despite no changes being made to the instance.
