Special Containment Procedures: Due the immobile nature of SCP-5518, Area 518 has been constructed around it. No personnel are permitted to enter the interior of SCP-5518 or SCP-5518-1, unless part of an exploration team or with clearance from two senior researchers. Any personnel attempting to enter SCP-5518 without permission are to be reassigned and amnesticized accordingly.

Description: SCP-5518 is a residential building, estimated to be 350m tall, located approximately 3.7km northwest from the peak of Mount Bona, Alaska. Most of SCP-5518 is submerged under the snow, with only the top 10 stories visible above ground. Results from Exploration-5518-1 confirmed the number of floors to be 85, including the lobby, however the majority of floors in SCP-5518 are inaccessible. The staircase of SCP-5518 is accessible, except for floor 57. Each floor is believed to have only 10 rooms per floor, consistent with standard high density skyscraper apartments. All windows, even ones on the base floor, show nothing but a wall of rock, standard for something underground.

Addendum 5518-A: On July 16th, ████, an exploration of the inside of SCP-5518 was conducted. The exploration led to the discovery of SCP-5518-1.

Goal Of Exploration: Learning the basic interior of SCP-5518.

D-40752 is a 33-year old Caucasian male of average build with a history of depression. Designated as Class D for several counts of tax evasion and fraud, and for involvement in the attempted assassination of Senator [REDACTED] of [REDACTED]. D-40572 is equipped with a 35 watt flashlight, an audio headset to maintain contact, and a camcorder strapped to the left shoulder with a transmission stream. Dr. ████ was assigned to monitor the exploration at control. D-40752 begins exploration outside the window of Floor 74, wearing a Foundation D-Class padded jacket.

Dr. ████: D-40752, is your audio and flashlight working?

D-40752 flickers the flashlight on and off, the light shining onto the snow.

D-40752: Yeah, I can hear you. Flashlight works too.

Dr. ████: Good, now please enter through the window onto the stairwell.

D-40752 steps forward into SCP-5518 onto the platform connected to Floor 74. The stairwell is made of concrete, painted white. The stairs and railings are metallic, covered in light gray paint that is beginning to chip away. All lights are off inside of SCP-5518, only lit from external light. D-40752 turns on his flashlight and reports a massive temperature drop.

D-40752: Should I head up or down the stairs?

Dr. ████: Go down the stairs as swiftly as possible. We wish to see the base..

D-40752 proceeds to descend the staircase, noting that it is completely empty. The paint of the walls is noticeably chipping off the further down D-40752 is. D-40752 stops at the landing of the 58th floor.

Dr. ████: Reason for stopping?

D-40752: Stairs are blocked off.

D-40752's camera pans to a large obstruction of rubble and ice, coating the staircase. Dr. ████ instructs D-40752 to go through the door on the 58th floor. D-40752 turns 180 degrees and reaches for the handle on the door. D-40752 turns the handle, and walks into the hallway of Floor 58.

Dr. ████: Please continue through the hall until you reach another staircase.

D-40752: Alright, let's get this over with.

D-40752 walks approximately 5 meters forward before falling. D-40752's camera shows D-40752 fall through one floor.

D-40752: Son of a [EXPLETIVE], I think my ankle's sprain.

Dr. ████: Please walk back to the staircase.

D-40752: Seriously? My ankle's sprain and I still gotta go through with this?

Dr. ████: Please walk back to the staircase.

D-40752 limps over to the staircase and opens it, showing a large obstructing mass of rubble blocking the way up to the 58th floor. D-40752 begins to express concern that he is trapped, Dr. ████ responds by trying to reassure D-40752 that someone will be sent down to clear out the obstruction. D-40752 continues down the stairs, stopping at the base of the 9th floor

Dr. ████: Reason for stopping?

D-40752: I heard something…

Dr. ████: Please describe what you heard.

D-40752: It sounds like… wind. I heard wind. It's a hell of a strong breeze.

Dr. ████: Which direction did the noise come from?

D-40752: Sounds like it's below me.

Dr. ████: Thank you, continue on.

D-40752: It also feels much colder than it was a few floors ago. I feel as if I could freeze to death down here.

Dr. ████: Can you give an estimate?

D-40752: Below 0 degrees, I really hope you're gonna pull me out before I freeze to death.

Dr. ████: We plan to. Please continue to the base floor.

D-40752 continues down the stairs stopping at the 2nd floor, shivering. The camera shows D-40752 running over to a wooden balcony, facing an exit from SCP-5518 that is one floor below it.

D-40752: I see a light. A door. To the outside.

Dr. ████:Are you on the lobby floor?

D-40752: I'm on the floor above it.

Dr. ████: Please describe the first floor.

D-40752: It looks like, like a hotel lobby… There's a checkout desk, some chairs, one of those luggage carrier things, whatever the hell they're called.


D-40752: I see a newspaper on the floor near a chair. No person, which is kinda odd.

Dr. ████: Please go receive the newspaper.

D-40752: Alright.

D-40752 is believed to have began shivering at this point, and walked onto the base floor. D-40752 proceed to cross the lobby, but is ordered to stop infront of the exit door. Light from outside pours into the lobby, and wind can be heard blowing. D-40752's voice begins shaking,

D-40752: Jesus, that's a lot of wind. Why do I gotta stop?

Dr. ████: The camera is unable to make out what's on the other side of the light, please describe it for us.

D-40752: Yeah, sure. It looks like a city, I can't really see past a couple of buildings. Maybe they're skyscrapers. There's some old cars, they aren't moving, but they're there. No one, no animals, nothing. There are some trees without leaves, and it looks like it's day. There's some snow and ice on the ground, so it may be winter or early spring. I can't tell what city it is, and no names are on the buildings. Feels like a stock image, just without a watermark.

Tesca: Mic working?

Veil: Think so.

Tesca: Command, mics coming through?

Command: Yes, you are both coming through.

Tesca: Good. Outside temperature is 14 degrees Celsius

Agent Tesca and Agent Veil enter SCP-5518 via the window on Floor 74. Both pause to adjust headlights.

Veil: Temperature readings inside SCP-5518 is coming in at 10 degrees Celsius.

Command: Understood, Tesca, please walk up the stairs. Open any hall doors possible. Veil, stay put.

Tesca: Alright.

Agent Tesca walks up the stairs to Floor 75, stopping at the door. Tesca attempts to open the door, finding the handle to be jammed. Tesca continued up to Floor 76, and attempts to open the door as well. The door is similarly jammed. Record of all door attempts can be found in File 7584D. Agent Tesca proceeded to walk back to Floor 74.

Command: Agent Veil, please continue with Agent Tesca down to Floor 73.

Veil: Understood.

Agent Tesca and Agent Veil walk down the stairs to Floor 73, Veil stops three steps before reaching the landing.

Veil: Do you hear that? It sounds like… a man. A man talking.

Tesca: I'm not hearing anything.

Command: Open the door to Floor 73, see if you can find the source.

Veil reaches to open the door, finding the door to be stuck in place. After applying more pressure, the door falls flat into the hall of the 73rd floor, revealing an empty hall with ten rooms. Veil runs down to room 7306, opening the door. Tesca stood in the doorway as Veil turned the corner. Human talking can be heard from inside the room.

Command: Tesca, temperature reading?

Tesca: 9.7 degrees Celsius.

Veil: Damn. No people, just a TV. Playing some television show.

Agent Tesca walked towards Agent Veil, who was staring at the screen of a old Motorola television. Both stood for a couple of seconds, watching the television broadcast. The screen showed the title card for "The Twilight Zone", however the screen doesn't change. Audio was still playing, but the show was unrecognizable.

Tesca: Command, when did the first Twilight Zone come out?

Command was silent for a few seconds.

Command: The first broadcast was October 2nd, 1959.

Veil: So we know it's at least 1959. It's past October 2nd, 1959.

Command: Do you see any calendars? Newspapers?

Tesca: Yeah I found one in a basket. Main headline reads "Famed General and President Dwight D. Eisenhower found dead". Did he die in office?

Veil: Don't think so. When was the paper written?

Tesca: March 30th, 1959. Died of… heart failure.

Veil: Fairly certain Eisenhower didn't die in 1959. Did you misread it?

Command: Repeat what date it says on the newspaper.

Tesca: March 30th, 1959. Found collapsed on the ground of the Oval Office.

Veil: Wait a minute, how is the TV on? I thought the power was out."

Tesca reaches over to a lightswitch, noticing it's already flipped up. He pushes it down, but nothing changes. Veil walks into the kitchen, trying to turn on the lightswitch in there. No lights turn on, despite the bulbs still being in place.

Veil: I found an advert for a Motorola television. It says it runs on a "High quality generator".

Command: Grab it. If you can lift and carry it, we'll recall you.

Tesca: Alright.

Tesca grabbed the left side of the television, finding it much lighter than expected. Veil grabbed the advertisement and the newspaper, and walked out of the room. Tesca followed behind, carrying the television in both hands

Command: Veil, temperature?

Veil: Still 9.7 degrees.

Command: Alright. Come back up.

Tesca: Are your mics connected?

Deforest: Yeah.

Veil: Think so.

Rhode: Affirmative.

Command: Temperature?

Rhode: Readings coming in at 9.9 degrees Celsius.

Command: Please enter SCP-5518.

Team enters the building on the 74th floor and immediately go down to the 72nd floor. Tesca attempts to open the door into the hall of the 72nd floor, but it's jammed shut. This continues until floor 65, where the door opens to reveal the hall. Rubble covers the back 6 doors allowing only four doors to be opened. Each team member attempts to open a door, but only Rhode's door, Room 6503, opens.

Command: Please enter into Room 6503, look for anything of note.

Tesca: Alright. Rhode, temperature?

Rhode: 5 degrees.

Veil: Hey look, another TV. Too bad it's off.

Deforest: Try turning it on.

Veil: Already tried.

Rhode: Look, a newspaper. Headline reads "President Richard Nixon forms the 'Organization For Stopping Cryogenic Peril'".

Tesca: What date does it say?

Rhode: August 16th, 1959

Tesca: I'm no historian, but I don't believe Nixon was president in the fifties.

Command: Are there any other artifacts?

Tesca: I see a calendar. There may be something out in the hall.

Command: Tesca, retrieve the calendar. The rest of you the team should check the hallway.

Tesca: Gotcha

Agent Tesca is seen walking towards the bedroom door, and looks left towards the calendar. The calendar page has "February 1960" written above the dates, where the dates are marked up until the 15th. Tesca grabs the calendar with one hand, but finds it doesn't budge. He then grabs it with a second hand, but still is unable to move the calendar. Tesca is told to give up, which he does and walks towards the exit door. He stops at the entrance to the kitchen, which appears in dismay.

Command: Reason for stopping?

Tesca: Looks like someone went mad in the kitchen, dishes are everywhere and stuff is destroyed.

//Tesca walked over to the sink area, noting only one of the faucet handles is present. Tesca turns the remaining handle, but no water comes from the faucet. Tesca turns the sink back off, and looks into the cabinet area underneath the sink. The drain pipe was missing, and the missing faucet handle was laying near a bottle of [REDACTED] cleaning fluid.
