Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a terracotta pot, and in a glass container measuring 30 centimeters tall, 10 centimeters wide, and 10 centimeters long. The entity should be kept under LED-lights with a full day-night cycle, and watered every Saturday via an automatic watering system. No air-conditioning is to be installed in the room of which SCP-XXXX and its container are. If any instance of SCP-XXXX-2 is seen outside of SCP-XXXX's container, unless authorized by the Site Director, lockdown procedures shall be put into place until the specimen is disposed of or returned to its container.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a crimson-pedaled, yellow-pollened angiosperm with a 26-centimeter stem and a flower of a 7.9-centimeter diameter. Its stigma is 4 centimeters long and its stamen 3 centimeters, which both abnormally protrude from the flower.
Despite the absence of pollinators, SCP-XXXX coats its container with yellow pollen, which will be referred to as SCP-XXXX-2. The production of the specimen is rapid after the presumed pollination, and anthers are re-coated within the span of 2-██ minutes, after which the event repeats. SCP-XXXX-2 sticks to the surface of all solid objects in a vicinity of █ meters. Experiments have been, and are, taking place to develop an SCP-XXXX-2-based adhesive.
Personnel who enter an area that SCP-XXXX-2 has contested begin to suffer from nasal congestion two minutes after doing so. Subsequently, personnel report light to mild sensations of pruritus slightly below the laryngeal prominence. Within five minutes of the original encounter, they will start violently scratching at the throat and will eventually begin to rip into their esophagus, mangle it, and [DATA EXPUNGED], gradually leading to self-decapitation; exhibiting screams until their vocal-cords are mauled and removed by the subject. Multiple trials have shown that consecutive presence in the area of SCP-XXXX-2-concentration is not required for this to occur.
Discouragement and restraint have proven ineffective in preventing such a reaction, in which doing so will lead to the subject attacking and pushing obstructors away before continuing to mangle themselves. In the case of restrainment via the physical immobilization of a subject's limbs, via hand-cuffs or paralyzation, they will continuously scream to be released or until they are remobilized, and, upon doing or being so, also continue to self-mutilate.
Instances of SCP-XXXX-2 are visible on the inside of pieces of the throat, and often coat the entire esophagus.
Additional Note: Personnel with tonsil-removals appear to be affected in the throat the same way they would at a closer distance, but ones without removals often only attempt to remove their tonsils, instead of the whole throat.
