An image of SCP-XXXX taken by local tourists
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be monitored on the clock by Foundations meteorologists for identification of change in weather patterns during which specific SCP-XXXX event takes place. If one of these events occurs, all tourists and other civilians are to be redirected or prohibited from entering a 15 km radius within SCP-XXXX. However, due to the location of SCP-XXXX events, which take place at a local tourist attraction, no further containment procedures are required.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a phenomena that takes place at local tourist attraction La Mano de Desierto in the Atacama Desert in Chile. La Mano de Desierto is a constructed hand protruding from the ground, made from a base of iron and concrete, and scales at 11 meters tall. The structure was created as an inauguration funded by local booster organization Corporación Pro Antofagasta, and has been a major tourist attraction since it’s creation in March 28, 1992. Though the attraction itself does not have any anomylous properties, it is designated as SCP-XXXX-A for the sake of reference.
The bulk of information regarding SCP-XXXX is comprised of a series of phenomena taking place within a 13.5 km radius of SCP-XXXX-A. During a specific date of the year, weather patterns within this radius drastically change, completely changing the current conditions and surroundings of the location. This phenomena has so far been only calculated in this radius, and has not been seen anywhere else but this area. The current weather pattern changes are as follows via specified date, and years are not calculated due to being identically similar at a constant period year-round:
1) January 5th-Heavy Rainfall (10 AM-6PM): Radius around SCP-XXXX undergoes a significant rise in precipitation levels, and the area is then hit with a severe rainstorm. Water levels are calculated to reach 1.2 meters high.
2) March 17th- Scorching Heat (2 AM-7 PM):
