Audio Log #5704-1: Exploration 1

Foreword: D-7305 is a 36 year old male of Eastern European descent and of average build and appearance. D-7305 is equipped a standard DSLR camera, a 2 liter water bottle, and an audio feed to communicate with command, overseen by Dr. █████. D-7305 is also equipped with a tether cable that can extend up to 10 kilometers, to allow for retrieval and for the subject to keep their bearings.

Note: At the time of its discovery, the size of SCP-5704 remained unknown. D-7305 was sent to investigate the anomalous nature of SCP-5704.

D-7305: The beach, doc? Really?
Dr. █████: Yes. Please just head for the water.
D-7305: Alright.

D-7305 begins walking forwards toward the water.

Dr. █████: How far away does that water look to you?
D-7305: I'd guess probably 80… 90 meters?
Dr. █████: Noted. Carry on.

D-7305 remains silent and continues walking for approximately 2 minutes.

D-7305: Hey doc?
Dr. █████: Yes?
D-7305: Call me crazy, but the water still looks about 90 meters out…
Dr. █████: You haven't been walking very long. Please keep going towards the water.

D-7305 remains silent and continues walking for approximately 1 minute.

D-7305: Is the water supposed to get closer doc?
Dr. █████: D-7305 please continue walking.
D-7305: You didn't answer my question…
Dr. █████: I don't intend to. Please continue walking towards the water.

D-7305 continues walking for approximately 5 minutes, muttering quietly to himself about how the water isn't getting closer.

D-7305 claims he sees a bird, describes an animal similar to a California gull, and continues walking for approximately 2 minutes.

Dr. █████: You have now walked 1 kilometer. Please continue towards the water.
D-7305: You could've just fucking said "no, The water will not get closer."
Dr. █████: That is correct.
D-7305: Damn it doc. I don't remember agreeing to this.
Dr. █████: I don't believe you've agreed to anything. Please keep walking towards the water.

D-7305 protests, and is subsequently reminded that failure to comply will result in termination. Subject then continues walking towards the water. Subject walks another 20 minutes before saying anything else.

D-7305: I know we've already established that the water isn't going to get any closer, but do you mind telling me what I'm looking for out here?
Dr. █████: Nothing. Your task is simply to reach the water.

D-7305 requests music, which is denied. Subject continues walking for approximately 30 minutes.

Dr. █████: You have walked 6 kilometers. Keep in mind the spool is only 10 km long, so you will be able to return soon.
D-7305: Great. You ever thought about motivational speaking instead of this twisted scientist shit?
Dr. █████: Please continue towards the water.
D-7305: Doc the water still looks like it's 80 meters away… shit's not getting any closer. Where the hell am I going?
Dr. █████: Towards the water. 10 kilometers. Please.

D-7305 continues walking for 15 minutes before beginning to complain about having trouble breathing.

Dr. █████:You're 7.5 kilometers out. Please keep going.
D-7305: Nah doc it feels like…

D-7305 experiences a minor coughing fit. A spitting noise is heard as well.

D-7305: Doc it feels like there's water in my lungs.
Dr. █████: Noted. Please continue walking.
D-7305: It feels like drowning. Breathing in is hard.
Dr. █████: D-7305 please continue walking towards the water.

//D-7305 pauses for approximately a minute, coughs up what he describes as "a little bit of water," and continues walking towards the water, whose perceived position (approximately 90 meters away) remains unchanged. //

After approximately 5 more minutes of walking, D-7305 begins gasping for breath. Gargling screams are heard over the audio for approximately 1 minute before a muffled thud (presumed to be the sound of D-7305 hitting the sand) is heard.

Dr. █████: D-7305 what is going on?

D-7305 offers no response. The tether cable has been extended to 8 kilometers, and is no longer reeling out.

Dr. █████: D-7305 please respond.

D-7305 offers no response. Dr. █████ orders the tether team to reel him in. The shuffling of sand is heard over the audio feed. After approximately 1 hour of reeling, D-7305 is recovered.

Closing Statement: After recovery, D-7305's autopsy report revealed cause of death to be asphyxia by drowning. Subject's lungs were heavily saturated with water. Dr. █████ has suggested use of SCBA systems for future exploration.
