Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to kept at Site-73 in a standard containment locker. Personnel must have Level 2 or higher clearance to perform any tests on SCP-XXXX, and every instance of SCP-XXXX-1 must be accounted for before SCP-XXXX is shut and placed in its locker.
When finishing a test on SCP-XXXX, wait for all of SCP-XXXX-2 to recede and completely disappear before putting all used SCP-XXXX-1 instances back in SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX can only be tested at Testing Room-XXXX, where tests will be executed on a 10'-10' table to make sure SCP-XXXX has a place to pour SCP-XXXX-2 upon.
Security Update: No non-anomalous playing cards are allowed near SCP-XXXX after Incident-XXXX-A. (See Addendum-XXXX-C)
Description: SCP-XXXX is a box of playing cards of an unknown brand with a logo of an eagle consistent to those found in Medieval bestiaries plastered on its front. Though the image is animated, opening its beak and blinking at random intervals, the item displays no signs of life. The box contains 65 ███ cards, which from this point on will be referred to as SCP-XXXX-1, but shows no strain from the amount of cards, and doesn't seem to have a maximum capacity.
When a nonanomalous playing card is placed near any instance of SCP-XXXX-1 or placed in SCP-XXXX, that card obtains the anomalous trait of SCP-XXXX-1 specimens.
The true anomalous effect of SCP-XXXX is distributed when the top tab of the box is opened and a type of structure or location has its name vocalized within 2' of the box, and a certain amount of SCP-XXXX-1 instances leave the box and build a card-based scale model of the structure or location identified. Once every SCP-XXXX-1 instance has been placed to build the requested place, SCP-XXXX-2, a dark blue oily substance begins to pool around the cards.
SCP-XXXX-2 Will begin to form into an amount of objects relevant to the amount of cards used and the complexity of the scene formed. If only a handful of cards are used to create a simple structure, then only a few entities will come from SCP-XXXX-2. The amount of time that the structure remains and SCP-XXXX-2 exist also depends on the complexity of the request.
The entities formed by SCP-XXXX-2 include humanoid figures akin to three-dimensional stick figures, animals, and plants. None of these figures pose any threat towards personnel, nor do they seem aware of the existence of any being observing them, including the individual that requested the location or structure.
Addendum-XXXX-A: SCP-XXXX was discovered at a D█████ ████ brand variety store when Agent ███████ discovered it while off duty. Agent ███████ immediately handed SCP-XXXX into Foundation custody with no issues.
Addendum-XXXX-B: The following is a set of tests to fully understand SCP-XXXX's abilities.
| Structure Named | Cards Used | SCP-XXXX-2 Count | Time Spent as Structure | Notable Events |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A small tower of cards, only two layers of cards tall. Built by Junior Researcher █████. | 6 | 1 | 25 minutes | The only instance of SCP-XXXX-2, a featureless humanoid, didn't recognize or even interact with the card structure. (This test revealed that SCP-XXXX will try to make something out of structures made out of its cards by someone else.) |
| A simple house-like structure. | 35 | 3 4 | 1 hour | One instance of SCP-XXXX-2 formed inside of the house, and exited the structure using the card resembling the door. Another instance morphed its hand into what looked like a watering can and watered the "flowers" growing in front of the house. |
| A barn with stables and a silo. | 65 | 58 | 1 hour | Manifested SCP-XXXX-2 instances included both humanoid beings and animals. Animals made included cows, pigs, chickens, a horse, and some songbirds (which were the first instances to leave the puddle on the table). All "organic" instances interacted with each other in a friendly manner, and the five humanoid instances were caring for the animals. |
| A harbor containing one wooden vessel akin to those from the 1700’s, which Researcher ████ referred to as a “pirate ship”. | 156 | 124 | 2 hours, 10 minutes | Humanoid instances of SCP-XXXX-2 included pirates and English soldiers from the 1700's. Animal instances included livestock, seagulls, fish, a sea turtle, a whale, and a shark. The aquatic instances could be seen because the oily substance comprising the ocean not only raised the structures, but also gained the clarity of seawater, which allowed solid figures of aquatic animals to manifest. |
| A dog (A test to reveal SCP-XXXX's ability to create dioramas besides places or buildings.). | 0 | 0 | N/A | The cards did not enter an active state when the word "dog" was stated. |
| A scale model of the Central Park Zoo in New York City, New York. | [REDACTED] | [REDACTED] | 5 hours | Hundreds of humanoid instances of SCP-XXXX-2 flooded through the gates to the zoo and only demanifested when they reached the gates. A wide range of animals from exotic beasts including lions and elephants to simple animals such as pigeons and seagulls. Other humanoids dressed as zoo staff members walked around the structure, interacting with people and animals alike. Humanoids bought food and trinkets from shops made of cards, and they were seen "eating" food. When the zoo was empty of humanoids, the animals demanifested. |
Addendum-XXXX-C: Dr. ███████ performed a test regarding SCP-XXXX's holding capacity, adding [REDACTED] cards to SCP-XXXX, raising its total card count from 65 to ███. Despite this massive increase in cards, SCP-XXXX did not show any signs of straining, and appears completely unaffected by the new cards.
Addendum-XXXX-D: When testing on a previous, smaller surface, SCP-XXXX-2 began dripping off the side of the table. A few seconds after the oily liquid hit the ground, the card structure fell apart and the liquid immediately demanifested.
Addendum-XXXX-E: Test involving Central Park Zoo concluded that SCP-XXXX-2 does not match real time, and only uses behavior common at such place (ex. guests would view animals, purchase food, etc.)
