Item #: SCP-5129
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5129 is currently stored at site-43 within a soundproof room on a metal pillar. In the room there are 4 high sensitivity sound measuring devices that have to be supplied with electricity at all times in order to detect any change in SCP-5129´s regular melody. Due to SCP-5129´s recent change in melody it has been decided that no personnel that had a score below 65 in the mental stability test are allowed to enter its containment room. Should any of the sound measuring devices have a malfunction a maintainence crew equipped with noise cancelling headphones is to be sent in to repair the malfunctioning device.
Description: SCP-5129 Optically ressembles a wooden music box about 7x7cm in size. Tests have shown that the wood is from a extinct oak tree which grew in northern europe around 200 years ago. It has a golden closing mechanism on its front. one the right side there is a small metal stick used to activate the music box. This stick is spinning on its own since it has been recovered by foundation personnel in 1999 close to the American border to Mexico. SCP-5129 usually plays a the first 45 seconds of "Eine kleine Nachtmusik" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart on a constant loop. A person exposed to this tune for more than 2 loops become subject to changes in their psyche. These changes include an increased will to continue listening to the loop, an increased aggressiveness to foundation personnel attempting to remove them from SCP-5129´s containment chamber. Should a person be subject to more than 10 loops they will have a 60 percent chance to get a headache described as a "suicide headache" this pain will increase with every loop that is listened to. Subjects that listen to more than 25 loops will either die due to severe brain damage or fall into a coma due to the headache. SCP-5129 has been observed changing the song it plays seemingly at its own will. This changing has been designated as a "cantus" event. All songs that SCP-5129 can change to have a own distinct effect on the human mind.
