The fictional life of "Franklin Butt" is surprisingly autobiographical. For instance, I used to work as a school janitor, and now I'm an anthropological geneticist. The dates correspond to when I first started reading the wiki (around 2010), when I created my account (Apr 2016), and when I posted my first article (Nov 2016).

The "calibration curve" and Brier score is from my profile on Metaculus, a site where you predict on the outcome of events and win meaningless internet points – although I did win a few hundred dollars in a COVID forecasting competition a few months back. Rigorous probabilistic forecasting performed by trained generalists is bizarrely powerful, routinely beating subject experts with classified knowledge, and it seems like the kind of thing the Foundation would be into. ("Will SCP-106 break containment before Sunday next week?")
