Special Containment Procedures:
All roads leading into Pavluk have been blocked from civilian use via roadblocks. A cover story involving government owned land is to be distributed. Images containing Pavluk are to be censored and removed by assigned web-trackers.
Containment of SCP-XXXX utilizes a previously constructed complex of defenses employed by the Soviet Union, ownership of which was transferred to the foundation on ██/██/1987. A 400 sq mi perimeter surrounds the city. The perimeter consists of two 8m concrete walls 4m apart lined with electrified barbed wire. 6 guard towers are placed around the exterior of the walls, while 2 guards are placed in each guard tower. In addition to the perimeter, 3 buildings were constructed that act as housing, research, and detainment. These buildings are built ~750 feet away from the perimeter. Twice per day, an armed maintenance team is to examine the exterior and interior of the perimeter for damages that need repair. This complex is referred to as Site-XXXX-A/B/C.
In the event of an attack by the population of Pavluk, MTF-XXXX-Beta, "Wall Walkers", will be mobilized to neutralize the threat. Survivors are to be apprehended and sent to detainment for memetic de-saturation1. Subjects that underwent successful memetic de-saturation are to be amnesticized and re-integrated into society. Any present SCP-XXXX-01 instances are to be terminated.
Personnel entering Pavluk are not to remain inside the city for a period exceeding 24 hours. Should personnel pass this period they are to be apprehended as soon as possible.
Description:
SCP-XXXX Is an approximately 15 ft tall, 5 ft wide cylindrical organism underneath the city of Pavluk, Ukraine. The organism is made of a pale, white, scaly flesh, and contains an endoskeleton made of an unknown metal. The organism is able to move itself slowly through the use of a series of tube-like tendrils that sprout from underneath the main body. An opening in the top of the cylinder acts as both mouth and digestive system, containing a metallic structure that grinds and crushes, and a chamber holding a corrosive acid and lined with microvilli. Food such as raw meat and vegetables are placed into this opening by the citizens of Pavluk. SCP-XXXX resides in an underground chamber located underneath ██████ Medicinal Center.
SCP-XXXX emits a tone of 15 hz that displays physical and mental altering effects on the people of Pavluk and surrounding areas (up to ~350 sq mi radius). This tone is out of the normal range of hearing for humans, but can be felt physically (subjects report fatigue, inability to concentrate, loss of appetite, and a feeling of “hearing whispers but not understanding them”). Physical transformations are displayed on ~50% of children approximately 5 years of age. Children that do not experience transformation are instead affected to protect SCP-XXXX. These effects can manifest anywhere between 5 days and 5 months within staying inside SCP-XXXX’s area of effect.
Upon reaching the age of 5, children influenced by SCP-XXXX enter a "hibernation" state and begin to undergo a significant change in skeletal structure and muscle mass. Subject's hieght increases, the largest recorded specimen measuring 15ft tall. Muscle and Bone mass is altered, additional bones will grow into places such as the limbs and upper torso. Skin is tighter and appears to gain a scaly property and a slight red tint. Hair and nails shrink and dissipate, and facial features are removed, leaving the skull to appear featureless- save for the mouth. Teeth atrophy and the gums and palettes of the mouth harden into a dense cartilage. Genitals and anus are removed and are replaced by a singular cloaca. During this process, subjects do not require food or water. Fully transformed specimens are hereby referred to as SCP-XXXX-01.
Transformation ends at age 10, where an SCP-XXXX-01 instance is transported to SCP-XXXX’s main chamber, and after a period the SCP-XXXX-01 instance will awaken and exit the main chamber into the town above. Instances are aggressive towards unaffected individuals, and will attempt to capture or destroy them. SCP-XXXX-01 instances are difficult to terminate, and it is not advised to conflict with more than one instance at a time. Mentally affected individuals claim SCP-XXXX-01 instances can communicate via telepathy, but this has not been recorded.

Foreword: Olek █████ is a religious leader relating to the worship of SCP-XXXX. He was detained during a raid on the city in an attempt to apprehend the population's arms.

Dr. Io: Hello Father, my name is Dr. Io ███████. As I’m sure you’ve discerned I have some questions about the being that you worship underneath Pavluk.
Olek: (no response)
Dr. Io: Can you tell me when it first appeared?
Olek: (long pause)
Olek: Forty-six years ago. September 17, 1944. A ball of light and fire came from the clouds in the night. We first thought German bombs, but something was left in the crater. The government was contacted, and a perimeter was built around the city. I believe they suspected it was some kind of a weapon. Months passed without any news, but then the soldiers brought it into the heart of the city- the obelisk. We were told of it’s purpose, and of it’s creators. Most were horrified, and some fled, but we learned to join in it’s mission.
Dr. Io: What do you mean by that, it's mission?
Olek: The creators of the obelisk are… a long way from here. On another planet, in another galaxy. The obelisks were made to transcend their planet, one that’s barren and dying. How they do this is with the obelisk, and the transformed children. They call them surrogates- hollow bodies for carrying another being’s mind.
Dr. Io: Why do you worship it?
Olek: Do you fear destruction?
Dr. Io: Please answer the question.
Olek: Do you fear destruction doctor?
Dr. Io: (sigh)
Dr. Io: Of course.
Olek: Then maybe you can understand their position. Their destruction came, and now all that is left are the obelisks. Me and my… congregation- if you would- we serve a higher purpose. We sacrifice half of our children to help another race survive. Wouldn't you want another world's people to do the same for us?
Dr. Io: … Thank you for your time father.
