CadaverCommander's Incendiary Necro-Bunker

Life on Earth is complicated.

From a mechanical perspective, the sheer number of moving parts involved even in one individual's lifetime is staggering to consider. Joys, pains, victories, defeats, lovers, enemies – the list is nigh uncountable by even the coarsest of standards.

But we know, or at least surmise, that things become much simpler after our lives come to a close. The curtains fall, the lights go out, and the show is over. If you're lucky, there might even be a bit of applause before you walk offstage for good. And then things are quiet. If you adhere to a faith, chances are that while your supposed afterlife is not utter oblivion, things do disentangle and unwind quite a bit. No more job. No more chores. No more responsibilities, worries, or cares. All the earthly trappings that used to cling to your life fall away when you traverse the veil. Even if you're due to be tortured for your sins for all eternity, you can take some solace in the fact that at least it'll be consistent.

None of us can know these things for sure, but as a species we've more or less come to a general consensus. Peace and order are what follow in Death's wake, in one form or another. Everything we do as people eventually leads to that one final moment, no matter who we are. And once it's over… quiet. Rest, repose, stillness, and darkness. Or at the very least, something simpler than all the nonsense you had to deal with while you still drew breath.

… But what if we're wrong?

What if eternity is not the sanctuary we hoped it would be? What if the other side is infinitely more complex and chaotic than anything we could have imagined? What if the dead were made to pick sides, and conscripted to fight in grand, endless wars alongside ancient heroes and magnificent gods for the fate of humanity's very soul? What if there were indescribable monsters, profound mysteries, and terrifying powers waiting for you? What if death allowed even the meekest soul the chance to earn astonishing might, to win breathtaking glory?

What if the end was merely the beginning of something truly legendary?

Here there are deities, champions, nightmares and myths. Just beyond your last gasp awaits a place where no one is constrained by the chains of humanity, where dreams become reality and one's will becomes their destiny. These are tales of strife, atrocity, triumph, nobility, and transcendence. These are the stories of the realm within, below, and beyond life. This is…
