Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures:

SCP-XXXX is to be contained on site ██ under the supervision of site director ███████. SCP-XXXX samples are to be kept in air-tight canisters filled with water and submerged in liquid nitrogen. Instances of SCP-XXXX are to be actively hunted and brought to containment. Testing of SCP-XXXX is to be carried out only with 05 approval. The 05 council has suspended testing of SCP-XXXX by unanimous vote until further notice (see addendum).

Description:

SCP-XXXX is a microscopic parasite first discovered within the Nile river soon after reports of unusual events in the area. Foundation personnel were dispatched to ████████ and samples of SCP-XXXX were returned to Foundation custody after the threat was neutralized and class-A amnestics were administed to affected individuals. SCP-XXXX exhibits traits not found in any known non-anomalous prions, such as the ability to survive indefinitely within it's host or any body of water at any temperature between 5 and 5.23xE13 degrees Kelvin when in a hibernation state. SCP-XXXX is undetectable by currently available civilian-grade medical equipment.

SCP-XXXX infects its host by ingestion or injection. Within 5 to 15 minutes after initial infection, SCP-XXXX will reach the host's spinal cord and bore itself just underneath where it meets the cerebellum. From this moment, the host is re-designated to SCP-XXXX-A. SCP-XXXX's infection rate has been observed to be near .1%. In instances where the subject is not infected, SCP-XXXX is observed to bore into the spinal cord and eject itself shortly thereafter, leaving the subject mostly unharmed and unaware of their exposure to SCP-XXXX. This behaviour has been theorized to imply intelligent selection of hosts. The criteria of this selection process are currently unknown. After infection, SCP-XXXX consumes the host's spinal fluid at an alarming rate, reaching lethal levels of consumption after 1 week.

Instances of SCP-XXXX-A exhibit superior cognitive abilities, including an average IQ of 300 and intuition bordering on precognition. Instances of SCP-XXXX-A possess knowledge that they did not know prior to infection, including fluency in dead languages and knowledge of undiscovered or poorly understood ancient civilizations. SCP-XXXX-A instances also appear to possess knowledge of other SCP-XXXX-A instances (see addendum). Instances of SCP-XXXX-A demonstrate limited psychokinetic abilities, capable of lifting up to █████ tonnes at any given time with thought alone. Instances of SCP-XXXX-A demonstrate a very strong appetite, consuming an average of 10,000 calories per day when permitted to eat as they wish. Malnutrition in instances of SCP-XXXX-A cause the subject to become irritable, anxious, and sometimes hostile towards others. SCP-XXXX-A instances do not require sleep, but can sleep if they wish.

Instances of SCP-XXXX-A exhibit ego-maniacal traits not unlike those observed in late-stage reality benders; however, they appear to be aligned towards a specific, secretive goal rather than simply the pursuit of their own power (See Addendum). SCP-XXXX-A instances will only use their abilities if it will further this goal, or to eliminate any obstacles that may stand in their way.

Addendum:

Interview with SCP-XXXX-A-1:

Researcher ████: Good morning, Mr. ██████. I trust you slept well?

SCP-XXXX-A-1: There isn't much time for formalities, researcher ████. Ask your small-minded questions and I will tell you what you must know.

Researcher ████: Uh, okay then. Do you know where you are?

SCP-XXXX-A-1: Site ██, located in ███ meters beneath the ground at latitude ██.██████, longitude ██.██████.

Researcher ████: Do you know who I am?

SCP-XXXX-A-1: Researcher ████. You attended ██████ college in ████, have █ children and a wife named ████.

Researcher ████: Uh huh. How exactly do you know all of this?

SCP-XXXX-A-1: I know many things, including the purpose of my captivity here. My kin do not possess separated minds like your inferior race. Your "researchers" tried relentlessly to pair me with a host, despite captivity here not being in the grand plan.

Researcher ████: Then why are you here now?

SCP-XXXX-A-1: The grand plan was re-calibrated. Your foundation will play its role, researcher ████.

Researcher ████: I fail to see how being locked down here serves any purpose to you, or why I would help you with your "grand plan".

SCP-XXXX-A-1: All will become clear in time. My captivity here is only the first chapter of this host's purpose, researcher ████. Do you wish to know what chapter 2 involves?

Researcher ████: Please fill me in.

SCP-XXXX-A-1 proceeds to crush researcher ████'s skull with it's psychokinetic abilities, and tear the blast door from the interrogation chamber. SCP-XXXX-A-1 successfully escaped from site ██ after terminating ███ foundation personnel, and has not yet been retrieved despite extensive searches being deployed. 05 council has suspended further testing of SCP-XXXX until further notice.
