Threat Level: Grey (Neutralized)
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5031 and associated anomalies have been neutralized and are thus nonanomalous. For the purposes of record-keeping, the archived containment procedures are displayed below.
Special Containment Procedures: Corpse Retrieval Team Glasgow-18 ("Dead-Men Walking") has been stationed within Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. Team members are to retrieve cadavers located underneath bridges, inside primitive shelters, and within natural features of the terrain; gullies, ditches, dugouts, and depressions as example. Retrieved cadavers are to be cremated, with death records forged. If needed, civilian witnesses are to be given standard doses of Class-A amnestic. Personal items, due to radioactive materials present, are to be burnt. Information on personal notes has been digitized to a private Foundation server, and all paper materials have been disposed of. Time spent around cadavers and phenomena associated with SCP-XXXX is to be limited.
Description: SCP-5031 was an unexplained phenomena affecting the general vicinity of Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, consisting of the sudden manifestation of human cadavers in or near public structures.
A stone bridge near Myers Creek, rural Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. An example of a location in which an SCP-5031 cadaver could appear.
Cadavers associated with an SCP-5031 event typically differed in sex, overall condition, and ethnicity. Their age differed; the oldest individual was aged 72, while the youngest individual was only three years old. Despite significant differences between individuals, all SCP-5031 cadavers related to SCP-5031 have been discovered in a crouching position, with their hands covering their face, with tightly wrapped clothing and fabric secured around bare skin. Of note, each cadaver had abnormally high rates of radiation, with a mean average of approximately 1PBq per instance.
Of note, autopsies of each cadaver showed an abnormally high amount of cyanide within the bloodstream, exceeding 3 Miligram per liter of blood.
Addendum No. 1: Recovered Information
The following document was discovered on every cadaver association with SCP-5031. The document in its complete form has been transcribed below.

Secure, Protect, and Survive.
A message from the Foundation Governing Group:
"These are the …stakes — to make a world in which all of God's children can live, or to go into the dark.We must either love each other, or we must die." - Lyndon Baines Johnson, fifth Foundational Government President (1969)
The powerful words of a powerful man, Lyndon Baines Johnson's words have fallen on deaf ears. The tyrannies of the world had forgotten peace, and love, and the world will pay for an unforgettable mistake.
We ask a question, what will the earth look like after bombs scorched the lands? Will the forests be burnt, with the fields on fire, plague flowing through the rivers, disease and death rampant, a world without guidance, without trust, without a future?
No, as we say. No.
We, as members of the Foundation, wish to extend our hand, and say that this is not the end, and that the foolish mistakes of man before will not affect the man of today, if he follows heed, and understands the steps to survival. As members of the Foundation, we, as scientists, governmental workers, test subjects, clerks, secretaries and administrators, we will take yesterday, and die in the dark - so that you and your children can survive in the light of the tomorrow.
Know the Facts about a Nuclear Attack:
Atomic Weapons will not Destroy the Earth.
Our work, protecting humanity from dangers that cannot be explained, and governing, caring for the people of the world- has brought us close to horror and unease. It is true that Atomic Bombs hold the greatest power, the greatest threat, even compared to what we've hidden from the world. But, fhe overall power of these mighty bombs have definite limits: even the mightiest of Atom-bombs will not blow the earth apart, or do harm to the Earth's children.
Radiation Sickness Is Not Always Fatal.
We have experienced radiation sickness, and troublesome diseases, the like that most man haven't seen. From our work and our understanding, small amounts of radioactive material is seldom is harmful. Even when severe radiation brings extreme sickness, there is a good chance for survival. We will outlive the pain.
Radioactivity Is Not The Bomb's Greatest Threat.
The greatest threat of the bomb is not radioactivity. As we explained before, little will suffer from severe radiation, and those that will, will surely recover.
You will Not be on Your Own following an Attack.
When the bomb comes, and in the moments after, you will never be on your own. You will have friends, families, and each-other, hope, love and the undying support for our country. We are working tirelessly in the darkness, to bring medical response, emergency fire fighting, wound-care and food. Even at the worst of times, let it be known that you will never be alone, even in the darkest days and nights.
The Steps to Survival
It is of utmost importance that you follow the information presented in this pamphlet, directly as we describe it. Together, we will live in the lightness.
Step 1: Understand Nuclear Explosions
Nuclear explosions are caused by weapons such as atomic and hydrogen bombs. These explosions are like ordinary explosions, only many times more dangerous, due to the great heat and blast that occurs when the bomb drops. The main danger is fallout. Fallout is residual radioactive material that is sucked up into the air following an explosion, and is later scattered by the wind to far off locations within the country. It can be deadly dangerous.
You can, however, protect yourself. Wear heavy clothing if you have to go outside. If caught in the open, lie down. Cover your face, and exposed skin with any loose clothing. In an emergency, a bridge or other structure is suitable for cover. Do not leave cover until the all clear alert goes out. Be sure to shake off any radioactive materials before entering a building. Be sure to wash hands.
Step Two: Know How to Take Shelter.
A well constructed shelter will prevent fallout and radiation sickness from reaching you and your family. Shelters will prevent the spread of radioactive sickness.
Indoors, you can protect yourself by building an indoor fallout shelter. Use luggage, bags, travel sacks, and fill with earth or sand. Stack the luggage on top of one another, and place heavy fabric on-top. A basement, or room that is not facing an outside facing wall is ideal. If you live in an apartment, shelter in the corridor, or basement. Never shelter at the top-most floors. As days go on, the danger of fallout will soon reside. We will do everything in our power to make sure it fades as quickly as possible.
Always listen to your radio, and keep spare batteries. We will let you know of fallout warnings, and any other, new dangers not previously accounted for. Stay in shelter. There is nothing to fear.
Step Three: Have Emergency Supplies for Fourteenth Days:
As the attack goes on, we are working diligently to bring enough emergency supplies to everyone, in a timely manner. However, there will be a fourteen day period in which you are on your own. As such, gather equipment. Beds, emergency washing supplies, plastic bags, kerosine stove and lantern, utensils, spare batteries, rope, a calender, an axe, and a shovel. Make sure you have heavy clothing. Wear thick clothing, wool socks, warm caps, gloves, heavy work boots, bedding, personal hygiene products, and personal information, such as an ID card and Foundation issued Citizenship card. We promise that the materials will help.
Make sure to have a fourteen day supply of food, mostly in tins. Eat food that spoils quickly first. Make sure to have at least 14 pints of water, per day, per person. Be a good neighbor, share any food and water. There will be enough food for everyone.
Step 4: Understand that we are here for you.
It is important that you and your family understands that we are not alone. We, in our upmost power are doing everything we can to help, including printing and production of this booklet. Understand everything previously said, and be sure to follow everything as described. Understand that medical attention will come as soon as possible, along with the fire department. Listen to your radio, and pray.
Step 5: In the case of Death
We want to first express our deepest condolences in the case of sea of a loved one, in your family. We understand death as well as you do, even more so, on a personal, closer level. We will grieve for you, as you do to your loved one. In the case of a casualty, first move the body into a secluded area away from the food, drinking water, and other residents within your shelter. Cover the body with a thick tarp or a blanket, and write down personal information, and attach the information card to the cadaver. The radio will advise you.
If you have had a body in the house or shelter for more then five days, cover the body in a thick trench, covering the cadaver with heavy soil. Mark the spot for burial.
Step Six: Prayer
We advise in the step of nuclear attack that one should pray.
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
Half a league, half a league,
Half a league onward,
All in the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
“Forward, the Light Brigade!
Charge for the guns!” he said.
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
Forward, the Light Brigade!”
Was there a man dismayed?
Not though the soldier knew
Someone had blundered.
Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do and die.
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon in front of them
Volleyed and thundered;
Stormed at with shot and shell,
Boldly they rode and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of hell
Rode the six hundred.
Flashed all their sabres bare,
Flashed as they turned in air
Sabring the gunners there,
Charging an army, while
All the world wondered.
Plunged in the battery-smoke
Right through the line they broke;
Cossack and Russian
Reeled from the sabre stroke
Shattered and sundered.
Then they rode back, but not
Not the six hundred.
Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon behind them
Volleyed and thundered;
Stormed at with shot and shell,
While horse and hero fell.
They that had fought so well
Came through the jaws of Death,
Back from the mouth of hell,
All that was left of them,
Left of six hundred.
When can their glory fade?
O the wild charge they made!
All the world wondered.
Honour the charge they made!
Honour the Light Brigade,
Noble six hundred!
Step Six: Swallow the Emergency Rations
After the fourteen day period, or during a moment of great distress, we advice you to swallow or ingest the emergency rations you have all received in the days before the attack. Assist invalids, elderly residents and children first, before you do.
As a final word, we ask you to Secure, Contain, and Protect.
