Description
SCP – 4487 is a 86cm-long and 22cm-wide scimitar that is estimated to date back to roughly the Crusades. Despite being nearly nine-hundred years old according to carbon dating the weapon is in relatively usable condition and still extremely sturdy. The blade curves upwards from the hilt and appears to be made from iron. The handle of the blade is likewise metal, but on both sides, there is a small amount of wood still sealed to the handle, giving it better grip. However, most of the wood has either chipped away or mostly fossilized giving it the texture and appearance of stone. SCP – 4487 weighs roughly three pounds.
When SCP – 4487 is held the wielder immediately will become SCP – 4487-1. An entity possessed by a man named “Tarek Kamara” who claims to be a powerful, well respected soldier defending his home city in Egypt from attacking Crusaders. SCP – 4487-1 is not generally immediately hostile, but has been found to become aggressive quickly if it feels threatened or as if “invading infidels” are approaching. The effects of SCP – 4487 will remain so long as SCP – 4487-1 is holding SCP-4487. Upon releasing the sword, the effects will immediately stop and the wielder will often be left confused and nauseous.

SCP – 4487-1 is capable of communicating in medieval Arabic dialects and is often extremely unpredictable. If SCP – 4487-1 feels imprisoned it will immediately start fighting its perceived captors. However, when not feeling threatened 4487-1 is capable of communicating intelligently with Arabic-Speaking staff. 4487-1 says it was born and raised in the city of ⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛ in Egypt. 4487-1 seems to remember enlisting into military service as a teenager and quickly becoming a well-respected soldier. 4487-1 is extremely interested in the Crusades, but speaks about them in a current tense tone and is extremely interested in the condition of Egypt’s defensive operations. On January ⬛⬛ 20⬛⬛ Dr. L⬛⬛⬛⬛ was killed in an interview with 4487-1. (See Accident 4487-1 A).

Discovery and Acquisition
SCP-4487 was discovered in 19⬛⬛ a short distance outside the town of ⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛ in Egypt. A team of archeologists had been digging at the site for a number of months when they came across a series of skeletons with Crusade-Era weapons and armor in tact. On May ⬛⬛ 19⬛⬛ the Foundation was called to ⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛, a prison where an archeologist, S⬛⬛⬛⬛ had been detained for two counts of murder and one count of assault with a deadly weapon and sentenced to death. S⬛⬛⬛⬛ claimed to know nothing of the attacks he had been convicted of. S⬛⬛⬛⬛ had no prior history of violence and was allegedly close friends with the victims. The Foundation was called to the prison when an officer attempted to move the weapon and according to colleagues took on an “unusual persona”. Another officer attempted to take the weapon from him and was affected by the same persona. The Foundation seized the weapon and moved it back to Site-⬛⬛ with no further incident.
Incident Report – Accident 4487-1 (A)
Due to an incident involving personnel D- ⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛ (deceased) SCP – 4487 was updated to Euclid Level from Safe on March ⬛⬛ 20⬛⬛. The deceased was instructed to wield the weapon. Upon picking it up he immediately became possessed by 4487-1, as expected by overseeing researcher expected. The interview conducted as per normal. However, a question seemed to have upset 4487-1 and it began attacking the interviewer. Dr. M⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛ died due to ⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛ and 4487-1 picked up the key-card off his body and proceeded to leave the interview room. Subject D - ⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛ was quickly terminated using lethal force shortly after 4487-1’s escape. Level-4 personnel noted 4487-1 was able to figure out how to use modern technology by observing staff members.
Accident Report Notes
It appears 4487-1 is capable of learning about modern technologies despite claiming it is still the year 1159. 4487-1 is able to retain information from past interviews and learning which raises the question if the weapon itself is sentient or if a soul of some form is somehow bound to it. SCP-4487’s Level has remained “safe” and further testing has been temporarily halted. As a safety precaution moving forward, staff are not allowed to have keycard’s of any kind on their person while in the presence of 4487-1, additionally any “modern” objects that could be potentially dangerous to staff are to be kept away from 4487-1 during interviews.

Experiment 4487-e-1 May ⬛⬛ 19⬛⬛
SCP-4487 is placed on the floor in a secure 20x20ft room. Researchers stand behind a one-way mirrored window to observe experiment results. D-Level subject D-84811 is instructed to remove his shoes and socks and enter the room. Research aims to discover what conditions will cause 4487-1 to appear.
Subject D-84811 is instructed to walk towards the sword and step on the handle of the weapon. D-84811 complies. Immediately, D-84811 begins speaking in Arabic dialect. 4487-1 expresses unhappiness that his sword is on the ground and moves to pick it up. Upon stepping off of the sword, 4487-1 effects subside and subject D-84811 complains about feeling nausea. Subject questions what SCP-4487 did to him, completely unaware of the possession caused by 4487-1. After recovering from nausea D-84811 is instructed to roll up his sleeve and touch his arm against the flat of the blade. Subject initially refuses but is reminded they will be terminated if he fails to comply. Subject complies. 4487-1 returns and moves to grab the handle of the weapon, upon moving its arm off of the flat of the blade D-84811 regains consciousness and claims to not remember anything happening beyond touching and releasing the blade.

Notes
It appears that those under the influence of 4487 do not remember any events after touching the sword as if their consciousness ceases to exist for a period of time. Additionally, it is seeming as though SCP-4487 is able to affect bare skin contact in general.
Experiment 4487-e-2 July ⬛⬛ 19⬛⬛
SCP-4487 is placed on a table, two (2) test subjects are instructed to stand at opposite ends of the table, researchers watch from a one-way mirrored glass window in a separate room. Subject 1 and Subject 2 are instructed to simultaneously place their hand on opposite ends of 4487.

Subject D-44515 (male) and Subject D-66551 (male) enter the testing room. Both are told of the nature of SCP – 4487. Both subjects are instructed to step towards SCP-4487 and told to place their bare hand on the sword. Both comply, and both Subject 1 and Subject 2 become instances of 4487-1. 4487-1 (1) and 4487-1 (2) both appear to be confused. Quickly, both become hostile towards each other.
Notes
It is difficult to tell what they are saying to each other, but it appears 4487-1 believes itself to be the person it possesses. Seeing two instances of itself initially confused 4487 but quickly led to hostilities. The word “shapeshifter” and “fiend” were both said (in Arabic). 4487-1 (1) and 4487-1 (2) seem to recognize each other as “incorrect” in some way.
Subject 1 pulls the sword away from Subject 2 and thrusts the blade into Subject 2’s chest. D-66551 collapses, Subject 1 looses grip of the blade and immediately 4487-1’s effects dissipate. Subject 1 and Subject 2 both panics. Subject 1 attempt to help Subject 2 by removing the sword, but upon touching it becomes an instance of 4487-1. 4487-1 pulls the sword out of Subject 2 and takes another swing with the weapon, killing Subject 2. Subject 1 is safely detained and the sword is removed, Subject 1 claims to have no recollection of the attack.
Final Notes
It appears that SCP-4487 can affect multiple people at once, but it creates an identity issue. 4487-1 instances appear to be hostile towards each other. D-6651 perished due to heavy stabbing wounds to his chest and upper body. D-44515 does not appear to remember what happened after touching 4487 either time. Interestingly, 4487-1 (1) remained hostile towards Subject 2 even after Subject 2 had been released. It is possible that any person that touches 4487 is permanently recognized as 4487-1 but further research will need to be done to become conclusive.
