Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a standard storage container at Site 19.
Following the events of Addendum-XXXX-a, SCP-XXXX-1 is to be kept in a locked storage container separate from SCP-XXXX-2. SCP-XXXX-2 is to be kept locked in a 20m x 20m container and kept under supervision. SCP-XXXX-3 is to be considered neutralized.
Description: SCP-XXXX consists of two separate yet apparently linked objects. SCP-XXXX-1 is an inflatable vinyl gorilla standing approximately 20 feet tall when fully inflated. It is consistent with similar products made for use in advertising. Attached to the front of SCP-XXXX's torso is a red sign with black text reading "BIG USED CAR SALES EVENT!" Residual traces of black paint make it appear as though there might have been more text beneath; however these appear to have been scratched out at an unknown point. Studies have shown no anomalous properties pertaining to the materials used to construct SCP-XXXX-1.
SCP-XXXX-2 appears to be an electric blower air pump visually consistent with those manufactured by the ██████████ company and functions as such. Upon further study however, it was found that SCP-XXXX-2 is composed entirely of biological components similar to that of a golden stag beetle, but with each piece corresponding to an expected part of an air pump, i.e., the shell being composed of an exoskeleton, a fan being composed of wings, etc. SCP-XXXX-2 does not need to be plugged into an electrical outlet to function and, in fact, its plug appears to be superfluous.
SCP-XXXX-2 does not appear to wear down with age when not active and appears to enter a kind of stasis when deactivated. SCP-XXXX-2 does not appear to be capable of independent locomotion or self-activation. (See Addendum-XXXX-a)
When SCP-XXXX-2 is attached to SCP-XXXX-1 and activated, the anomalous of properties of SCP-XXXX-1 will manifest. SCP-XXXX-1 will begin to inflate and when fully inflated, will animate and display behavior consistent with that of a western lowland gorilla, including grooming and foraging. SCP-XXXX-1 may attempt to consume food if it is available, though due to its lack of a functioning mouth orifice, it tends to simply smear food onto its face. SCP-XXXX-1 is also capable of vocalization via an unknown mechanism. Its vocals are consistent with those of its mimicked species, though they are significantly louder- when angered, SCP-XXXX-1 will often emit a roar maxing out at 120 db.
SCP-XXXX-1 ceases animation when disconnected from SCP-XXXX-2 or when SCP-XXXX-2 is switched off. Experimentation has shown that SCP-XXXX-1 does not animate when connected to a standard air pump, instead displaying behavior consistent with a non-anomalous, comparable item. Furthermore, SCP-XXXX-2 does not cause any similar inflatable object to produce any anomalous properties whatsoever.
SCP-XXXX was recovered on 07/21/2008 from a used car dealership in █████████, Michigan after the owner put in a 911 call claiming his inflatable gorilla had "come to life". A task force was dispatched to the scene and SCP-XXXX was successfully apprehended. Upon questioning, the owner of the dealership was unable to recount the origins of SCP-XXXX, only stating that it was located in a storage closet after he bought the building. All witnesses were given class-A amnestics and released without incident. Attempts to locate the previous owner of the building through the realty company that sold it have only yielded a name. The location of the previous owner is currently unknown.
