Picture of SCP-XXXX (SCP-XXXX-1 not pictured)

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: No civilians are allowed within 10 kilometers of SCP-XXXX. Due to the outdoor nature of SCP-XXXX plans are being developed to encase or hide SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX is to be regularly observed via video surveillance inside of SCP-XXXX. All surveillance equipment is to be replaced weekly.

When inside SCP-XXXX personnel must wear proper hazard protection to prevent chemical burns. No personnel are permitted to remain within SCP-XXXX for more than 1 hour. If inside SCP-XXXX longer than 1 hour, personnel will be required to pass a psychological evaluation before returning to work. No vehicle is allowed to enter SCP-XXXX without at least Level 3 Level 41 authorization. No subjects may enter the southern or northern parts of SCP-XXXX under any circumstances. Any unexpected changes in SCP behavior are to be recorded and processed. Air traffic is to be redirected away from flying over SCP-XXXX.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a stretch of road located west of Site-██. SCP-XXXX is approximately 750 meters in length and 8 meters in width. SCP-XXXX is paved from asphalt that has been tested to be composed of 5% asphalt cement and 95% aggregates (stone, sand, and gravel). All flora within a 9 meter radius of SCP-XXXX is desiccated.

Surrounding SCP-XXXX there is a dome of perpetual fog; the fog is thick enough to prevent observation of SCP-XXXX beyond 10 meters. Within the dome the fog is less dense giving a visibility of 50 meters. Tests conducted on the fog conclude that it is composed of a typical water vapor, and traces of an unidentified corrosive substance. Corrosive substance is more concentrated in the northern and southern parts of SCP-XXXX. The fog causes large amounts of interference to electronic equipment.

After approximately an hour of exposure to SCP-XXXX subjects have been observed to suffer minor chemical burns, and in some cases, reported feelings of anxiety and paranoia. Exposure after 1 hour is extremely dangerous to psychological health. Exposed subjects express visual signs of distress such as: sweating, shaking, muttering, and frantic eye movement. After questioning, subjects have stated that they are being watched by strange eyes, and in some cases, show symptoms of schizophrenia. Subjects are likely to suffer more physical damage the longer they remain in SCP-XXXX.

If a subject enters the southern fog inside a vehicle, contact is lost to any communication or recording media. The vehicle reappears on the northern side of SCP-XXXX after 3h-15h without the subject. The vehicle then takes on the behavior of instances of SCP-XXXX-1. Vehicles that enter the northern portion of SCP-XXXX are rejected by the fog and are exposed to intense radioactive energy. Vehicles recovered experienced extreme temperatures.

Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are autonomous vehicles that continuously move southbound at approximately 30km/hr on SCP-XXXX and disappear into the corrosive fog surrounding SCP-XXXX. The vehicles run indefinitely and do not need fuel. Each instance has been observed to reappear on the northern half of SCP-XXXX at random intervals, despite observations indicating SCP-XXXX-1 instances only travel south. Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 emit regular pulses of an unidentified energy that can cause anxiety and hallucinations. With great force, an instance can be removed from SCP-XXXX. If removed, the vehicle will attempt to follow it's original course until it is at least 100 meters away from SCP-XXXX, where the instance of SCP-XXXX-1 will then turn off and emit an electromagnetic discharge. Any attempts to restart a discharged instance of SCP-XXXX-1 will result in engine failure. Vehicles recovered have shown intense corrosive damage to all parts of the engines.

Recovered image of an instance of SCP-XXXX-2 from SCP-XXXX.

Instances of SCP-XXXX-2 are dim lights observed beyond the fog surrounding SCP-XXXX. Instances of SCP-XXXX-2 have been documented to move horizontally, but always remain in the fog. It has been observed that approaching an instance of SCP-XXXX-2 causes heightened anxiety in most individuals.2 The sound of voices speaking indistinctly have additionally been noted. Instances of SCP-XXXX-2 fade within 10 meters of an observer. Recording media focused on an instance of SCP-XXXX-2 become unresponsive. Instances of SCP-XXXX-2 do not appear on any electromagnetic scans, thermal maps, or motion detectors.

Addendum: D-26324
D-26324 was exposed to SCP-XXXX for 4 hours and 15 minutes, attempting to evade containment. When captured D-26324 was unresponsive and had suffered severe chemical burns across most of his body. D-26324 was sent back to Site-██ for medical treatment and termination was postponed for extensive study. During physical recovery, D-26324 spoke during an interview of being watched by SCP-XXXX. Later interviews revealed that D-26324 heard voices speaking to him, though he refused to describe the voices. D-26324 became less cooperative as interviews progressed and was terminated on 10-██-20██. The last interview progressed as follows.

Interviewed: D-26324

Interviewer: Dr. ███████

Foreword: The final interview with D-26324 before termination.

<Begin Log, 13:01:05>

Dr. ███████: So you have reported seeing people watching you? You are under surveillance so there are people watching.

D-26324: [ No Response ]

Dr. ███████: Not cooperating will only make your situation worse.

D-26324: [ In a harsh whisper ] They hear me speaking.

Dr. ███████: The surveillance? That's why we are here, or are you referring to the people?

D-26324: [ Still whispering ] It sees through the lights, it hears through them too. It knows me. It wants me. You don't understand.

Dr. ███████: Are you implying that SCP-XXXX can see you?

D-26324: [ Shaky ] It wants you too. It is hungry.

Dr. ███████: Our classifications show that SCP-XXXX is not living and it shows no signs of it. Are you sure that these are not figments? You have been taking medication to cope with your trauma maybe we should increase your dosage.

D-26324: [ No longer whispering ] You will see as I see soon.

Dr. ███████:

<End Log, 13:06:32>

Closing Statement: D-26324 stopped cooperating with faculty after the final question. D-26324 became violent after being re-contained. D-26324 was terminated after attacking a facility member delivering medication to D-26324's cell.
