Special Containment Procedures:

In general, SCP-XXXX should be carried around in SCP-XXXX-Box, which is a standard cardboard box labelled "SCP-XXXX-Box (SAFE, TRAINING)". Replacement cardboard boxes are available from the stationary cupboard next to the printer at Site 41-NE-3. A laminated copy of these containment instructions should be placed in SCP-XXXX-Box, to be updated at least annually (last updated 1995-06-30).

+ During Storage

SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX-Box should be stored in Standard Containment Locker 4109. Keys to Locker 4109 may be signed out from Site 41 reception. Members of the Antimemetics Division are encouraged to use SCP-XXXX to refresh their Field Training as they or their supervisor feel necessary.

Please verify that SCP-XXXX is inside SCP-XXXX-Box before returning them to Locker 4109.

+ During Introductory Antimemetics Training

SCP-XXXX is Safe, and most internal transfers to Antimemetics will be well-practised in adjusting their worldview on receipt of new information. Recruits from external to the Foundation may be startled by SCP-XXXX, and instructors should schedule at least 30m for demonstrating SCP-XXXX's antimemetic properties.

The instructor should keep SCP-XXXX on a workbench at the front of the classroom. Containment breaches involving SCP-XXXX disrupt both the Introductory Antimemetics Training course and Introductory Antimemetics Field Training course (see below), and both of these are permanent courses due to the frequent need for remedial training of Antimemetics division personnel.

Instructors are expected to exemplify best practice by writing full a Containment Breach Retrospective for any breach in containment of SCP-XXXX.

+ During Introductory Antimemetics Field Training

During Introductory Antimemetics Field Training individual members of the Antimemetics Division must secure, contain, or protect SCP-XXXX in progressively more difficult scenarios.

1. the operative must contain SCP-XXXX for 24h by carrying it around with them in SCP-XXXX-Box,
2. the operative must contain SCP-XXXX for 24h by carrying it around with them without SCP-XXXX-Box,
3. the operative must provide a written description of SCP-XXXX,
4. the operative must provide a photograph of SCP-XXXX,
5. the operative must distinguish SCP-XXXX from four other (non-anomalous) replicas,
6. the operative must submerge SCP-XXXX in water and observe it rising into view,

The operative should repeat the above exercises after beginning their course of Class W mnestics, and repeat them for a second time during Mnestic Withdrawal Training.

+ During Basic Antimemetics Field Training

During Basic Antimemetics Field Training individual members of the Antimemetics Division must secure, contain, or protect SCP-XXXX in progressively more difficult scenarios. Operatives should not read these in advance.

1. the operative must locate SCP-XXXX within 24h following it being placed by an instructor somewhere within the communal spaces of Site 41,
2. the operative must locate SCP-XXXX within 24h following it being placed by an instructor somewhere within the Safe storage spaces of Site 41,
3. the operative must participate in a 7d "Capture The Flag" competition involving SCP-XXXX; operatives must present SCP-XXXX at Site 41 reception once per day to add one point to their total.
4. the operative must locate SCP-XXXX within 24h following it being placed by an instructor next to a corner of SCP-055¹,

The operative should repeat the above exercises after beginning their course of Class W mnestics, and repeat them for a second time during Advanced Mnestic Withdrawal Training.

+ During Compassionate Loans (Pending Director Approval)

+ Containment Breach Procedures

If SCP-XXXX is missing, check the following areas:

1. Locker 4109,
2. Stationary cupboard Site 41-NE-3,
3. Site 41 reception,
4. The current Introductory Antimemetics classroom,
5. The personal dwelling of whoever most recently signed out the keys to Locker 4109 from Site 41 reception,

Operatives are expected to complete Containment Breach Retrospectives after each breach.

+ Ethics Committee Response re Compassionate Loans

Dear Researcher Molyneux,

Thank you for your recent request that the Ethics Committee review your proposed changes to the containment procedure for SCP-XXXX. Sadly, we are by policy unable to comment.

The Ethics Committee has strict rules about objects that are memetic, antimemetic, or cognitohazardous, because they by their nature impair cognition and memory. The Ethics Committee therefore takes a deontological ("duty-based ethics") position when considering matters arising from these objects. This is because alternative ethics frameworks such as Virtue Ethics ("love-based ethics") or Consequentialism ("outcome-based ethics") are open to corruption by objects that can cause operatives to suddenly change who or what they love or value.

Our duty is to secure these objects, to contain these objects, and to protect these objects. As SCP-XXXX is secure, contained, and protected (both in its current containment procedures and under your proposed "Compassionate Loan" procedures), the Ethics Committee sees no duty upon which we can comment, and we refer you back to Site Director Wheeler.
