Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Keter

Description: SCP-XXXX transposes itself to any cave mouth new or old, however, it has been noted that caves which are frequently explored are the locations of choice for SCP-XXXX. The only defining sign that SCP-XXXX has transposed itself onto a new cave is an enticing sweet smell that is unique to the individuals within its area of influence. The smell has been described as unrecognizable save for a hint of honey. The caves internals are constant however, Personnel have explored up to 3km of the cave but any further distance has proven ill-fated due to multiple factors such as poor reception and the increasing hostility of the local flora and fauna inside SCP-XXXX.

Containment Procedure: The only reliable way to contain SCP-XXXX is with two SRAs (Scranton Reality Anchors) placed at the corners of the mouth of the current cave SCP-XXXX is currently transposed on as well as having at two SRAs placed both at the first km mark and third km mark of the caves internals. This procedure is harder to maintain than one may think as the local fauna inside of SCP-XXXX attempt to assault and destroy all SRAs placed inside. A minimum of 100 armed personnel, equiped with gas masks that negate smell, and noise cancelling headphones; and a sturdy outpost building with at minimum two machine gun nests and two mortar tubes loaded in 120mm shells are to be supplied at both SRA placement areas inside SCP-XXXX.

Discovery: SCP-XXXX was first discovered at the current cave known as ███ in ████, █████. A local shepherd reported that while he was on the adjacent hill allowing his sheep to graze, he saw some tourists enter the cave which only goes 50 meters deep. The shepherd expressed concern due to the fact that the tourists had not resurfaced in the few hours he was on the hilltop. SCP-XXXX came into the Foundations knowledge when the villagers of ██████ reported to the countries government that all the local police had also gone into the cave, failing to resurface, and kicking off a disaster in which hundreds of people would unknowingly enter SCP-XXXX with the good intentions of finding those who had been lost only to be added to the list of missing people. The GOC also came into knowledge of SCP-XXXX and attempted to neutralize it before Foundation personnel could mobilize and contain it. The GOC failed in their attempt and agreed to allow the Foundation to contain it with the promise that if SCP-XXXX manages to break containment and cause another disaster, the Foundation will then aid the GOC in the neutralization of SCP-XXXX.

Expedition A - █/█/█
Upon arrival at SCP-XXXX it was immediately noted to have a high Hume count, a temporary research station was made with fifteen D-class personnel flown in along with hazmat suits, GPS neck braces, and recording equipment capable of sending live footage to the research station. D-class personnel 517, 7431, and 7729 were outfitted in their equipment and requested to enter the cave. The D-class personnel were more than happy to fulfill this request as their hazmat suits were still able to pick up the sweet smell emitted by SCP-XXXX. The live footage showed that upon entry to the cave, the first ten meters seemed to be lit by an unseen source, whereas the tenth meter was completely pitch black. D-class 517 noted at the 6 meter mark that the sweet smell was getting stronger. D-class were then requested to pass the 10 meter mark. D-class 7729 was the first to pass the 10 meter mark, stating over comms that he could see a meadow full of flowers that changed colors which helped ease the other D-class personnel to walk through the pitch black wall separating them. The D-class were then requested to take in their surroundings and report back what they see before continuing. D-class 7431 reported that they were in a large cavity of the cave with an unknown light source that lit everything up as if it were outside in the sun.

D-class 7431: "As far as I can see, this cavity lasts about a kilometer, past which the cavity becomes notably smaller while still being larger than the cave entrance. This first kilometer is entirely covered in flowers that all see to change color varying from white to red and red to purple."

At this point the D-class personnel are requested to move into the next cavity to which they voice concern based on the next cavities appearance, stating that it becomes noticeably darker and gives them an uneasy feeling just by looking in its direction. Reluctantly, and after some threats of termination, the D-class begin walking through the meadow to the next cavity. Around 5 minutes after entering the meadow, D-class 517 stepped on a somewhat decayed corpse, crushing its head in with his boot, too which 517 reacted to with intense disgust at first, followed by requesting to be allowed to leave. His request was denied and 517 was ordered to keep moving forward. The D-class reported that every 30 meters or so they would find a new body, entangled in the roots of the flashing flowers. The bodies were identified to be the corpses of the locals to the village of ████, along with one of the tourists reported missing. The bodies contained a combination of lacerations and punctures which are presumably the cause of death. Approaching the entrance to the next cavity of SCP-XXXX, the live footage showed what looked to be an entrance to a dimly lit forest with a pale, sickly green haze, as well as fungal spores visibly hanging in the air. The D-class report at this time that they can hear a distant, calming hum, that seems to beg them to continue walking. At approximately 40 meters into this cavity,an entity that appears to be a gaunt, pale brown humanoid standing at 3 meters with no facial features and appearing to be fungal in nature, peels itself off a nearby tree and begins to approach 517. 517 is then requested to speak to the entity, which will now be referred to as SCP-XXXX-A, but received no response. 517 was then requested to touch the humanoid, 517 reluctantly does so. The entity then lifts its hands up to 517's cheeks and quickly presses its thumbs into 517's eyes, breaking the plastic of his gas mask, before picking up 517 by his legs and slamming him against a tree. 517 was not killed but paralyzed. The remaining D-class then decided to attempt to run back out of SCP-XXXX despite threats of termination. Footage from 517 show that the humanoid entity then placed itself over 517, face to face. The head of the SCP-XXXX-A then opened sending a flood of spores into 517's suit. D-class 7729 and D-class 7431 both made it to the pitch black barrier at the entrance. 7729 passed the barrier and was promptly terminated by security staff at the entrance, however when 7431 passed the pitch black barrier, staff were unable to locate him. Staff also reported that the pitch black barrier had dissipated along with the Hume level returning to normal, and a quick check of 7431's GPS tracker revealed that he had exited at ████ cave in Ireland. The Foundation quickly moved the resources from ████ cave to ████ cave in Ireland. 7431 was then found in a nearby town and terminated after he attempted to escape Foundation personnel. Footage from 517 showed that he was still breathing, and audio from the footage indicated that his breathing was heavy and wheezy. Multiple Instances of SCP-XXXX-A are spotted, confirming that there are more than one dwelling in the forest at the 1km mark. Approximately one hour after exposure to the spores, 517 begins to hum, it is noted that while he has started humming, he has also ceased breathing. Approximately 3 hours after exposure, 517 expired. Around 5 hours after expiration, 517's corpse began rapidly and violently breaking and elongating; his skin changed both in texture and color. 517 has at this point become an instance of SCP-XXXX-A and broke the camera attached to the tatters of its former hazmat suit.

SRA devices were placed at the cave entrance with the theory that SCP-XXXX itself used reality bending to change location

Expedition B: -█/█/█
D-class personnel 713, 775, and 991 were requested to enter the cave and pick up where the previous expedition had left off. These three D-class personnel were chosen specifically because they had already seen many gruesome events and likely would not stop or delay upon finding corpses. These three were also equipped with one HK 433 each with 3 extra magazines per D-class.███████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████. Upon entry of the cavity at the 1km mark the three D-class were met with several instances of SCP-XXXX-A which were neutralized with roughly a magazine per entity. It is also noted that shooting the head of SCP-XXXX-A is not enough to kill it, the entity must suffer sufficient damage that it can no longer move at which point it will bloat, release spores, and expire. As the D-class personnel move further they begin to hear the same humming noise as the first expedition team.

D-class 713: "You guys hear that singing too? It's quite relaxing if you ignore the giant fungus people."
D-class 991: "sounds to be coming from further in, I can see another large cavity entrance out of this damn forest."
D-class 775: "Shouldn't we be going the opposite way then? Sweet smells and pretty singing that pull you in can not be a good sign and I have frankly seen enough of this fucking cave but I guess it's probably useless to ask to leave. Some asshole scientist will just say that we need to keep moving or we will be terminated."

At the entrance to the next cavity which is at the second km mark, the D-class were met with a continuation of the forest, however the air was clear and the trees were dead evidently due to burning. In this cavity D-class footage revealed the remains of the GOC soldiers sent into the cave. They were seen to be impaled by mangled branches and roots from the trees in this cavity, leading to the assumption that the trees were at one point active and hostile. D-class 775 was requested to examine the corpse of the nearest GOC soldier. Upon examination of the corpse, the head was notably bloated and pulsing. 775 then prodded the bloated area with his rifle which burst unveiling a large unrecognizable larva attempting to eat its way into the rest of the soldiers body. 775 then neutralizes the larva, which is now classified as SCP-XXXX-B. Two presumably adult instances of SCP-XXXX-B then are seen rapidly approaching the group. They have features of the species Mantodea, such as elongated arms in a praying position with one large sharp talon in place of hands along with wings and a red exoskeleton; but have an extra set of arms and a mouth that sports a 1 meter long serrated tongue. The D-class personnel opened fire on the entities only to find their bullets ricocheting off its exoskeletons. The D-class promptly begin sprinting to the next cavity at the third km mark without saying anything. 991 is punctured through his lower right rib cage and footage shows the entities dragging him into another small cavity of the cave before the light is completely gone and all that the camera can pick up is the short scream of 991 followed by sounds of puncturing and laceration leading us to assume 991 has at this point expired.713 and 775 both make it into the next cavity which footage shows to have a large lake surrounded by flowers and coated in a gray mist with another cavity entrance on the other side. There is an entity which resembles a woman floating motionlessly above the lakes center. This entity which is now classified as SCP-XXXX-C, is heard humming which calms 713 and 775 as well as causing the instances of SCP-XXXX-B to retreat back into the previous cavity. At this point, 775 and 713 have stopped responding to orders or even acknowledging that they are being talked to. Both D-class personnel begin striding into the lake upon which both begin to react differently. 775 continues as if nothing is wrong and begins humming, whereas 713 states that he cant stop walking into the lake towards the woman which he expresses discomfort upon seeing. At this point the footage of 775 and 713 are different from one another. the footage from 713 shows the flowers around the lake dying, the light turning dark and the woman being the only thing visible. Even the water at this point is pitch black, The woman becomes increasingly distorted in 713s vision which has led researchers to believe SCP-XXXX-C is the source of the SCP-XXXX's reality bending properties. The woman begins taking a much more malicious visage to 713, her nails becoming grotesquely long and her teeth sharpening. The woman's previously calming face has been warped, her jaw unhinging like a snake. The last of the footage from 713 shows approximately 43 arms coming from underneath him, notably having GOC arm patches, pulling him into the pitch black water. 775's footage shows the woman pointing to a reflective sphere. 775 then touches the sphere which seemingly pulls his body into it with immense gravity causing him to break and wrap around the sphere. His body then converting into the same material and adding to the size of the sphere. The footage then cuts off as the camera which came off his body sinks into the water and is crushed by a hand.
