'Castle of Roseafar, Ark of the beasts...'
A fifteenth century engraving depicting SCP-XXXX, along with a group of SCP-XXXX-1 instances. (Equi cornuti)
Special Containment Procedures: The property containing SCP-XXXX is to be surrounded by a wrought iron fence in keeping with the original construction of SCP-XXXX. Containment is to be carried out under the guise of historical preservation. In co-opperation with the Roseafar High Council, Foundation agents are to administer class-A amnestics to unauthorized Roseafar civilians with previous knowledge of SCP-XXXX. Tourist groups are to be re-directed to another location within the sorrounding Roseafar area.
Due to SCP-XXXX's external construction and internal anomalous properties, specialized containment procedures focusing on SCP-XXXX-1 entities has been deemed unnecessary.
Description: SCP-XXXX is the remains of Roseafar Castle, Scotland. SCP-XXXX contains an anomalous population of organisms resembling mythical creatures from Scottish and English Folklore. SCP-XXXX itself posseses anomalous abilities, with an infinite interior, unstable and rapidly changing landscape, and decelerated space-time being observed. SCP-XXXX is believed to have basic sentience.
The wide variety of SCP-XXXX-1 specimens present inside SCP-XXXX has allowed for several ecological niches to develop, along with distinct 'ecosystems.' Each of the various ecosystems along with SCP-XXXX itself, are thought to be able to synergistic and self-regulate, thus allowing life to function and evolve further within SCP-XXXX. Despite a lack of soil and steady supply of carbon dioxide and sunlight, SCP-XXXX is heavily forested, containg numerous plant species and several distinct enviroments.
Modern technology has been determined to malfunction within SCP-XXXX. Camera equipment will fail to properly record video, audio will corrupt, firearms have been observed to continually jam and refuse to fire, tablets will erase content written onto them, and tatical/ bulletproof gear will not work as intended. Automated drones are refused entry into SCP-XXXX. As such, explorations into SCP-XXXX are to be made with specialized equipment. See Addendum no. 2 for more information.
Addendum No. 1: History SCP-XXXX was originally known as CastelRoseafar, built to house the royal family of the community. According to the Prayear oef Roseafar, construction was started in 15██, under the rule of Sir Alfred Albany, fourth duke of Roseafar. It is not believed that the original incarnation of SCP-XXXX possesed anomalous abilities, nor a population of SCP-XXXX-1.
Prayear of Roseafar makes mention entities believed to have been SCP-XXXX-1, present in the general vicinity of Roseafar with one particular section suggesting that the entities had been under attack by neighbouring kingdoms:
O Woeath! Woeath be to the beests of Roseafar! Slueng by arrows, maiemed by teh sords, trampeled by horeses. Ief teh beests re to diea what worth will youe heave? If the beests tiere whaet will youe do? Whaet will Roseafar do, ief anyeything to the beests?
Records from Roseafar make mention that in 15██ a group refered to as the 'Speers of teh Beests had been created by Roseafar civilians under order from the council, to protect the various SCP-XXXX-1 entities. SCP-XXXX was likely chosen due to a belief that the SCP-XXXX-1 entities had been descendents of the royal family of Roseafar, along with the property being vacant at this time period.
Led by Sir Laurence Blackwell, the group wore specialized plate armor, and wielded traditional medieval weaponry like swords, morning stars, spears and halberds. While a more modern invention, manuscripts seem to make mention of muskets. It is believed that the the weaponry had not been used to harm the SCP-XXXX entities, but rather those that seeked to harm them, while it also being possible that the weaponry and armor had been used to lead the SCP-XXXX-1 entities into SCP-XXXX.
Addendum No. 2: Exploration Logs:
Day One:
The first thing I had noticed about SCP-XXXX had been the sounds and the silence. It had been both the loudest and quietest place I've been in. As soon as we had entered the building, I renember hearing nothing. Lily's voice seemed to be swallowed up by the castle, my footprints too. It was so quiet. But then, in just a momement, a roar would echo through the halls, and everything that had been alive in SCP-XXXX is awaken and screaming. Enough to drive a man mad. But, then at the moment where you feel that you can't take it anymore, the silence is brought back, and all the screams stop. But then the silence gets to you. You want to hear something. And that something occurs, but by then you wish for the silence. I don't know why its like this, perhaps as a way to drive the tresspasser's out? To punish those foolish enough to enter? Or is it just the result of hundreds of wild things living in god know's what? Probably a little bit of them all.

Addendum No. 3: List of SCP-XXXX-1 species observed within SCP-XXXX
Throughout SCP-XXXX, roughly ██ unique SCP-XXXX-1 specimens have thought to live in SCP-XXXX. The following are sorted by common name, Roseafar name, Foundation given name, threat level, location, and a brief description.
| Common Name |
Roseafar Name |
Foundation given Name |
Threat Level |
Location |
Description |
| Unicorn |
Uniecoarn |
Equi cornuti |
Low |
SCP-XXXX grounds, Upper Floors. |
SCP-XXXX is home to a small population horned equine, with a similar appearance towards the Fantasy creature known as the Unicorn. Equi cornuti appear similar towards the American horse breed, Apaloosa, but posses a tightly spiraled horn on the forehead. They have been observed forming small heards within the grounds of SCP-XXXX, along in wooded interior areas. They appear able to engage in teleportation when frightened, and appear invisible when outside of SCP-XXXX. Equi cornuti have been observed becoming agressive during mating season, which runs from late Autumn to early Winter. Indivdiual males have been observed goring other male members under competition for a mate. |
| Will-o'-the-wisp |
Wile-oeh'-teh-wiesp' |
Spiritus flamma |
Medium |
Flooded locations, near corpses and graves. |
Spiritus flamma refers to a group of atmospheric lights encountered within SCP-XXXX. They are believed to be sentient, and often appear in foggy locations within SCP-XXXX. Gravestones and deceased matter. It appears to be malicious, beckoning various organisms towards it, in which it will lead one to drown. It is unknown why this behavior occurs, although it has been suggested that it 'feeds' upon the dead matter left behind. |
| Blue Cap |
Bleuah Caep |
Caeruleum flammus |
None. |
Throughout SCP-XXXX, most notably during narrow spaces. |
A similar specimen to the Spiritus flamma, Caeruleum flammus resembles small blue flames and sparks, appearing only on cluastrophobic and narrow places within SCP-XXXX. It is believed to warn one that a cave-in or break in the floor. Folklore suggests that one 'pays' back the spirit, otherwise a more serious cave-in or disaster may occur. |
| Yale |
Yeeal |
Insignis cornu cervi |
Heavily forested areas. |
Medium |
Similar towards a deer, Insignis cornu cervi are solitary herbivores with large, curved spiral horns. Despite its size, the life cycle is interrupted due to its horns growing in such a manner that it eventually pierces the brain. They are fierecly territorial, distance is strongly reccomended. |
