Item #: SCP-5941
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures:
Currently, there is no known way to contain any instance of SCP-5941. Given both their intangible properties and transportation capabilities, SCP-5941 cannot currently be held in any existing Foundation site. Though Dr. ███████ has been conducting tests going back to 8/17/20██, there have been no conclusive results on possible ways to restrain or incapacitate SCP-5941.
Description:
All instances of SCP-5941 are slim, humanoid figures exactly 2 meters tall. SCP-5941 have no discernable facial features. SCP-5941 are made of an unknown material and appear as entirely black beings that have been observed to absorb more light than any currently known material, possibly excluding ██████. In addition, SCP-5941 seem to gently shake or vibrate uncontrollably, and in such a way that would be impossible for a human. The edges of the beings themselves seem to be roughly defined, causing the shaking phenomenon to briefly create sharp edges on the surface of SCP-5941. The reason for this is unknown. Foundation personnel who have seen SCP-5941 have described them as "living shadows", "some kind of glitch in reality", and "a walking void". In all aspects besides those mentioned above, SCP-5941 resemble average humans.
SCP-5941 are exceptionally strong, fast, and resistant to damage. They also possess the ability to become intangible at will, passing through any physical objects or materials in their path. They have shown both the ability to interact with objects (such as picking up a clipboard dropped by a foundation researcher) and pass through them. In addition, any instance of SCP-5941 seems to be able to instantaneously travel to the location of any other instance of SCP-5941 over any distance. Due to these properties SCP-5941 are currently impossible to contain, although Dr. ███████ is currently testing the effects of ████████ radiation.
There are currently an unknown number of instances of SCP-5941. One instance, designated SCP-5941-1, seems to have taken an interest in the Foundation. SCP-5941-1 seems to enjoy wandering Site ██ and is generally cooperative with Foundation questioning. SCP-5941-1, along with other observed instances, seems to have full intellectual capacity, holding full conversations with Foundation personnel, and occasionally participating in leisurely small talk.
Through numerous rounds of questioning, SCP-5941-1 has revealed that SCP-5941 is an entity with several beings contained within it (including SCP-5941-1) which all share one consciousness yet are still capable of individual thought. SCP-5941 identify themselves as "Legion". It is unknown how long SCP-5941 have existed, and they seem to be immortal.
SCP-5941 occasionally select a new individual to merge with their consciousness and become a new instance of SCP-5941. When asked how they choose who to merge with, SCP-5941-1 responded "We do not choose them. They choose us. They are accepted into the consciousness when they hear our call and choose enlightenment over the human way of life." When SCP-5941 turns a new person into an instance of SCP-5941, three or more instances will appear at the location of the victim. They are thought to only do this at night, when the victim is alone and indoors. It has been observed that when three or more instances of SCP-5941 are within 5 meters of each other, their ability to absorb light extends to the area around them in an area defined by the walls of whatever structure they are inside of, effectively turning the area pitch-black. For example, if three instances of SCP-5941 gather in a single room inside of a house, only that room will be affected by the light-absorption effect. It is unclear what SCP-5941 do to their chosen victims, given the effect just discussed. All that is known is that SCP-5941 leave no trace of their victim, and upon completion of the ritual, a new instance of SCP-5941 has been created.
Addendum:
Included here is an interview log from the first-ever recorded conversation between a Foundation member and SCP-5941-1. The personnel in question is Jason Rogers, a Class-C researcher.
SCP-5941 seems to have been behind the disappearance of low-level Foundation researcher Samuel Staten. Staten reported hearing several strange voices in his head three days prior to his disappearance. According to Staten, the voices were calling him to "enlightenment" and encouraging him to "join the consciousness." Below is an interview log regarding SCP-5941-1's involvement in Staten's disappearance.
