Item #: SCP-XXXX - The World to Bear
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-xxxx is to be housed in a standard humanoid containment cell. SCP-XXXX is to be monitored and treated by a permanent roster of staff to encourage maintaining human relationships and consistent care. SCP-XXXX is allowed in all public site areas under the supervision of a member of security in case of unexpected episodes.
During an episode, security staff assigned to SCP-XXXX are tasked with protecting any staff nearby from SCP-XXXX-1. They are not to intervene between SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX-1 until SCP-XXXX-1 has been neutralized. At the conclusion of an episode security is to accompany SCP-XXXX to medical for immediate treatment.
In the event that SCP-XXXX is unable to neutralize SCP-XXXX-1, security is authorized to use deadly force to neutralize the entity.
Description:
SCP-XXXX is a human male, currently of approximately 35 years of age, physically typical of a standard human of that age. No anomalous effects have been noted outside of an episode.
An episode is characterized by a depressive episode in which SCP-XXXX reports thoughts of self harm, suicide, or intense thoughts of not wanting to be dead. After these thoughts have reportedly come into SCP-XXXX's head, a manifestation of SCP-XXXX-1 will appear.
SCP-XXXX-1 appears to be a typical specimen of Ursus arctos horribilis, though no physical tests have yet to have been made to confirm the exact designation. When manifested, SCP-XXXX-1 is highly aggressive and will attack all living beings in site with it's main focus centered on SCP-XXXX. The creature will continue to attack until neutralized at which time it will vanish along with any biological material that it manifested.
During interactions between SCP-XXXX and SCP-xxxx-1, there has been a noted increase in SCP-XXXX's strength in relation to SCP-XXXX-1. Normally of low-average strength, SCP-XXXX has been shown to be able to wrestle SCP-XXXX-1 with equal to greater strength than the creature. Research suggests that this variance is attributable to the state of SCP-XXXX's state of mind going into an episode. Please see interview log for a detailed discussion of this effect.
SCP-XXXX was taken into Foundation care following _ maulings by SCP-XXXX-1 in _, Colorado. Several of these episodes took place in public areas including a local mall, at SCP-XXXX's place of work, __, and at a local park during an elementary School sports day. These episodes resulted in __ injuries and 2 deaths, as well as _ hospitalizations of SCP-XXXX. Foundation agents were alerted to the possibly anomalous events by a local professor of zoology. SCP-XXXX was identified as the connecting element and voluntarily surrendered to Foundation care after a subsequent episode within the subject's mother's home. Foundation agents noted no biological evidence of SCP-XXXX-1 in the home or in SCP-XXXX's wounds at the time of this episode.

Notes 1:
As of 1/16/2010 subject was was noted to have not had an incident for 9 months and showed marked improvement on all standardized suicide testing scales. Subject considers themselves to be free of the depressive episodes and is able to return to normal life. Subject administered amnestics and returned to their home with a low priority surveillance team to monitor for any signs of anomalous incidents.
Notes 2:
On 5/28/2016 subject had a relapse of their depressive symptoms after a sudden and unexpected attack by the bear. Subject was remanded to foundation custody for continued treatment. SCP-xxxx can provide no known reason for the relapse, but did note that as soon as the bear became visible, all effects of the amnestics related to their prior bear encounters returned.
