Item #: SCP-4707

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures:
Due to the nature of SCP-4707, permanent containment is not possible. Currently, SCP-4707 is to be guarded at all times by 3 Foundation Patrol ships located 4 kilometers from SCP-4707 to ensure no civilians or unauthorized personnel are to come into contact with SCP-4707. If any civilians or unauthorized personnel are to have gotten within the restricted area through watercraft, the intruder is to be pursued as far as 2 kilometers close to SCP-4707, and upon meeting with the pursuing Patrol vessel, individuals manning the vehicle are to be administered Class-A Amnestics. Their vessels to be escorted following SCP-4707 Escort Protocol A. If the intruder's are to get within 2 kilometers of SCP-4707, termination of the intruder may be authorized. If the civilians or unauthorized personnel are to enter the restricted area of SCP-4707 via aircraft, warnings shall be issued for the intruding aircraft to exit the area immediately. If the individual or individuals do not comply, termination of the intruder may be authorized.

Description:
SCP-4707 is a large general cargo transport vessel, measuring roughly to 200 meters in length and 32 meters in beam. SCP-4707 was discovered on 9/18/20██ in the Pacific Ocean, roughly 25 kilometers from the coast of ███████. SCP-4707 appears to be a near perfect replica of the South Korean cargo transport ship █████████, with the only difference being the name plates of the ship replaced with the name "Mary Blue."
SCP-4707 is constantly surrounded by a 5 kilometer area of heavy fog, which has been listed as SCP-4707-1, for 22 hours each day. SCP-4707-1 only dissipates completely to clear weather during a time frame of 2 hours during █:██ PM and █:██ PM.

(Note: SCP-4707-1 contains no anomalous or hazardous material composition known so far.)

When any person gets within a 1 kilometer radius of SCP-4707, via aircraft, watercraft, or any other forms of transportation, personnel within the 5 kilometer range reported hearing a "low pitched hum." This is followed by SCP-4707-1 growing heavier, until visibility is less than a meter. SCP-4707-1 will remain this way for a time frame consisting of 12 to 15 minutes before returning to its original state. Upon the decrease of intensity in SCP-4707-1, any sort of vehicle containing living organisms which had entered SCP-4707's "exclusion zone" will have seemingly disappeared, with no wreckage or any parts left in 100% of cases.

(Note: This anomalous event does not seem to affect the sea life within the area, though no sort of sea life that cling to undersides of ships appear to inhabit SCP-4707.)

The only time that it is safe to approach SCP-4707 is during the 2 hour period in which SCP-4707-1 has completely dissipated. This allows for safe boarding of SCP-4707 until SCP-4707-1 returns.
Expedition within this time frame has revealed that there is no living organisms on the ship, not even microorganisms. Expeditions also find the fuel reserves of SCP-4707 to be completely empty, the engines disengaged, and no form of power supplying any areas of the vessel. Despite of this, SCP-4707 has been discovered to have lights within various rooms running, their respective light switches functioning as normal.

Exploration teams also noted that aside from the lighting systems in some areas of SCP-4707, no other machinery requiring electricity operates. This includes things such as SCP-4707's navigation computers, engine controls, rudder controls, and radio systems.

Researchers under supervision of Dr.████ are currently undergoing Experiment 4707-A, consisting of the task of installing various CCTV cameras across SCP-4707 to relay footage that may possibly provide insight to the anomalous effects produced by SCP-4707 and SCP-4707-1.

Results for Experiment 4707-A are currently pending.
