Item #:SCP-██2
Object Class: Euclid (Keter reclassification pending)
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-██2 is to be kept in a hangar at all times. Removing of any object that is infected or potentially infected is strictly forbidden and should be stopped by any means, including termination of the perpetrator.
Experiment and access area must be located in an above or underground hangar, at least 250 meters away from the main site building, the surrondings devoid of any electronic devices and network access points or cables. Doors to the hangar must be closed and guarded by rotating shift of 10 guards; access to the building itself restricted with two mechanical locks. Keys to should be held by Senior researcher S. K████ and Dr. R. Z████ and must not be lent to any other personnel.
The machine hosting the virtual environment is to be held inside steel container inside the hangar-5. It should be outfitted with combination lock and a level 3 key. Both keys are to be kept by head of the security team. Final access key along with ██████ should be held by specifically selected security guard E. S████, who should not contact the SCP object or come near hangar under any circumstances.
Generator that provides power to the building and the machine in question must be located inside the same hangar along with three backup generators, but no farther than 10 meters to SCP-██2 and from one another. Main generator should be checked for maintenance daily, and backup generators weekly. No cables or any form on wires should connect hangar-5 to the main site or any other buildings. The light and electricity to the building and lights should be provided by different set of generators, set in place near the hangar, no less than 150 meters away from the SCP-██2. Lights and devices powered by said generators are not to be placed closer than 70 meters from SCP or any of other electronic devices connected to it.
In case of power outage which will lead to the virtual environment failure the personnel must activate HR-11 protocol, evacuate from their offices, proceed to the designated zone of site-11.
Any personnel who come in contact with SCP-██2 are required to undergo a psychological evaluation after the quarantine of two weeks. Any personnel attempting to upload or otherwise extract or spread SCP-██2 is to be terminated immediately. Personnel must have at least level 2 security clearance and permission from Senior Researcher S. K████ or other personnel with higher clearance to access SCP-██2, if the security clearance was given, the personnel must be accompanied by at least four level 3 security operatives. The security team must convoy the personnel to and from the SCP-██2, and hold the subject at gunpoint during the test, while maintaining at least 50 meter distance.
The D-class personnel accompanied by security teams must visit the SCP-██2 and run the SCP-██2-B at least once every two weeks, as per instructions of the Dr. R. Z████ the D-class personnel must be outfitted with heavy lead boots, as to limit their mobility.
Description: SCP-██2 appears to be an ordinary software installed on the operation system. The OS, environment and GUI of said system may vary, including those not known to be developed.
It has no particular points of interest and (according to the research personnel) GUI design looks bleak and uninviting.
If machine (PC, or any other electronic device, including Smartphone) is connected (by wires or network cables, or even by WI-FI) to any other electronic device, the SCP-██2 will appear on both of them. In the case of wireless network the SCP-██2 will appear on devices as soon as device will be brought to 40 meters area around the SCP-██2.
Humans and various other humanoid sentient life-forms within 5 feet of SCP-██2 will start to feel an intense compulsion to use the software. After short amount of time personnel noticed they can hear a voice, describing it as a particularly displeasing one. The voice was saying same line over and over again; it clearly consisted of one question "Do you need backup solution?".
This type of event is proven to be memetic by Dr. R. Z████ during experiment Cl██n-R████all.
However, the memetic anomalies are least of the SCP danger; as soon as the subject listens to the voice for at least ██ minutes the software starts acting on its own. After ██ minutes the subject falls into trance, and in next ██ minutes will perform actions using the nearby HID interface in order to operate the software.
-Dr. R. Z████ note 1: it seems that the software does not require an operator. If the test subject is terminated or incapacitated the process starts by itself-
The procedure and corresponding process were named SCP-██2-B. Researchers noticed the simplicity of the process - which requires only to click "Next" few times - and all listed options were few in numbers and completely impossible to understand which were, according to Dr. Alex K████, "lackluster and rage inducing".
Completion of the SCP-██2-B causes the GUI to display ██ additional elements, including: progress bar, percentage value and rapidly changing blocks of text. After tests were performed, it was proven that the bar itself does not relate to process, and fills randomly. According to Dr. I. P████, it does not provide any reliable information and should be discarded as information source.
After the percentage value reaches 100 the process will finish, unless the SCP-██2-C occurs, which stops the current operation and returns the error, allowing the test personnel to be evacuated safely. If the subject is not evacuated within ██ seconds the voice will be heard again and SCP-██2 will resume the process SCP-██2-B from the beginning.
Researches note the overall chances of the SCP-██2-B success as very low; most of the test subjects could be safely recovered after the software failed to finish successfully.
-Dr. R. Z████ note 2: Further research proven that chance of success slightly rises with each successful SCP-██2-B. At the time of first containment chance was as low as 0,1%, latest test indicate 5% chance or higher. I advise to stop any further testing until we find a way to lower it-
Once the SCP-██2-B is finished successfully the test subject is no longer recoverable and should be terminated, as it will try to leave the containment area of SCP-██2 and is considered SCP-██2-1. The most dangerous part is that SCP-██2-1 serves as mindless relay for the software, but with drastically increased area. Any person or sentient organism within 40 metes of the SCP-██2-1 will be affected by the memetic power of SCP-██2. Overall time required for the subject to fall into trance is reduced to 0,233 seconds, after which the SCP-██2 will start performing SCP-██2-B for the affected subject.
If multiple subjects are affected they will stay in the trance phase until SCP-██2 runs the operation, it seems that one is enough for all of the subjects, all of them sharing the end result.
The SCP-██2-1 will start moving immediately after being affected, trying to spread memetic influence to as many victims as possible. It will not listen nor care for its safety and should be terminated as soon as possible. Subjects did not display any sentience, besides sporadic spurts of incoherent screaming.
Another anomalous quality of the SCP-██2 is whenever SCP-██2-1 receives any physical damage SCP-██2 will automatically run another process, known as SCP-██2-R. SCP-██2 will complete the configuration and execution by itself without the need to operate it. Once the program is executed the SCP-██2-1 will undergo the following possible changes:
- Random (damaged) parts of the SCP-██2-1 body will be replaced by random (still damaged) parts.
- Random (undamaged) parts of the SCP-██2-1 will be replaced by damaged parts.
- Random (undamaged) parts of the SCP-██2-1 will be replaced by same damaged parts.
- Random (undamaged) parts of the SCP-██2-1 will be replaced by random undamaged parts.
- No visual changes, but SCP-██2-1 collapses and ceases any further functions
- Certain (damaged) parts of the SCP-██2-1 will be replaced with same (undamaged) parts. Some of the SCP-██2-1 were restored back to life.
As of ██-██-20██ further experiments are stopped by the Dr. Alex K████ after the VIN██-██-V incident.
If left alone for more than 14 days (or if the device holding it is powered down) the SCP-██2 will display the "Your trial period has ended :(" after which it will remove itself from the machine and re-appear on any electronic device close to current location.
-Dr R. Z████ note 3: it seems that if there were no wires or electronic devices in near vicinity of the SCP-██2, its ..reappearing ability is hindered. During VIN██-██-V incident it "jumped" only 700 meters away, remaining inside the Foundation site. However, even in controlled environment it almost lead to the near destruction of the base and resulted in ██ personnel killed. Requested re-classification to Keter, because if this thing gets out the humanity will be gone in minutes. Placing additional "traps" for it does not seem dependable, as currently it is impossible to understand the length and logic of its "jump"-
Addendum: VIN██-██-V incident:
Addendum: HR-11 protocol:
Will be added after Dr. R. Z███ finishes reviewing it.
