SCP-2702
Clearance Level: 1
"Makeshift"
Object Class: SAFE
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-2702 is to be contained in a cell no bigger than 5 ft across, and 6 ft wide, constructed entirely from 89 mm bulletproof glass. If any cracks are found on, below, or above the glass, security forces are to be notified immediately, and the cracks sealed with clear bonding agents. Cameras are to be kept directed towards the enclosure at all times, and no fewer than two security guards are to be on duty, should the cameras fail, and they are to be armed with tranquilizer guns. The enclosure must be filled with entertainment goods per the SCP's request at all times, as long as it's within reason. These include books, drawing supplies, and portable electronic games.
Description: SCP-2702 is a humanoid creature standing at an estimated 3 feet tall, with the appearance of a pitch black, anthropomorphic fox-like entity, the body structure reminiscent of slime or mud. The only other color present on its body comes from its eyes and mouth, which have bioluminescent traits, and seem to have a color unique to the entity. The SCP has no need for air, as confirmed in an interview with the entity, though it still requires food and water. SCP-2702 was found during a military training exercise in a quarry located in [DATA EXPUNGED]. SCP-2702 has brain functions on par with everyday civilians, as it seems to know basic communication, basic and advanced math skills, and is very adept at reading. SCP-2702 is not hostile, and only attacks out of self-defense, where it will proceed to shape-shift into a random entity of its choosing, some examples being an anaconda, a security guard, weapon and all, and even an entirely different SCP. During the shape-shifting process, the entity's body mass redistributes itself, stretching and molding into specific body parts or objects located on the model the entity wishes to become. Once the process ends, witnesses will be presented with a nigh-perfect doppelgänger of the chosen model, albeit with the bioluminescent eyes remaining. SCP-2702 also possesses the ability to morph into a pure shadow upon any surface, despite the current lighting in the room it's in. When this happens, the SCP can only move as if it were on a 2-dimensional top-down plain, and is only affected by other shadows. After extensive interviews with SCP-2702, it's implied that the one currently in containment is one of an entire species, all of which are hiding in a location SCP-2702 refuses to disclose. One of the aforementioned interviews brought up an interesting topic, that of a preceding variation of the SCP's species, which will be referred to as SCP-2702-1. Details are scarce at the date of this document, but what was gathered reveals that they possessed the same abilities as SCP-2702, were completely hostile, and acted under a hive-mind.
