Item # SCP-3157
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-3157 is to be contained in a 21 by 21 meter long concrete bunker, designated bunker 6-G, in site <redacted>. The alter that SCP-3157 is resting upon is to be well maintained, and the integrity of the bunker is to be checked for any sign of cracks or deformations on a bi-weekly basis by D-class personal. The door is to be guarded by two security personal at all times, and any personal found trying to access SCP-3157 without direct permission from Level 4 personal are to be shot on site.
Description: SCP-3157 is a bronze statue of the Buddha, dating back to the 17th century, that has been shown to vastly effect the luck of the people around it. Approximately 30 cm wide and 50 cm tall, the statue is sitting in the lotus position with both hands placed in it's lap. SCP-3157 has been shown to be effected by the elements, as the outside of the statue has shown to have weather marking and mild corrosion from the elements.
SCP-3157 was first brought to the attention of the foundation through field agent redacted, stationed in northern Thailand. The agent had at first heard of a statue that locals prayed to for good luck, and upon examination, thought it to be local superstition; however, upon the bizarre deaths of four village teenagers, who vandalized the alter on which the statue rested, brought the statue into foundation interest. SCP-3157-CAS01's body was found 50 meters away from SCP-3157 apparently dead from a heart attack. SCP-3157-CAS02-03 were killed in a head on collision while crossing a street. SCP-3157-CAS04's body was found in a tiger den, half a kilometer away from SCP-3157's alter. A Foundation retrevial team was sent in to remove the statue, and bring it in for further examination to decide whether or not it deserved SCP classification. While the team was sucessful in removing the statue from the alter without incident, upon loading SCP-3157 into a Foundation helicopter, it soon crashed into the jungle, leaving no survivors.
Upon finally being able to transport SCP-3157 to a proper holding facility, experiments showed that SCP-3157 has minor sentience, and is able to alter the luck of those it favors. D-class personal that were tasked with praying or meditating within a 20 meter meter radius, were shown to have a 43% higher chance of surviving further experiments, and D-class personal that damaged or mocked the statue were 57% higher chance of dying or facing major misfortune in the next 48 hours, regardless of exposure to other SCP's.
Communication with SCP-3157 consists of the ability to answer yes or no questions with the flipping of a coin, with heads being yes, and tails being no. While little information has been gathered by this method, we have been able to conclude that SCP-3157 seeks to be released from holding.
