SCP-4472
Item #: SCP-4472
Anomaly Class: Pending Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: No human being is allowed to come within 10 13 kilometres of the location of SCP-4472. The foundation has erected a stationary border line showing this distance from the location of SCP-4472 at ███████████ National Park, Utah. Any personnel, authorised or unauthorised, who attempt to enter this zone is vulnerable to many threats, most notably:
• Blindness
• Loss of Retina, Lens or entire Eyeball
• Collapsed Lungs
• Heatstroke
• 5th degree burns
• Termination by the Foundation ([REDACTED])
Any collection of data regarding SCP-4472 acquired by the public is to be confiscated by the facility, as info relative to this subject is at a minimal level, and most of this data is only allowed for level 3 clearance. All figures and details are to remain in Site-██.
Description: SCP-4472 is to be exact, a dormant active "Super-volcano".Super-volcanoes are large volcanoes that have created an eruption of size magnitude 8, the largest value on the Volcanic Explosivity Index (VEI). A supervolcano of this magnitude is a rare appearance, as only a recorded 6 have been discovered around Earth. SCP-4472 erupts on average about once every 140 years (of which the foundation have witnessed 2), giving the foundation a lengthy amount of time for several tests. SCP-4472 emits a dangerously strong light when erupting (estimated at about 20000W) and sometimes releases this light at random points in the year, on average once, twice or on a rare occasion, 3 times annually. This could cause brutal and fatal aftermath, of which are listed above. With this knowledge, the foundation is trying extensively hard to find out more information that could reveal the true nature of SCP-4472, as it could pose a colossal threat to the area around it (███████████ National Park). SCP-4472 has been through several tests and explorations, of which contained incoherent results. Through these explorations, one of our main examiners of SCP-4472, Researcher ████ ██████ was lost, or so we think.
==LEVEL 3 CLEARANCE REQUIRED==
Exploration of SCP-4472 through 'Site 8'
Researcher ████ ██████ - "Entering Site 8, ground seems rugged, clearly worn down by constant eruptions caused by SCP-4472. Site 8 looks about 12 kilometres from the main site of the super-volcano (Site 1), this is far enough away that there are not as many dangers from SCP-4472 as there could be, although the light could pose to be a problem if it starts up."
…
Researcher ████ ██████ - "1 kilometre into Site 8, clouds are becoming greyer, the sky is full of ash, no visible plantation. Conditions are seeming more dangerous as i move on, oxygen levels are full and safe from any danger.
…
Researcher ████ ██████ -"2 kilometres now into Site 8, may need backup, i repeat, may need backup. Visibility is difficult, i can't tell what direction i am facing anymore. I have to walk in a direction and hope for the best.
…
Researcher ████ ██████ -"3 kilometres, I think? I can't see… anything. My oxygen levels are… I can't tell what my oxygen levels are. *coughes*
…
Researcher ████ ██████ goes quiet for about an extra 2 hours than estimated, and eventually picks up.
…
Researcher ████ ██████ -"*coughes* *sound of vomiting* *breathes in loudly* (all sounds are being monitored for any anomalies) "Backup?" "Backup?" "Backup?" "Backup?" "Backup?" "BACKUP?"…. "The spirit is there, i see it"
………….
End of log.
Update ██/5/██19: The "Spirit" that was referred to by Researcher ████ ██████ has now been named SCP-4472-1 but it's properties are still unknown as of now.
