SCP-XXXX

Item #: SCP-XXXX "The Instant Doppelgänger"
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contain in a small padded leather box , 30cm x 20cm x 20cm, in Area-211. The locker that contains the box must be at a temperature of 20°C at any time.
Personnel of Level-2 and higher have been granted access to test the object. If an instance of SCP-XXXX makes an attempt to kill personnel other than a D-Class or E-Class individual, the photo of SCP-XXXX-1 must be burned.
It is completely forbidden to test this SCP on any other anomalies . Failure to comply will result in the termination of all individual(s) involved.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a black plastic Kodak instant camera made in The United States during 1979. The artifact has a label that reads “Kodak EK160-EF” with rainbow colored letters indicating its model. The camera contains an electronic Flash that charges when it slides, a manual exposure lever, and an optic of 100mm F2,8. Taking a photo of an animal, a cartoon character, a computer generated image, or a person that is already on a photo, tv or video with SCP-XXXX will not trigger the paranormal effects. SCP-XXXX does not need the recharge of instant films as it has been proven that these are infinite.

When a photograph is taken of one (1), or a group of up to thirty (30) individuals with SCP-XXXX, anomalies will begin to occur. The photographed individual(s) will be called SCP-XXXX-A, and their instances SCP-XXXX-1.

SCP-XXXX-1 is a living copy with few physical and mental differences from SCP-XXXX-A, being the most remarkable the lack of pupils and variation of the iris that in almost 100% of the cases will become black.

SCP-XXXX-1 will have the mental need to eliminate SCP-XXXX-A and replace it in its daily activities. The instances will have a mental copy of everything SCP-XXXX-A does, knows, and thinks up until the moment its picture is taken. Based on the known incidents and experiments realized so far, SCP-XXXX-1 would appear to have knowledge of the exact location, at all times, of SCP-XXXX-A.

SCP-XXXX-1 Will not stop pursuing SCP-XXXX-A until it is dead.

File 1: Tests performed with SCP-XXXX.

March 3rd 19██
Object Number One: One (1) year old adult rabbit.
Proccedure: Dr. Tanner took a photo of the animal in a non-reflective room with SCP-XXXX.
Results: After ██ hours of waiting. SCP-XXXX-1 did not appear.
Analysis: The process was repeated twice more with different rodents. The result ended up being the same. The doctors in charge of the experiment noted that it is not possible to activate the effects of SCP-XXXX on animals.

Object Number Two: A 1.5 ml "Coca-Cola" drink.
Proccedure: Dr. Tanner took a photo of the drink, with SCP-XXXX, in the same room, and waited the same amount of time.
Results: SCP-XXXX-1 did not appear.
Analysis: SCP-XXXX doesn't work with inanimated objects nor animales.

Subject Number One: A mirror is placed in the room. D-Class 2874 is taken to the room blindfolded.
Proccedure: Dr. Tanner orders D-class to look at the mirror while he takes the photo. Dr. Tanner doesn't have to appear in the photograph.
Results: To the doctors' surprise, SCP-XXXX-1 does not appear. The same process was performed with: A caricature, photos, videos, paintings and reflections through various liquid substances of the subject. No results.
Analysis: SCP-XXXX seems not to recognize those subjects who are appearing on his lens indirectly.

Subject Number Two: A hand from the same D-class subject.
Proccedure: Dr. Tanner orders D-class subject to extend his palm. Then takes a photo.
Results: SCP-XXXX-1 Did not appear.
Analysis: It is believed that the anomaly only occurs if 51% of the subject is in the photograph. Further investigation will validate or discard this theory.

Addendum 1: SCP-XXXX-1 will appear ██ or even ██ hours after the original photograph was taken. Although SCP-XXXX-1 has the same physical characteristics, it can be easily terminated by destroying the original photo of SCP-XXXX.
SCP-XXXX-1 will react negatively:
- To the individual who says he looks different.
- To anyone who tries to stop him from killing SCP-XXXX-A
- If someone takes a picture of him.
- If a person tells them they are not the original.
- If it is looked while hiding SCP-XXXX-A's body.
- If an individual tells them they are fake.
- If someone tries to destroy the original photo (only in his presence).

Incident XXXX/A

Date: Day-Unknown/09/19██
Location: Bird City, Kansas
Description: Presumably the original owner of SCP-XXXX. A man named ██████ ███████, 43-years-old, takes a photo of his family with SCP-XXXX. The family members who appeared in the photograph were: A six-year-old girl, blue eyes. A woman (allegedly the mother), forty-five (45) years old, green eyes. And a fifteen (15) year old boy, blue eyes.
After an unknown period of time (see Incident XXXX/B), instances of SCP-XXXX-1 showed up in different parts of Bird City, and eliminated all of three SCP-XXXX-A.
The first owner of the artifact notices the change in his family's eye color, although in a conversation with a relative, he claimed that they behaved normally.
On 10/09/██, ██████ is found murdered in his home by his brother. The family members are found guilty by the amount of evidence. The mother is taken to prison while both sons are taken to the reformatory.
Psychoanalysis is performed on the family, demonstrating normal brain activity. In a crime scene investigation, SCP-XXXX was not found. The brother of ██████ kept the photo, cutting out everyone except ██████, the father of the family.
Because of that act, all instances of SCP-XXXX-1 were automatically killed.

Doctor Brige Note: Bird City is a small town. That would explain how no one reported the murders of SCP-XXXX-A. The foundation also has no knowledge of what happened to the bodies of SCP-XXXX-A. In tests conducted with SCP-XXXX after it was obtained, instances showed no interest in hiding the body of the D-class subject when it was not being looked at. Looking at SCP-XXXX-1 while hiding the body makes it aggressive.

Incident XXXX/B

Date: 27/05/██
Location: Union Station, Chicago, Illinois
Description: The second known owner of SCP-XXXX, a 25-year-old white college student named Brandon ███████, decides to test the camera found in a dumpster in the █████████ building.
The first picture taken, Brandon told the personnel, was of a trash can, to test the functionality of the device.
Since no one was photographed, the effects of the artifact were not activated.
The subject proceeds to take the object to the Union Station in Chicago, arriving at ██:04 PM according to security cameras. Once there, he reaches a high point and decides to take a panoramic picture of the site at ██:11 PM. A total of forty-three (43) people are affected by the photo and only thirty (30) of them were affected by SCP-XXXX. It is presumed that SCP-XXXX chooses targets based on depth. At ██:19 PM, the murder of one of the individuals previously photographed is reported. Witnesses say it was murdered by a "clone" of the same. Foundation renamed them to SCP-XXXX-1. The 30 people affected are killed and replaced by SCP-XXXX-1, ending the termination wave at ██:53 PM.
The second owner discovers that many of the people who died appeared in his photo, and break apart it to remove evidence linking him. At that very moment, all instances of SCP-XXXX-1 die. The Foundation, which was already aware of the appearance of an alarming number of clones, traces the origin of all the people to Union Station, finding Brandon and SCP-XXXX. Amnesties were given to Brandon after a short interview, the photo was reconstructed and the device was taken to Area-211 where tests with D-class subjects were conducted.
