Cereb- The Storyteller

Item #: SCP-####

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures:
*As of yet it is uncertain whether SCP-#### can be safely and permanently restrained. It is unknown what materials it can and cannot manipulate when in an event. Until such a circumstance arrives where we can contain it properly, the following needs must be met so it will stay in the facility.*

It is to be given a standard-sized humanoid containment cell with a metal slab elevated off the ground to serve as a bed and several metal chairs. The bed may have two pillows of inorganic fabric, but SCP-#### does not require blankets, sheets, or a mattress. No organic materials are to be brought into its cell. The door of the cell is to have an air-tight seal, and there can be no air vents.

No materials can be brought into the room unless so required and approved for experimentation by the senior researcher of SCP-####. Experimentation is also to be limited to three times a month so that SCP-#### does not enter an SCP-####-C episode.

Please Note that SCP-#### does not require nutrients of any kind to carry on, and as such should be left unbothered for the entire fifteen day period between the visits it requires with the exception of scheduled experiments. Visits for experimentation and interviews are not to be considered among the visits it requires to be content.

Any and all researchers and visitors SCP-#### comes into contact with must not be aware of any information the entity should not have, and should not be in a position to receive information of that nature in the future. It is also advised these visitors to be of mellow backgrounds. The visitors are to be left in the room for a period of 6 hours, and no one can enter or leave the room during the discussion SCP-#### will have with the visitor.

After a normal session, the visitor is to be given amnestics immediately after leaving SCP-####’s presence to make sure they do not retain any dangerous information. All sessions between SCP-#### and a visitor are to be documented and the stories SCP-#### tells cross-referenced to the backgrounds of SCP’s and facility staff it has come in contact with in the past.

SCP-#### is to be kept separate from any other SCP areas so that if it enters an SCP-####-A event it does not destroy another SCPs containment unit. If not given the above visitation rights it will enter the prolonged SCP-####-A event, create an SCP-####-1 instance, and because of its apparent bond to SCP-####-1, the instance will create an opening for SCP-#### to escape whether there were openings in the original structure of the room or not.

SCP-#### has expressed a distaste for meeting the same entity on many occasions but will do so if pressed. It is believed SCP-#### will effectively starve and expire if not given time to observe other sapient beings. When in a distressed state, it is not possible to calm SCP-#### down, do not try. Researchers of level 3 clearance or above are not permitted to visit SCP-#### due to how much its anomalous ability can perceive.

Description:
SCP-#### is 1.5 meters tall most often and appears to be made entirely of a dark black, yet undefined gas with no source or need for fuel. It has a distinctly humanoid shape, but without the appearance of eyes, a nose, and most other orifices. It is unknown whether SCP-#### has any imperceptible sensory organs or if it can perceive the world purely through its anomalous ability. It can handle and catch objects it is given, but visitors can pass their appendages through its body. See Addendum-5 for further information on SCP-####’s anomalous physical properties.

SCP-#### has a feminine voice of European descent and adopts many postures and phrases that lead us to believe it may have been human at some point, or it has lived among humans before. The second is more likely due to the circumstances SCP-#### was taken from, described in Addendum-1, but SCP-#### has thus far been uncooperative in discussing its origins.

Instances:
SCP-####-1 is an instance created when SCP-#### is distressed and enters the prolonged SCP-####-A event. Each instance is different in size and attitude, but they are generally accepting of human contact above the room size of 3 meters by 3 meters.

Entities smaller than the above size are not to be interacted with at any time, even when they expire and return to their original size. The instance should be isolated, and the room filled if possible. The instances do not always retain their original dimensions, but neither can they grow larger than the space they are provided.

SCP-####-1 is an inorganic material of the room which SCP-#### has entered an SCP-####-B event in. Its walls and floor will move and throb independent from the temperature of the room after being created and can carry out conversations with any creature that enters it, regardless of language or species. Materials such as chairs melt and are absorbed into a part of the walls and floor of SCP-####-1.

It is unknown what substance SCP-####-1 is composed of, but it is not the same substance it originally was. The material is, however, safe towards all individuals that SCP-####-1 consents to have entered. For reports of what happens when individuals are not welcome, see Addendum-6 for the SCP-####-1B event history

Each instance thus far has been observed to have a preference of the kind of humans which may enter and use it. Most humans of European and Northern American origin are welcomed, albeit a bit begrudgingly.

As instances of SCP-####-1 seem to require company, see Addendum-7, SCP-#### is to be moved only to facilities containing compatible individuals for instances of SCP-####-1 formed.

Use of SCP-####-1 instances to communicate with other sapient SCP’s may be explored in the future.

Instances of SCP-####-2 are to be left in SCP-####-1 until no trace remains of them. Should the ashes be removed, an SCP-####-1A event will subsequently occur.

SCP-####-2 is any organic material in the room when SCP-#### enters a prolonged SCP-####-B event.

As of yet, there have been only two prolonged SCP-####-B events in the entirety of the time SCP-#### has been in containment, and only one instance of SCP-####-2 and three instances of Mobile SCP-####-3 have occurred.

Currently, SCP-#### is still being held in Site-17 but will be moved if another prolonged SCP-####-B event should occur for the same reason explained in Addendum-2B.

Addendum-1: Discovery
SCP-#### was found in the aftermath of a great fire just south of Brooklyn. It was reported as a “living shadow” to the authorities, but a field agent in the area was able to contain the incident. It saved several young women and children from the fire, and it appears the entity had been living with them before the incident.

The humans were given amnestics, and observation of them showed no anomalous repercussions of interacting with SCP-#### for what they said was a total of ten years.

It is unknown whether SCP-#### originated from this area, but the humans it had known swore it had been there forever. It is unlikely it originated here, but SCP-#### has been uncooperative on this subject.

SCP-#### is not thought to be the cause of the fire, as there were no casualties or instances of SCP-####-1 or -2 or -3 formed.

If left without company for upwards of 32 days, SCP-#### will enter an SCP-####-A event, and SCP-####-1 instances will expire.

The SCP-####-A event is a mental break which SCP-#### suffers if left alone too long. The entity will begin a muttering chant in a yet unknown dialect, and the walls will begin to move similarly to an SCP-####-1 instance. If left alone long enough, the instance will begin talking to SCP-#### in the same dialect. This instance fades into a normal room once SCP-#### leaves.

It is unknown whether they are communicating, or merely speaking in the same language, but it does not help SCP-####’s state. It will continue its muttering and eventually grow hostile towards the SCP-####-1. It will tear a hole in SCP-####-1 and seek out the nearest SCP. In its current state, SCP-#### cannot be contained for long and uses any means necessary to get away from the people holding it back.

It will eventually force its way into another SCP’s cell. After catching sight of the other SCP, SCP-#### gradually calms down, and again becomes docile and happy. their gaseous body does appear to begin having negative effects on-site personnel during this event.

SCP-####’s usual handler, Doctor Michael Taylor, is the only site personnel whom SCP-#### will hold an interview with thus far. Further trials must be held to find suitable substitutes should he expire, but SCP-#### seems to be adamantly protecting him from any unnatural demise, see Addendum-3.

The walls will turn to flesh
The inorganic will become other
And the organic will turn to dust

If SCP-#### does not have a visitor with stories to feed off of, it will create entities it can feed off of. Some immobile. Some not. The organic material is absorbed into the immobile to synthesize sapient behavior and ideas.

SCP-#### cannot feed off these entities indefinitely, and so will use them to find more suitable meals.

(C) Such episodes caused by constant observation for experimentation last an average of four hours, but can stop sooner if the distressing circumstances cease occurring. These episodes create instances of SCP-####-2.

(A) Any less time and any fewer visits than this can cause SCP-#### to enter a distressed state and begin a prolonged episode of SCP-####-A. The room should be then on referred to as an instance of SCP-####-1 and cannot be reused without permission and specific psychological requirements met by the new inhabitant(s).

Should a prolonged event SCP-####-A occur, the visitor is to be considered dead and the room considered uninhabitable and unreachable for a seven day period. There should be no attempt to remove the corpse of any visitors, even once the room has ceased its spastic movements and fully morphed into an SCP-####-1 instance. See Addendum-4 for the reuse of any SCP-####-1 instance.
