Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX must be kept in a room capable of containing a subject in case of it's effects reaching an extreme level. The room should only be monitored if there is a subject inside. Otherwise, it is completely safe to leave SCP-XXXX unobserved.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a seemingly ordinary 60.96 by 50.8 cm bathroom mirror that was taken from a home in ██████, █████, ███. It was discovered after multiple reports were found of suicides from different families that had lived in the house. When a subject first looks into the mirror, their reflection appears perfectly normal. However, depending on how the person felt about their appearance, their reflection will change the second time.
If the subject felt positively about their appearance, SCP-XXXX would slightly shift their reflection to be more symmetrical and attractive, improving the mood of the subject. However, if the subject felt negatively about their appearance, SCP-XXXX would slightly deform their reflection, leading to lower self-esteems and increased self awareness.
If the subject's thoughts remained positive while viewing the mirror multiple times over the course of a week, SCP-XXXX would continue to improve their reflection a bit more every time, leading to improved moods overall and more confidence. On the other hand, the mirror's effects on subjects thinking negatively were much more extreme. After the subject viewed the mirror about 10 times, they started reporting extreme deformations in their reflections. Bloody eyes, twisted noses, rotting teeth, and in some cases, bulging tumors.
Every time the subjects viewed the mirror, they reported a new deformation. This had extreme mental effects on the subjects. They showed signs of depression, PTSD, and suicidal thoughts. These effects stuck even after being told that what they saw was not reality. After some time, almost all subjects refused to look at SCP-XXXX any further. All except one.
The subject's name was █████ ██████ and had been the most resilient to SCP-XXXX's effects until the 27th time viewing it. They reported that their reflection had become a bloody mess of flesh that vaguely resembled them. At this time, the subject began to show signs of extreme distress and anger. In an attempt to destroy the mirror with their fist, the subject suddenly grabbed their face, screaming the words "It burns."
Upon observing the subject more closely, it was discovered that their face had began to melt and deform, slowly showing similarities to the subject's description of their reflection. Once it was finished, the subject looked nothing like what they did before. At this time, multiple security personnel were sent into the room to subdue the subject, but SCP-XXXX's effects had rendered them extremely hostile, causing them to fight back. Fortunately, their attacks were unsuccessful and they were terminated shortly after.
