Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: As of time of writing, no attempts to contain SCP-XXXX permanently, thereby preventing its occurrence as a whole have been successful. Entity will manifest nearly unpredictably as to location, however has so far without fail appeared once annually every March 2nd in the home of it's victim.
Staff should, therefore, prepare for the manifestation of SCP-XXXX, and remain vigilant to any signs indicating where it has begun. This includes actively surveying hospital data for relevant symptoms as well as being aware of any recent internet searches for or posts relating to relevant symptoms. This should be done discretely to avoid public knowledge of SCP-XXXX.
Once located, task forces should dispatch to the residence of the victim as soon as possible, hence why preparation is necessary to ensure a fast response. Once the victim is identified and confirmed, all other member's of their household should be evacuated and the residence secured with a guard detail preventing anyone, including guard personnel and the victim, from entering or leaving the location until the entity has completed its process. Excessive force to do this is not needed as victim will refuse profusely to exit their residence, and attempts to extract them by force will be met with extreme and lethal violence. Efforts to stop the process of SCP-XXXX before it has finished have, too, been unsuccessful and occasionally fatal.
Once the process is completed, approximately two weeks after the initial appearance of SCP-XXXX and indicated by loud sobbing coming from the residence, Mobile Task Forces should enter the house and secure the victim, muffling and restraining them before their removal to the foundation.
During the capture, transport and subsequent containment of the victim all personnel in any contact must block their ears and blur their vision so they cannot hear or read anything the victim attempts to communicate to them.
Once inside the foundation, victims are to be stored in sound proof containers with no windows. Excessive force is not needed to keep them within their cell.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a potentially lethal, non-organic parasite that manifests every March 2nd in dressers, drawers and closets of the homes of victims. After the progressive manifestation of an entire human skeleton, victims will be compelled hourly to push the bones through their skin into place, forcing their own bones out, which they will put back into the location SCP-XXXX manifested. Organs and other tissues are not displaced.
Victims will retain no memory of displacing the bones, however will be left with intense pain wherever the bone was replaced.
Once the final bone of the skeleton has been implanted, the victim will suddenly take on an entirely different set of memories. They will claim to still be the same person they already were, and indeed retain almost all information about people they knew and their present surroundings; however they will insistently remember many different key events relating to their lives.
Examples of such alternate memories include:
- the death of a friend or relative that is actually alive
- accidents or disasters that never occurred
The victim will then become severely emotionally distressed with these memories, sobbing and wailing loudly, which indicates the ultimate completion of the parasite's progressive hold on the victim.
The victim will then attempt to tell anyone it can about the events they remember. If they succeed in doing so, the event will immediately take place.
The entity itself will begin as a single human bone appearing in a closet, dresser, or drawer of the victim's place of residence. In the case of multi person households the victim is unambiguous, as they are the only ones able to see the bone, and be affected by SCP-XXXX's influence.
The type of bone can vary, though in all reported cases the first bone to manifest has been small, examples include distal phalanges, stapes, or molars. After the first bone has appeared, more will do so, in the same location, over the course of approximately two weeks, until an entire but unformed human skeleton has manifested. The bones appearing tend to grow larger in size as time progresses, with a skull usually being the final bone to appear.
