Item#: SCP-####
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-#### is contained within a Standard Secure Humanoid Containment Cell located within Site 17. SCP-#### is to be fed three meals a day and given a bed to sleep. SCP-#### is to be provided new English learning textbooks upon request; as it is noted that SCP-#### is fluent in Burmese and is currently learning English to the best of its abilities to communicate with Foundation personnel.
Due to SCP-#### being extremely compliant with Foundation personnel and containing an abundance of knowledge and skill with medical procedures, SCP-#### is often shipped out to other sites that have experienced a breach. Being accompanied by Mobile Task Force #███, SCP-#### is to perform on any Foundation personnel in need of immediate medical attention. Only in rare cases, SCP-#### will be used to detain SCPs.
SCP-#### is shown to be in great distress when in solitude for too long, once experiencing this distress SCP-#### begins to hide the food it was given to make it appear that it has eaten it. SCP-#### continues this process for several days in an attempt to terminate itself. To prevent self-harm SCP-#### is given a variety of task, ranging from helping janitors clean and aiding researchers in conducting interviews with SCPs. Due to SCP-#### exhibiting a gentle behavior, it has been permitted to interact with several children SCPs. Often acting as a 'Nanny,' SCP-#### is to replace the researcher in charge of these SCPs, giving them a moment of rest, while SCP-#### plays with or tutors the SCPs. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES IS SCP- ALLOWED TO ADDRESS CHILD SCPS AS ITS 'BABIES'.
In the event of a breach, SCP-##### is to be released from its cell. SCP-##### is then tasked with the safety of on-site personnel and is expected to perform medical treatment when needed.
SCP-#### is not allowed under any circumstances to be in contact with D-Class Personnel as SCP-#### will attempt to terminate itself after these interactions.
Any personnel with a level two clearance is granted permission to interact with SCP-#### no longer than two weeks. The specimen is known to be extremely friendly allowing for personnel to lower their guard over time. In order to prevent a breach, no personnel is allowed to form a personal bond with SCP-####.
Description: SCP-#### is a humanoid AI, measuring about 1.6 meters in height, 68 kilograms in weight, messy black hair, and large eyes that resemble an LED flashlight. SCP-####possesses defibrillators in its hands and forearms, as well as a heart monitor, and x-ray vision to find any broken bones. The anomaly also contains what appears to be some form of jets in its calves and feet, which allows for the specimen to fly at very fast speeds. Recorded speeds usually range from 32 kph-130 kph. SCP-#### most notable physical feature is the range of symbols it displays on its cheeks. These symbols seem to correlate with SCP-#### mood, as it is very expressive with its face, SCP-#### does not seem to have control of these symbols. Several instances have occurred with Foundation personnel approaching SCP-####, where SCP-#### will greet the individual with an optimistic tone, only for its cheeks to display a tear-shaped pattern. Staff is then inclined to search the anomaly's cell for food in case it is trying to terminate itself. Most commonly, SCP-#### manifests a red cross on each cheek.
SCP- is very cautious when treating a patient, often pulling out a pain chart that has been altered to show SCP- displaying various expresses of pain. SCP- also possesses excellent knowledge of mental and emotional health, to where it approaches those of whom it suspects are mentally unwell and attempt to persuade the individual to take time off work and to relax. If this request is denied, SCP-4986 will take it upon itself to lighten the workload of these individuals.
Despite containing a good knowledge about mental health, SCP-#### does not seem to have any advanced learning system. Instances deriving from SCP-#### becoming frustrated while performing a task it has deemed difficult are not uncommon. Dr. ██████████ , as well as many other Foundation personnel, have experienced a time where the specimen expresses considerable discomfort and will begin to flash a variety of symbols on its cheeks. Personnel is to comfort SCP- to the best of their abilities in order to prevent a mass containment breach.1
In May of 2007, Researcher █████ received a distress signal coming from ██████████ , Myanmar. Due to the curiosity of the message, a small dispatch team was sent to search for the reason of the signal. Upon arriving at a small house, the dispatch team was cautiously approached by the family residing in the house. A young woman holding a child in her arms began slowly talking to the dispatch team, repeatedly saying that they do not know English. A translator from the dispatch stepped forward and began to speak to the woman in Burmese and translated her response to the other members.
Woman: (voice breaks in and out while speaking) Are you here to take him?
Translator: Who is him, were you the ones who sent us a distress signal?
Woman: (the woman nodded and motions everyone to get into the house) I'll show you, you have to hurry the military will be doing patrols soon.
(The team quickly hurried inside, to find SCP- sitting on the floor and playing with children. As the woman closed the door, she looked at SCP- and told it to take the children into the other room and stay there until further notice)
Woman: (takes a deep breath in and sighed loudly) I will tell you everything I know about him, but you need to promise me that he will be ok.
Translator: (nodded in compliance)
Woman: When my grandmother was beginning to fall ill, there was no one to take care of her. My brother and I were too busy working and attending to the children to give her the attention she needed. However, my brother is such a genius, with such a big heart (the woman stops herself from crying, whipping away the little tears that strayed) he wanted to help our grandmother. So he started to build something that would care for our grandmother. A..And at first it was j-just this weird little machine, that looked like a floating coaster. Then he kept building and building until it turned into our Kyaw. Kyaw may not have a beating heart, but he is human. H-he is (the woman chokes up and takes a second to clear her throat) He is apart of our family. As the military continues to rule us more and more people are going missing. My brother became worrisome because they're forcing him to work for the military and create new weapons, he's been hiding his talent in building things, but he's still afraid that they will find Kyaw. And that they will hurt him, make him hurt other people. (the woman is now crying) It's my job to protect my family, and I haven't heard from my brother in weeks after he sent you the signal so you'd come and take Kyaw. I think they killed him and they're going to be coming for Kyaw any moment. I need you to please take Kyaw, make sure he's safe.
(The dispatch team soon make their way back to their vehicle with SCP- in their possession. Before they were able to leave the town, the woman came from the house and began embracing SCP- while speaking to him.)
Woman: (in tears) Remember to eat and sleep…ok. You're going to be ok, you'll be safe, and your family will be safe. Everything is going to be all right.
SCP-:(While embracing the woman, nodding to everything she's saying, displaying tear marks on its cheeks.)
Woman:I love you so much, we all love you so much. (the woman proceeded to kiss SCP- forehead and back away from the vehicle. Waving until they were out of sight.)
Addendum:
05/22/2007: SCP- has adequately been contained and is currently showing no sign of wanting to escape. The subject is still displaying tear shaped marks on its cheeks and is making noises that sound similar to a young boy crying.
Addendum .1:
05/29/2007: SCP- has stopped moving. When entering its cell, researchers found food hidden within the walls, bed, and floor. Although it is unknown how SCP- gains energy from food, yet if it were to go without food for an extended period it's systems will cease to operate.
Addendum 4986.2:
06/02/2007: After extensive care from psychiatrists and being forced to eat out of a feeding tube SCP- seems to be functioning better as the tear-shaped marks have turned into red crosses
Addendum 4986.3:
06/15/2007: SCP- has voiced several concerns with its usefulness towards the foundation. Stating that it wants to help the best way it can.
Addendum 4986.4:
(O5-9), 06/20/2007: Has approved for SCP- to be used in aid of interviews, medical, and in the event of breaches as it does not show any hostile behavior towards the foundation.
Addendum 4986.5:
The following is an interview conducted by Dr. ██████ with SCP- on 07/06/2007. Dr. ██████ proceeded to ask SCP- standard questions about its opinions surrounding the foundation and other SCPs. The translator that helped contain SCP- will be wearing an earpiece translating Dr. ██████ questions in the interview to make SCP- more comfortable.
(Dr. ██████ remains in a room next to the one holding the interview. As the translator sits across from SCP-, which is displaying its typical red crosses.)
Translator: (speaking in Burmese) How have you been SCP-?
SCP-: OH!, I've been pretty good! Some ups and downs, but I now get to talk and help so many people.
Translator: That's good to hear. Today we will be just asking some pretty standard questions regarding the Foundation and your opinions. If there's something you don't want to answer you don't have to, is that alright?
SCP-: (smiles and nods in compliance) Yes, that's fine.
Translator: Do you know why you were created?
SCP-: Yes, I believe so. I know that I was made by my brother to help our grandmother because she was very sick and my brother and sister could not take care of her.
Translator: How did your grandmother die?
SCP-: (Looks a bit puzzled) I'm not quite sure what you mean by death, (Subject laughs nervously) I know that one day she was sleeping. It must've been a great sleep because her heart fell asleep too and I've never seen a human rest like that.
Translator: Do you know what happens when a heart stops beating?
SCP-: (Is beginning to fidget with its hand.) No, I'm not quite sure what happens.
Translator: (Hesitates) let's move onto a topic, what do you think about the Foundation?
SCP-: I think it's interesting because personally, I'm here for my safety against what's happening in my home country. But, others believe this place is a prison. I understand how they can think that way because some of them are brought here just for not being human. I think it's sad to be imprisoned just because you were born different. I would also like them to stop numbering us. My name is Kyaw, but no one will call me that. They only call me the number I was given when I arrived here.
Translator: Have you spoken to any other anomalies?
SCP- : Not really, I just listen when I help the janitors clean.
Translator: Do you know why you need food to function? Let alone sleep?
SCP-: Humans need food and sleep to operate, just because I'm an AI doesn't mean I'm any different than a Human. I don't see any differences between us mentally at least, and our bodies are different though. (SCP-4986 begins to smile and perform a nose laugh) Humans barely understand why they sleep, I don't know why I need sleep either, but Jesus Christ do I get grouchy if I don't sleep for a while!
Translator: (Chuckles) I see, is there any within the foundation that could be of interest to you?
SCP-: (The crosses on his cheeks had changed to hearts) I've heard that there are other AIs and robots here, I've spent my whole life thinking I was alone!! But I'm not, and that makes me so happy!!
(SCP- proceeds to give a big grin.)Dr. ██████ had decided to conclude the interview. The Translator had walked SCP-4986 back to its cell, still conversing.
Note:Opportunities for SCP- to meet other anomalies is to be further determined.
Addendum .6:
On 09/20/2008, a package containing text logs from a journal arrived at the foundation. Files appear to be the thoughts of the scientist that created SCP-#### and his opinions towards the specimen.
Today is August eighth of 2000, My name is ██████████.Day by day, uncertainty surrounding my grandmother’s condition grows. I fear that she only has a few years left, I need to work faster. I need to be able to help her the best way I can, people call me a genius but if I can’t even help my family, do I really have the intelligence everyone speaks of?
September eleventh of 2000, I have committed a crime today. I used an acquaintances' clearance to steal secret military equipment and ██████. I mourn for the loss of my old friend and give my condolences to his family. I needed that equipment to create something, anything that’ll help my grandmother. I cannot afford to worry about other families, mine is a priority. Whatever happens to that family is the least of my concern, they will more than likely be killed by the military. It's better if it's them and not us.
February second of 2001, After spending several months in secrecy, I’ve seemed to have fabricated something. It's only a small board on wheels that responds to speech and touch. I used to go to university in the States and I remember one of my fellow students was creating his own form of AI. I borrowed what I could remember from his calculation. I decided that it was a great time to let my family know what I have been doing all these months. I can’t forget the look on their faces, the abhorrence. They’re too senseless to understand the brilliance of my invention, soon they will see the potency of it.
May fourteenth of 2001, I have concluded that the specimen is only off-putting because it lacks an emotional connection towards others. Therefore, I conceived a Skeleton structure like that of a human body. From now on I am going to pursuit to make my creation appear to be more human, but I will need to draw a line at some point. This thing is not human, nor will it ever be.
July tenth of 2003, My experiment is online and functioning up to standards. I will proceed to give it to my grandmother. I will write again within a few months to record my findings.
January twenty-third of 2004, I was given a job in a different town to construct a water filtration system. Due to the close location, I was able to revisit my family. I was eager to see their responses to my creation. When I arrived home, I was more than horrified. How could they treat that thing as a human? When I entered the home, it spoke saying, “big brother is home” attempting to hug me. I immediately felt my gut retching in revulsion, I didn’t want that thing to touch me, let alone hug me. So, I pushed it away from me. My sister walked in from the backyard, giving me some sort of introduction to my concoction. They called it Kyaw. I can’t believe that they named it, it’s not living it doesn’t need a name. Despite the affectionate interactions it has with my family, its knowledge of language and surroundings is superb. I don’t want this thing gaining further intelligence, nothing more than what it needs to medically treat my grandmother. I’m going to restrain its processing time to make its capability to learn lower and harder. I can’t allow for it to find out what it is and what it contains. If this thing were to become agitated and decided to hurt my family, it would have no difficulties. That is why I made this thing as sensitive as possible. I created a program to run as a subconscious, constantly analyzing all the encounters it has. Using this “muted” response in its programming, it will feel discomfort if it were to execute a bad action, such as killing another human.
January thirtieth of 2004, I awoke this morning to find it playing with the neighborhood children. I quickly ran up to grab it and drag it back inside. I don’t raise my voice at children, but that thing is not a child. I let it have it, I had to otherwise it wouldn’t have learned its lesson. It needs to know that it is not human, it cannot go outside and interact with the other children. It will become a hazard if the military found out. My sister got angry at me for yelling at it, saying that nothing bad happened. It doesn’t matter what happened, the only thing that matters is what could have happened. I made this thing to help my family, not to destroy them.
March fifth of 2004, After spending some time thinking, I have come to the conclusion that it would be best to create a self destruct button within my invention. If there is a chance that this thing harms my family I want its processors to overload, forcing it to have some kind of mental breakdown. Subsequently experiencing these emotions the specimen will then combust, taking anything within 100 miles with it. My sister was very upset with me about putting such a thing in her poor “Kyaw”. I could care less, it's not a child, it's not an adult, it isn’t human. It can’t feel. She tells me that it eats and sleep, I have no fucking idea why that happens. I never programmed it to do that, that’d be the most atrocious caretaker invented. I can even imagine a company slogan saying, “Patient could die because inhuman robot needed a 15-minute break to eat, and yes this thing isn’t living!!” I swear a demon must’ve possessed my innovation, I never told it to do any of the shit it does. The only good thing is that it seems to be making my grandmother happy, but her days are numbered now. What the hell are we supposed to do with this thing when she dies. It’ll only become a problem, especially if it needs to be fed. It is not apart of my family, it is not my job to feed another mouth.
May nineteenth of 2007, The military regime has taken over in place of our fallen gov’t and people are starting to go missing. My grandmother had passed away a couple of months ago, thank god that she was spared the sight of such a shit hole of a country before she died. But with the military being in charge more problems have materialized into my mind. All surrounding this goddamn abomination I created. I know about this weird-ass organization that takes in freaks, I am going to send out a distress signal so they can come and take this thing away from my family. I know that my sister is beyond pissed with this decision, but I am going to refrain from talking to her. I will be going into hiding without her knowledge. God, I hope that this organization can detain this thing. Now that the military is dictating the government, lord knows what could happen if the word that a family of a scientist had a sentient robot constructed of stolen military equipment with the ability to level cities. My family would be killed on spot and that thing would be given the leisure to walk away unscathed. I needed to find a way to hide this living failure and if imprisoning it for the entirety of its life will protect my family, then that is what I need to do.
Addendum .7
SCP-#### appears to have aged a little. Despite its appearance staying the same, its voice has gotten lower and calmer than upon the first arrival. Whether the specimen is actually aging or imitating the aging process is currently under review. Intellectual knowledge has also improved as it is capable of speaking both English and Burmese fluently although a faint accent can be heard at times. Even though the anomaly is a robot, it lacks any knowledge about technology prior to containment. On 04/26/15, researcher ███ ██ conducted a test consisting of various codes. Specimen quickly became irritated towards the test, repeatedly getting up from its chair to pace around before sitting back down, sighing each time.
Addendum .8:
SCP- is current status within the Foundation is being reviewed. On 12/24/18, SCP- had successfully escaped its containment chamber, dressed up as 'Santa' and proceeding to deliver hand made Christmas presents to other SCPs. SCP- knew how to access all rooms and moved around with little suspicion drawn to it. When reviewing footage, personnel can be seen conversing with SCP- as it distributed presents. Because of this breach, SCP- is to be isolated until a decision about re-classification is made. It is required to have Personnel force a feeding tube down SCP- throat so that SCP- does not terminate itself.
Addendum .9:
After being placed within solitude for two weeks, SCP- was released after morale seemed to plummet on Site 17. A decision was made for SCP- to remain as a 'Safe' classification. SCP- containment cell is to have surveillance increased, as well as a required bedtime of 10 P.M.
