Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: Due to the nature of SCP-XXXX and its proximity to the public, no plausible containment can be enacted as of yet. A house with full view of the area has been acquired and is to be manned with at least two researchers and four guards. The entrance to SCP-XXXX-1 must be locked with titanium chains no less than 4cm in diameter and a 4x6x2cm iron padlock when not in use. No civilians are to be allowed near SCP-XXXX, and any civilians seen in or near the immediate area must be apprehended and administered a Class-A amnestic before release.
Description: SCP-XXXX is comprised of two factors, SCP-XXXX-1 resembling a plain-looking storm drain outlet in ███ ██████, Iowa, and SCP-XXXX-2, the entity contained1 dwelling within. At the entrance of SCP-XXXX-1 is a large metal gate with the word “DANGER” welded onto its surface. Its interior appears to be a standard storm drain tunnel, with inlets at regular intervals. All attempts to locate the corresponding inlets on the surface have failed, which leads us to believe that SCP-XXXX-1 may be a spatial anomaly along with its other features.
SCP-XXXX-1’s anomalous properties do not begin to manifest until about 20m in, where subjects report that they start to feel a sense of unease, which develops as they move further inwards into a feeling of intense dread. At approximately 40m, all electronic signals are cut off, effectively blocking communication, and at 50m, all light sources will cease to emit, regardless of electronic nature. At this point what appears to be a red pair of eyes belonging to SCP-XXXX-2 can be seen further in the tunnel. Immediately after witnessing the “eyes”, subjects fall unconscious and seem to disappear, as all heat signatures and life signs are lost. They are not lost indefinitely, however, as they will reappear between 4-24 hours later, taped to a random light post within a mile of SCP-XXXX. Upon analysis, the “tape” has shown to be silk akin to that of a spider. Subjects recovered from SCP-XXXX appear to be unaffected and are unable to recall any of the time between their dis- and re-appearance, though they regard the experience with great fear and will repress the memory in most cases.
Little is known about SCP-XXXX-2, as any individuals attempting to observe it fall unconscious, and night vision & drones are rendered inoperable. No heat signatures have been obtained, though a heartbeat has been detected, suggesting that SCP-XXXX-2 is a living being. It is unknown whether the entity is trapped within SCP-XXXX-1, or is able to leave and simply chooses not to. It is hypothesized that if SCP-XXXX-2 were to ever leave SCP-XXXX-1, [REDACTED](See Addendum XXXX-2).
Note: SCP-XXXX was discovered on ██/██/20██, when a video surfaced of two individuals exploring the tunnel during a routine information sweep. One of the individuals was found taped to a light post the next day, and the other has yet to be recovered. Fortunately, the Foundation was able to swiftly take down the video and cover up the incident before it could reach local news. All civilians involved were administered a Class-B amnestic and released.
Addendum XXXX-1: Testing has revealed that any subjects that have already gone through are “rejected” by SCP-XXXX-2, materializing directly outside SCP-XXXX-1’s entrance less than 5 minutes after falling unconscious. The reason for this is unknown.
Addendum XXXX-2: During a test on ██/██/20██, a previously undiscovered letter addressed to “The SCP Foundation” was found by D-5132. They were immediately called back, and, upon delivery of the letter, terminated. The letter reads as follows:
"Dear Foundation, You really think you’re accomplishing anything by throwing prisoners into this thing and seeing what happens? I assure you, all you’re doing is feeding it. It may not seem like anything happens to the people it gets ahold of, but it takes something. That fucking thing takes a part of you that you don’t even realize you have. Every time you throw another bag of meat at it, it only gets stronger. And angrier. If it ever gets out, you’ll all be sorry you ever found it. Leave it the fuck alone or suffer the consequences. Signed, Someone who actually cares about the world."
