Child of Night

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a standard humanoid containment cell located on Site-19, decorated to resemble a playroom for a young child. Specimen is to be fed three balanced meals a day at scheduled intervals, and be rewarded with toys for desirable or cooperative behavior. Any instances of SCP-XXXX-2 is not to leave a ten (10)m radius of SCP-XXXX's containment cell for an extended period of time, and is not allowed within a 0.5m radius unless a tantrum event occurs. After a tantrum event is resolved, SCP-XXXX-2 is to be immediately be taken outside of the 0.5m radius.

Description: SCP-XXXX appears to be a Caucasian male child of approximately 3 years of age, measuring 0.75m tall and weighing 16kg. The specimen wears a t-shirt with the name "Luke" sewn into the tag. The name is also found on the tag of the specimen's trousers. SCP-XXXX does not appear to be very talkative, instead preferring to communicate through gestures, drawings, and crude handwriting.

Should SCP-XXXX not have formed any bonds and make physical contact with another human being (often done through playing the children's game Patty Cake), it will create a sort of bond with the one it touched, hereby referred to as SCP-XXXX-2 (see Test-XXXX-1). SCP-XXXX-2 will become increasingly affectionate towards SCP-XXXX, addressing it as Luke and acting as though they were one of the original parents to the specimen. This process takes approximately 25 minutes to occur. After this period, should SCP-XXXX-2 leave a 10m radius of SCP-XXXX's location, they will begin to suffer auditory hallucinations of SCP-XXXX crying. The longer the time spent outside of the radius, the worse the hallucinations become until, after 2 hours outside of SCP-XXXX's radius, SCP-XXXX-2 suffers from a fatal cardiac arrest (see Test-XXXX-4).

If, however, SCP-XXXX-2 is within 0.5m of SCP-XXXX, then they will do everything in their powers to try and harm SCP-XXXX, generally in a fatal manner. Should SCP-XXXX be injured by SCP-XXXX-2, then the latter will suffer the same wound. After thirty (30) seconds, any injuries sustained by SCP-XXXX will immediately heal, and appear as though nothing occurred. The exception to this is if SCP-XXXX is suffering from extreme emotional distress, known as a tantrum event. Should they be within the 0,5m radius, then they will try to soothe SCP-XXXX. Sixty (60) seconds after SCP-XXXX has calmed down, SCP-XXXX-2 will resume the usual violent behavior until taken outside of the radius.

Addendum: SCP-XXXX has been observed to only be able to make bonds with humans. Animals are unaffected by SCP-XXXX's effects (see Test-XXXX-3). It is also noteworthy that, only after SCP-XXXX-2 becomes deceased, then the next person touched by SCP-XXXX becomes SCP-XXXX-2 (see Test-XXXX-2).

Test Log-XXXX

Test-XXXX-1
Subject(s): D-09889 (A 32 year old male with a history of violence)
Test: SCP-XXXX makes physical contact with D-09889.
Results: Subject becomes slowly more affectionate towards SCP-XXXX, treating him lovingly for25 minutes. After that time, subject tries to harm the specimen before being forced away.

Test-XXXX-2:
Subject(s): D-09889, D-76970 (a 54 year old female)
Test: D-09889 is placed within 0.5m of SCP-XXXX, D-76970 placed within the same radius 25 minutes prior.
Results: Specimen makes contact with D-76970. No change in behavior is documented. After being placed in the radius, D-09889 viciously attacks SCP-XXXX, breaking its neck. At the same time, subject's neck fractures between the C2 and C3 vertebrae, killing him. Specimen recovers 30 seconds later and hugs D-76970 for comfort. D-76970 exhibits similar behavior to D-09889 had during initial exposure before being terminated as she attempted to harm SCP-XXXX.

Test-XXXX-3
Subject(s): One (1) canid (9 month old King Charles Cavalier spaniel)
Test: SCP-XXXX makes physical contact with canid.
Results: Canid response positively to the contact. No documented change in its behavior after 25 minutes.
Researcher's Notes: "So, he can't affect animals. May have to give the kid a dog when this is all said and done." - Dr Luffman

Test-XXXX-4
Subject(s): D-10823 (a 39 year old female with no history of heart disease)
Test: SCP-XXXX makes contact with D-10823, subject locked in a room 20m away before 25 minute mark.
Results: After being locked in the room, D-10823 was recorded trying to escape the room, claiming to, "hear Luke crying." Even after researchers confirm that SCP-XXXX is not crying, subject still claims to hear it. After one (1) hour, subject's ears begin bleeding. After another hour of recording, subject falls dead, later confirmed by autopsy to have been from cardiac arrest.
