Special Containment Procedures: At all times unarmed guards, operating under the alias of geological surveyors, should patrol the perimeter of the site. All unauthorised personnel who enter the site should be detained and given class B amnestics. Personnel who enter the tunnel should be assumed deceased. Under no circumstances should retrieval attempts be made. In the event that an unauthorised individual enters the tunnel a cover story should be disseminated through the local and national media if required. As of incident XXXX-02 no further testing or exploration of SCP-XXXX is to be carried out. See incident report XXXX-02.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a disused 19th Century railway tunnel located in the county of █████████, England. The tunnel appears normal from the inside and out with Gothic Victorian architecture created using non anomalous large cut granite stones native to the area. At some point a cave in has occurred making only one portal¹ accessible. Further investigation into the nature of the tunnel found no identifying marks to suggest when or by whom the tunnel was built. The anomalous nature of the tunnel was discovered after agents embedded within the ██████████████████ alerted the foundation to abnormally high reports of young adults residing in near by towns were reported missing within the vicinity of the tunnel. The total number of individuals lost as a result of SCP-XXXX is currently unknown.

A recovery team was dispatched to the tunnels location. Shortly after arriving, contact was lost with the recovery team. Contact was only re-established when two of the team egressed from tunnel. Details of this incident can be found in Incident Report XXXX - 01

MTF Zeta-9 ("Mole Rats") was dispatched to the area to conduct further exploration of the tunnel. The team was equipped with standard issue firearms as well as wired visual and audio devices to prevent loss of communication. See Incident Report XXXX-02.

After incident XXXX-02 no further exploration of SCP-XXXX should be conducted due to significant changes in reality caused by MTF Zeta-9's incursion. The effects of this event are unknown, however, it is has been sudgested by Dr. Philips that the reality within SCP-XXXX is connected with our own due abnormally high Hume readings within at the time of the incident.

Interviewed: Pvt Sanders

Interviewer: Dr. Bernard

Foreword: Interview conducted with Pvt. Sanders who was tasked with recovering SCP-XXXX. Throughout interview subject appears to suffer from PTSD. Other minor wounds are observable.

Dr. Bernard: Please can you take me through what happened when you arrived at SCP-XXXX?

Pvt. Sanders: We arrived at SCP-XXXX along what was once the track bed coming down the hill from █████████. As soon as we passed through the tunnel portal we lost all communication with control but instead of going back we carried on.

Dr. Bernard: Were you aware that you did not have any control over this decision?

Agent Cartwright: No, I felt normal. The only thought I had was to ascertain the nature of the SCP. My mind was completely blank to everything other than that thought almost as if it was instinctive.

Dr. Bernard: thank you. What happened after that?

Agent Cartwright: We carried on walking. We must have walked for hours but at some point everything changed

Dr. Bernard: How long do you think that you were in the tunnel for?

Agent Cartwright: Must have been 5 to 6 hours maximum.

Dr. Bernard: Did you spot the missing personnel whilst you were in SCP-XXXX?

Agent Cartwright: We spotted around five of them. They appeared to be around 18 years of age which seemed to be the common age of the navvies working in the tunnel. We asked them whether there were any other people. They indicated that the younger people had been taken to the near by coal mine due to their being below the age of 10.

Dr. Bernard: Thank you Agent Cartwright, that will be all.

Closing statement: It appears that SCP-XXXX is a portal that takes the subject back in time to the creation of SCP-XXXX. This is indicated by presence of navvies and the use of contemporary clothing for the time. A maximum of 6 hours were indicated to have past whilst in the tunnel, however, it took six days for the agents to reappear. This suggests that time in the tunnel moves directly proportionally to reality but appears to move slower. Additionally, GPS tracking indicated the agents were present in the tunnel, however, they seemed undisturbed by rail services. Further excursions should be made to ascertain whether it is possible to leave the tunnel and enter the outside world in the time period that the SCP exists.

+ Incident Report XXXX-02

Incident XXXX-02 was an excursion by five D Class personnel into SCP-XXXX.
They were equipped with GPS trackers, one handheld camera, communications devices, Kant meters, water, nutrient bars and a torch with 3 hours of battery life. Spare batteries were also provided to give 12 hours of illumination time.

The D Class were told to walk through SCP-XXXX and to report an anomalous behaviour on their journey. As with incident XXXX-01 the team travelled approximately half a kilometre before voices and tools could be heard. Abnormal Hume readings were also obtained during this period. Unlike the subjects clothing, technological devices were unaffected by the journey.

Subjects were forced into performing manual labour by whom was determined as the site foreman. Subjects were told to comply with all commands issued by contemporary workers unless instructed otherwise. During this period frequent explosions could be heard by research staff through the audio feed, however, no seismic readings were obtained.

After two hours in the tunnel (two days in reality) control instructed the subjects to attempt to leave the tunnel. They did this successfully, however, were quickly detained by site officials. D - 9284 became violent and resisted being restrained. During this period one of the site workers was fatally wounded by D - 9284. The subjects were ordered to re-enter the tunnel by site control. The subjects then remerged onto site ███. It is believed that this was possible due to the foreman instructing the navvies to "down tools" and therefore reopening the 'portal' to any foreign humanoid beings.

+ Addendum 21/08/20██

Addendum: On the guidance of Dr. Philips no more research missions should be conducted with SCP-XXXX. He believes this to be a justified measure due to the stark similarity between reality and the reality in SCP-XXXX and he therefore sites that any changes that investigations make in the SCP's reality could have a butterfly effect on the present day. His evidence for this is that on the day which incident XXXX-02 occurred public records indicate that a foreman was killed by a navvy outside the tunnel entrance. No other deaths were recorded on this day and abnormal Hume readings were recorded during the altercation. Therefore, the decision was made, by members of the 05 Council, to prevent all incursions until it can be confirmed that any exploration would not affect the reality of the present day.

It has been suggested that SCP-XXXX should be upgraded to Keter classification, however, it has been decided that as long as experiments remain ceased, this reclassification cannot be justified.
