Item #: SCP-3419
Object Class: Safe Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-3419 is an anomaly that affects every living thing in the world and simply cannot be contained. This anomaly known as the “3AM Syndrome” is caused due to the existence of a large number of other SCPs. It is evolutionary and containment is impossible, for it is simply a feeling. Experiments are done on this anomaly using animals such as dogs, cats, and mainly class D personnel, who are usually only recruited to be used in these experiments. These subjects will be put into a bedroom, a study, and a basement at 3AM and will be monitored completely. This means cameras, heart monitors, and voice comms.
Description: SCP-3419 “3AM Syndrome” is an anomaly like no other in the fact that its effectiveness rate in 100% and cannot be contained. This is an evolutionary anomaly that affects humans and other organisms such as dogs and other animals. The syndrome itself causes a very unique paranoia at around the time of 3AM. This paranoia is distinct in the fact that you can be in the most secure environment with lights on, doors locked, people around, and yet still be paranoid to the point of insanity.
The theory behind this “Syndrome” is that long ago, our ancestors knew about these anomalies that me now call “SCPs”. It was such common knowledge that we developed a fear of them, especially the ones that strived in the dark. The fear of SCPs caused us to gain a large paranoia during the darkest times of night, which explains why we can have such paranoia even in a friendly and safe environment.
The paranoia, usually taking place around the time of 3AM, causes things like anxiety, perspiration, and the feeling of being watched. If you begin to feel this paranoia, do not be alarmed. It is simply an evolutionary instinct of when there was not an SCP foundation keeping people safe. Experiment logs SCP-3419-1 and SCP-3419-2 have been put into this document to provide further description.
Addendum: After many tests and experiments, it has come to our attention that SCP-3419 is a threat to some humans. This is due to the outrageous number of suicides this SCP has caused over the span of 30 years. We are to believe that SCP-3419 is the leading cause in schizophrenia and other diseases that lead to insanity and suicidal thoughts. The experiment log provided will give further detailing on this decision.
Experiment Logs:
Log: SCP-3419-4
Agent ████ is in a bedroom with a queen sized bed, a television playing sitcoms, and all lights are on. The windows are also open, letting in a breeze.
<2:13> (Sitting in bed with covers up to his chin, noticeably scared) Hey, I know there are cameras in here. Can I go home now, this house is starting to creep me out.
<2:47> (He’s now sitting up, staring at the door of the room) Is someone there?! I can hear you out there! There are cameras! (Dr. █████ goes over the room’s intercom and informs Agent ████ that there is nobody in the house)
<3:00> (He’s now shaking violently, punching himself in the temple) Why can’t I sleep?! What did you do to me? What SCP is after me?! Tell me!
<3:15> He’s… He’s talking to me! He’s coming! Help! (The agent begins scratching at his ears)
<3:23> (Dr.█████ asks the agent who he’s talking about)
<3:25> SCP-106 appears to be an elderly humanoid, with a general appearance of advanced decomposition. (The agent is mumbling notes from his research on other SCPs that he underwent days before becoming an agent) He… He’s after me! (The agent stops shaking and stands)
<3:26> (The agent begins twitching) Don’t let him take me! (The agent jumps out of the window to his death while screaming)
