Closeup of SCP-XXXX.

Special Containment Procedures: Field Site "Helios-4" is established 1 km from SCP-XXXX-A in order to prevent civilian entrance to the area. Regular patrols via air and road are to be conducted to detect any incursion into the area. Any entities detected leaving SCP-XXXX-A are to be detained and interviewed if possible. In the event that any of these entities are hostile, they are to be neutralized and their remains examined prior to disposal.

SCP-XXXX samples are not to leave the on-site laboratory of Field Site "Helios-4."

Description: SCP-XXXX is a species of Helianthus¹ which is only capable of being grown and harvested within the area designated SCP-XXXX-B. This species of flower is distinguished from common varients of Helianthus by a larger floret (avg. 115 cm), red petals, and a typical height of 5m.

Following maturation, these flowers are capable of being processed into a rudimentary amnestic capable of being aerosolized². Amnestic effects are only successfully achieved within SCP-XXXX-B. A full description of short and long-term effects from exposure are given below.

SCP-XXXX-A upon discovery.

SCP-XXXX-A refers to a tent located 5km outside of Vincent, Iowa, USA. The tent itself is made of non-anomalous materials and appears to have been abandoned for several decades. Upon entry into the tent, one appears to exit from the tent into an area similar to the space surrounding SCP-XXXX-A. Within this space, one finds a number of tents of similar construction to SCP-XXXX-A within a walled off area measuring 400 m in diameter. This space is designated SCP-XXXX-B.

There are five total tents found here (labeled SCP-XXXX-B1 - B5) each appearing similar to SCP-XXXX-A and composed of non-anomalous materials as well as showing similar signs of degradation. Each tent contains equipment which has been used for the production and refinement of SCP-XXXX and entrances into an underground compound. This compound features five subterranean levels with accommodations for 2,000 persons, means of growing food, water filtration, and armories stocked with a variety of small arms and rifles. The compound has been determined to be an emergency bunker for the preservation of the local government as detailed below.

+ SCP-XXXX Production Cycle

Discovery

Based on recovered logs from SCP-XXXX-B, SCP-XXXX is a native species to their dimension. It was discovered during the initial exploration of the area by French settlers in 1701. Samples were collected for study at the time. However, upon reaching a point 3km from the discovery site, the flowers lost their original appearance and reverted to the common Helianthus color and size. On-site facilities were established by early scientists hoping to understand this phenomenon.

Due to increasing strain on relationships with local Native American tribes, these facilities were ultimately abandoned before any meaningful research could be concluded.

New facilities were not established until 1968 under the directive of the "Congrès des Conifères"³ of the "Nouvelle République du Sol."⁴ This appears to have been a government which had jurisdiction of the area surrounding SCP-XXXX-B and wished to weaponize the effects of SCP-XXXX.

Growth Cycle

Following germination, SCP-XXXX grows at an accelerated rate compared to other Helianthus species and reaches full maturity at 28 days. The plants fail to initiate any amnestic process in subjects by any methods until refinement and inhalation occurs⁵.

Refinement

1. SCP-XXXX florets are separated from their stalks during harvesting. Petals are then removed. The remaining florets are then ground into a fine powder.
2. This powder is processed using conventional chemistry equipment into a liquid which converts to a gas at temperatures over 5° C.
3. This gas is placed in canisters that are lined with liquid nitrogen in order to retain SCP-XXXX's liquid state. These canisters are then stored in under SCP-XXXX-B3.

SCP-XXXX-B Collapse

It appears that SCP-XXXX-B was initially established in order to increase the yield of SCP-XXXX and serve as an entrance into the compound beneath which was to serve as the new location for the Congrès des Conifères. The compound fell into disarray during a breach of SCP-XXXX containment causing it to leak into the compound's ventilation systems. This lead to a mass fugue state among all residents of the compound including the heads of state that resided within SCP-XXXX-B.

NOTES: MTF Eta-8 ("Freak Show") was equipped with positive pressure suits based on evidence of amnestic presence in the atmosphere around SCP-XXXX-A. Initial remote drone findings demonstrated that the entrance to the tent itself served as a gateway to an apparently stable, non-hostile dimension.

Helios-4 Coms.: This is base, we are good for audio and visuals, proceed with incursion.

Collins: Confirm good on coms. What did we end up getting back from the drone?

Helios-4 Coms: Drone demonstrated air contamination consistent with amnestic dispersion, so regular integrity checks on your suits guys. If anyone starts forgetting what they're doing, get em topside for an eval.

Collins: Acknowledged. Suits are good to go, let's hit it.

[Team proceeds through the entrance of SCP-XXXX-A and enters SCP-XXXX-B. Five separate structures are visible along with a field populated with SCP-XXXX.]

Jarman: I fucking hate the circus, if I see a clown they're getting laid right out.

Collins: You and me both. Confirm negative for any inhabitants, doesn't look like any one has been here for a while.

Helios-4 Coms.: Our analysis doesn't show that the amnestic is toxic, so keep an eye out for any lifeforms in those structures — we couldn't get drone access through those doors.

Blaylock: Check out the flowers over there [he gestures to the SCP-XXXX field]. Gonna get a few samples. Fuck they're tall.

[Blaylock is seen cutting down multiple SCP-XXXX and placing them in sample containers.]

Eddleman : Do we have an idea of where the amnestic contam is coming from?

Collins: Jarman, get on infrared and see if there's any visible sources for it. Meters are showing amnestic presence is a lot heavier on this side.

[Jarman's visual feed transfers to IR mode and multiple small plumes of gas are noted to be escaping from vents on SCP-XXXX-B3.]

[All team members confirm suit integrity.]

Collins: Good to go.

[Team progresses into SCP-XXXX-B3 where there are a number of computers, machines, and lab equipment. No power is apparently present in the structure.]

Eddleman: Welp, this isn't what I expected. Doesn't look like anyone took anything with em when the left.

Collins: Alright everyone, keep eyes out for any lifeforms. Odds are if anyone is in here breathing, they're not going to be very cooperative and a bit forgetful.

[Crackling is heard over an intercom system.]

Unknown Voice: Bienvenue les amis! Welcome travelers! How are we today?

Collins: Hello, yes, we are travelers, we are here to figure out what is going on in your tent here. Can you help us with that?

Unknown Voice: Surely! Come down to the fifth level and we can show you all that we have to offer here at the Circus of the Sun!

Jarman: Well that's fucking weird.

Blaylock: This all looks like where they were making the amnestic. Let's get some of this together real quick.

[Blaylock and Eddleman are seen collecting hard drives and canisters from around the lab.]

Collins: That should be good. Helios, do you want us to explore further or return with our samples at this time?

[Pause]

Helios-4 Coms.: Based on the safety profile so far you we want your team to continue site exploration and make contact with the entity that was on that intercom.

Collins: Understood. Let's get going.

[The team progresses through the compound to a stairwell that takes them to the first underground floor. A sign is visible that reads "LE STOCKAGE" at the entrance to the floor.]

Eddleman: Definitely got spikes on my amnestic readings here.

Processed SCP-XXXX storage area. A total of 283 cylinders are present.

Blaylock : Let's see what we have in here. Okay, looks like this is where they were storing the amnestic. Probably where we're gonna find our leak.

Jarman: Yep, IR is showing almost all of these fucking tanks are leaking.

Collins: Helios, are you wanting us to bring one of the safe canisters back?

Helios-4 Coms.: Negative, Captain. The samples from the lab should be good for right now. The only goal currently is contact with the native that you spoke with.

Collins: Gotcha. Alright boys, let's get moving. The guy said floor number five so let's find our way down.

[The team progresses further through the storage room and finds an elevator. They proceed to take it down to the fifth underground level.]

Collins: We don't know what we're in for so everyone keep on your toes.

Jarman: I swear to God, if it's clowns I —

Collins: Not now. Weapons hot.

[The elevator door opens into a large space resembling the inside of a circus tent. There is a single humanoid figure spinning about the room from a rope being held onto by its feet. The floor of this space is almost completely covered in SCP-XXXX.]

The entity known as The Premier.

The Premier: Welcome! We were expecting you! I hope you enjoy the show!

Collins: Hi! Who are you? Is there anyone else here?

The Premier: I am The Premier and this is the Circus of the Sun!

Collins: Okay, can you come down so we can talk to you?

The Premier: Sure! We can perform afterwards!

[The Premier proceeds to slide down and flips itself away from the rope landing on its feet.]

Collins: Let's go ahead and go somewhere a bit more comfortable.

The Premier : Sure! Lead the way. Normally I lead, but I like changing the pace.

The Premier: Oh yes, I feel like I can breath out here. I don't know how you stand that stale air in there.

Dr. Richards: And you're okay with these gentlemen watching over us while we talk?

The Premier: Certainly. If anything, I appreciate the company. Speaking of, I haven't seen my company in some time now. Those layabouts must have wondered off again. I can't tell you how much practice they've missed, all the shows and glamor. Truly a tragedy.

Dr. Richards: Can you tell me about the flowers we found in the room where you first met my friends here?

The Premier: Those are precious to me, very valuable. They are mementos from shows past.

Dr. Richards: What do you mean by that?

The Premier: Well, when you go on and perform and really send home the message the crowd showers you in their praise. Les oubliés⁶ need to have guidance and that was what I was there for.

SCP-XXXX Testing

+ D-Class Exploration Experiment

In an attempt to better understand the nature of SCP-XXXX-B, a group of three D-Class personal were sent through SCP-XXXX-A and instructed to explore the area. Determining the effects from exposure to the native atmospheric contamination were considered the primary goal. They were provided with standard exploration equipment (no weapons were provided).

Collected below are a selection of logs recovered that document a series of missions conducted by a team labled "LES OUBLIEES." This team was responsible for the application of SCP-XXXX in combat situations. Logs are presented below translated from French.

12/3/1972

Today will be the first use of the Blur. The Fourth Regiment will be focused on distracting the XXXX by engaging them along the northern side of the Appide Falls causeway and fireing artillery throughout the eastern portions of the city. My team is to enter along the western flank tonight and engage the Blur dispersion. Based on our weather reports, five dispersion points will provide coverage over 80% of the city throughout the night.

Currently the city has been under siege for 41 days. God willing this will be the end of this war.

13/3/1972

Sergeant Arsenault's handidly prepared two of the dispersion devices and my team was able to prepare our three with equal success. Following our rendeveau outside of the city, we intiated the devices. Our airships dispersed the pamphlets
