Two instances of SCP-5046-2 approximately 70% through the dissolution step of an amalgamation event

Item #: SCP-5046

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5046 is to be held in a standard Safe-Class container. SCP-5046 is only to be tested with the approval of Level-4 personnel or higher. No further testing of Mobile Task Force operatives is to be conducted unless by order of the O5 Council.

[To-Do: Flesh out this section with containment procedures for excess SCP-5046-2 liquid and SCP-5046-3 instances, with special instructions for SCP-5046-3.47]

Description: SCP-5046 is a teapot made in the kintsugi tradition, measuring 32cm x 32cm x 57cm. SCP-5046 possesses stylistic elements characteristic of ceramics made in 16th century Vietnam, although no other pieces bearing the mark of the potter are known to exist. Any liquid poured first into, then out of SCP-5046 becomes an instance of SCP-5046-1. If the same instance of SCP-5046-1 is divided and drunk by two humans (now referred to as SCP-5046-2), an amalgamation event will begin. An amalgamation event consists of the following stages:

1. Engagement: The two SCP-5046-2 instances become compulsively fascinating to one another. This stage can take multiple forms; one SCP-5046-2 instance may find its counterpart aesthetically attractive, while the other may feel incredible disgust. While emotional reactions experienced at this stage are hypothesized to have no bearing on the eventual success of the amalgamation event, insufficient data has been collected for meaningful statistical analysis (for significant factors, see Addendum A: Known Compatibility Factors).
2. Embrace: After some amount of time, the two SCP-5046-2 instances will grasp one another tightly. The duration and nature of this physical action differ greatly; most often the contact will occur as a sexual embrace after removal of clothing, or as an attempt by one SCP-5046-2 instance to kill its counterpart through strangulation.
3. Dissolution: As soon as the physical embrace has begun, the two SCP-5046-2 instances will become unresponsive and within minutes total breakdown of all cellular and extracellular tissue will begin. This stage is the result of an anomalous effect; chemical analysis of SCP-5046-1 liquid and dissolved SCP-5046-2 tissues has shown no acidic, basic, or proteolytic qualities.
4. Reassembly: After approximately one and one-half hours the SCP-5046-2 instances will have dissolved completely and cellular reassembly will begin. This stage takes a roughly equivalent amount of time, and results in a single instance of SCP-5046-3.

SCP-5046-3 are human beings approximately 70% of the combined height and mass of its two SCP-5046-2 progenitors. While they tend to possess unusual size and strength, SCP-5046-3 are believed to be non-anomalous. At the completion of an amalgamation event SCP-5046-3 instances are, without exception, free of any developmental abnormality and free of any hereditary disease that was not possessed by both SCP-5046-2 progenitors. However, issues can occur due to a lack of compatibility factors:

SCP-5046-3 instances tend to possess skills, memories, and physical qualities of both SCP-5046-2 progenitors, although these are often incomplete. See Testing Log SCP-5046-B.

[To-Do: Add log for Test #01, two guinea pigs whose resulting amalgamation is unpredictable and hyperactive. Add log for Test #07, two D-class subjects whose amalgamation dies terribly due to some disease they both unknowingly shared]
