SCP-5119
Item #: SCP-5119
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5119 is to be enclosed in an airtight glass case which is nailed atop a plinth. It is to be left at the end of a 8m long, well lit, steel hallway. It must also be kept 2m away from the back and side walls, as well as 2m away from the ceiling and floor (see Incident-Report 003). A security camera should be hooked up directly above the case, suspended from the ceiling. No further surveillance is required.
No physical contact is to be made with the artifact. If assistance is urgent, 2m Distancing Tongs are to be used to break the case and hold the object.
Description: SCP-5119 is a corroded, rusty razor blade. Since containment it has not begun to rust any further. Traces of blood and flakes of dead skin cells can be found on the blade. Any human male who comes within 2m of contact with the blade will begin to feel sharp, riveting pains in the forearms, thighs and throat - migraines often occur as well. The subject(s) will immediately begin to try to get hold of the blade - using brute force if needs be.
Whilst female subjects of all ages and backgrounds give no indication of being affected by the razor, male subjects, however, will begin to experience suicidal thoughts, and will immediately feel the need to self harm, or commit suicide using said blade. It is unknown whether the blade only targets men who have experienced these thoughts before, or whether it is applicable to all males.
If a subject gets hold of the specimen and begins to cut themselves, 2 female security guards patrolling the labs must be called immediately. SCP-5119 has taken 6 victims since its time in the facility. A female scientist - Dr. [CLASSIFIED] working at Site-██, Nevada, found the blade right by the doorstep to the entrance of the storage sector of the facility. Its origins are unknown, but it is believed to hail from around the first World War- and was likely made in the USA.
Of the 6 victims, all were aged between 20-41. One former Trainee Doctor - Jac[REDACTED] was subject to the anomalous item, but survived after being separated swiftly from the specimen. He was left with severe cuts to his thighs, which healed over a month period. This is the only survivor who has come within reach of the item. When pried away from the SCP he no longer experienced suicidal tendencies or thoughts almost immediately after being further then 2m away again. What has become of the man now, is unknown.
[Incident-Report 003]: A construction worker, repairing the maintenance tunnel 1-██ on June 14th 20██ came within 2m of the subject after he passed directly under the specimen whilst repairing disused tunnel circuits a floor below it. At this time, the containment cell for SCP-5119 only had a glass box on the floor, in which the razor was placed - thus closer in proximity to the maintenance tunnel which ran right below it. The worker was found roughly an hour after he had come within 2m of the item. Screams were heard from the nearby used tunnels, but locating his exact area proved difficult due to discontinued tunnels and dim lighting fixtures. When discovered, he was lying dead on his back with his fingernails torn to shreds and still wet to the touch with blood. A small gash was also present on the males head - above the hairline.
It is believed the worker tried to claw his way to the object from below, instead of making his way normally back to SCP-5119 ’s floor. Scratches and dents are found on the rusted tunnel ceiling. A female soldier at the facility discovered the body- requesting urgent assistance. Male doctors came in contact with the body after it was pulled from the tunnels. SCP-5119 ’s room was changed within the next week to appease this sort of event happening again. The other 5 victims all came accidentally close to the object when it was going through a testing phase. 4 scientists and one security member were subject to the anomaly at different days and times. They all broke the glass with their bare knuckles, and/or, shoes, and used the razor on their arms and thighs, 3 of which followed by using it on their own throat - dying instantly. The other 2 succumbed to their wounds later in intensive care in the next nearest site at █████████,██████.
