PRE-SCREENING
Procedure: Subjects were exposed to SCP-XXXX and their reactions were noted in order to choose subjects for RED-SKY Event testing. Selected transcripts of this screening process are below. Experiments were conducted by Head Researcher Dr. Emilia Carlson.
Candidate #1: D-3151
Still from instance SCP-XXXX-C14.
Dr. Carlson: We are going to play a video for you. If you feel anything out of the ordinary, we want you to let us know. Do you understand?
D-3151: Yep. Go ahead.
Dr. Carlson: Beginning playback now.
[Footage begins featuring a forest with hills in the background silhouetted against a bright blue sky with heavy cloud coverage.]
D-3151: All I see are some clo— wait, I…
Dr. Carlson: What is it?
D-3151: It's, it's like that feeling when my dad held me when I was a kid. Safe from whatever was going on outside his arms.
I haven't felt this way in a long time, doc. I miss it. I remember when I used to hang out with my brother and we would sneak some smokes from our dad and watch the clouds in the park by the house.
That dumbass brother of mine thought we were so tough, so cool.
He found out that trains can be a bit tougher.
Wait, it's over?
Dr. Carlson: That is the end of this experiment.
D-3151: Oh… Can I watch it again?
Dr. Carlson: We want to do further testing with these videos, so you'll get to see more of them.
D-3151: I'd like that.
Subject approved for RED-SKY testing.
Candidate #3: D-6454
Still from instance SCP-XXXX-A11.
Dr. Carlson: Beginning playback now.
[Footage begins depicting a field with mountains visible in the background. Distant cloud coverage is present.]
D-4981: How'd y'all know I like mountains? Nothing is gonna crawl out the TV right?
Dr. Carlson: We don't anticipate that, no.
D-4981: Well that's good.
I, uh, don't like this.
Dr. Carlson: What do you mean?
D-4981: I don't deserve it. That sky, man, I know that sky. It's the same blue as my daughter's eyes. I shouldn't get to see that again, not after what I did. I miss my baby. I remember when I'd go for drives at night trying to get her to go to sleep. Watching her face light up looking out the window until her little eyes couldn't take it any more. Fuck.
Like, it's — I'm not a poetic guy, but it's drowning me. Not, ya know, in a bad way though.
I can see that sky I saw when I was a kid going camping with my dad on our hunting trips. We'd be fishing for hours and everything was right in the world. Fuck I miss him.
Guys, I appreciate this. I needed it. This shit y'all do has been a lot on me, but today is a good day.
Subject approved for RED-SKY testing.
Candidate #7: D-4982
Still from instance SCP-XXXX-B21.
Dr. Carlson: Beginning playback now.
{Footage begins showing a nondescript foreground silhouetted against a light blue sky with a mixture of large clouds as well as thin clouds at a higher elevation.]
D-4982: Sunsets always get me. They're so beautiful.
Dr. Carlson: What are you seeing?
D-4982: The clouds look like blades cutting off the day, making way for the moon and stars to light up the world. The sun hanging on as long as it can and leaving its mark on the sky.
Dr. Carlson: Are you feeling anything watching this?
D-4982: I feel like I'm home. I had a west facing window at my grandparent's place and I'd love watching those oranges burn into reds and the blues growing darker and darker until the stars started popping in.
Dr. Carlson: Do you have any other memories that this is bringing up for you?
D-4982: The day my mom died. Cancer. She stayed with us as long as she could. That night I sat there watching the sunset and just cried and cried. It had been a rainy week, but that night it was clear. Not a cloud in the sky. Just watching the big blue fade away and that tiny point of light dim for the last time
Dr. Carlson: Thank you. That'll be all for today.
Subject approved for RED-SKY testing.
RED-SKY TEST #2
RED-SKY TEST #2
Subject: D-4982
Procedure: Subject received a dermal transponder implant capable of tracking his position. A body camera attached to a harness was secured to the subject and an additional implants were placed in the subject's brain which allowed us to communicate with him during the experiment without interference.
Results: While asleep on post-exposure day #22, the subject was translocated away from Site-51 indicating a successful RED-SKY Event. Video and audio log as follows:
[On 28/09/2020, the subject materialized at an altitude of 14,956 m over Shoshoni, Wyoming, USA (depicted in instance SCP-XXXX-B07). The experiment was conducted by Head Researcher Dr. Emilia Carlson and assistant Dr. Carl Schroeder.]

D-4982: What the fuck is happening?! I'm falling! What the fuck?!
Dr. Carlson: It's going to be alright. Tell us what you see.
D-4982: It's some town and trees and lakes and shit. Am I gonna die!?
Dr. Carlson: Don't worry. Is anything that is going on feel odd to you?
D-4982: I'm falling from the sky you asshole!
Dr. Carlson: I understand that. Is there anything besides that?
D-4982: What the fuck is happening to me?
Dr. Carlson: That's what we're trying to figure out. Our people are on the way to get you, don't worry.
D-4982: Stop telling me not to worry! That doesn't make me feel any better. This whole thing is your fucking fault.
This would almost be nice if I wasn't about to fall into the ground.
Dr. Schroeder: (To Dr. Carlson) He's now at free fall velocity. At this rate we expect impact in 4m30s.
D-4982: Hey guys, I, um, I'm starting to feel okay. I'm sorry about before. It's actually pretty soothing up here. Everything looks so small, so far away. How long is this going to last?
Dr. Carlson: It should be about four more minutes. How are you feeling?
D-4982: I'm good. I was worried at first because I thought I was still dreaming and now I'm up here falling through the sky, but it's all good now.
[Pause]
D-4982: Is this all because of those videos you showed me? I kind of felt similar when you showed me those.
Dr. Carlson: We think that is what is happening. Is there anything else you can see?
D-4982: Things just look normal up here. Actually, it feels like something is trying to hold me up here. Like my mom holding my hand keeping me safe.
I want you to know I'm not mad at you guys, I'm glad I got to do this.
Dr. Carlson: Our team will be in place to get you soon after you land.
D-4982: You don't have to do that, I'll be okay.
Dr. Schroeder: (To Dr. Carlson) Impact in 30 seconds.
Unknown voice: Everything is going to be alright. Don't worry.
D-4982: I missed you, mom.
[End feed]
Impact occured 4m50s after materializing. Recovery teams were successful in securing the subject's remains and transporting them to Site-51 for analysis.
Further testing is planned in order to understand the extraneous voices heard during RED-SKY Events.
