Item #: SCP-4219

Object Class: OmegaK

Special Containment Procedures: The retail park containing SCP-4219 inside Wal-Mart in Vandalia, Illinois has been purchased by the Foundation and converted into Site █ █. Roads surrounding the area are under 24 hour surveillance. SCP-4219 itself is monitored by at least ten personnel at all times and everyone having any kind of influence over, or contact with SCP-4219 including but not limited to visual or olfactory is traced, followed and placed under constant observation.

Caution: Under no circumstances are amnestics to be used. Termination of any observer is not possible and will result in the immediate execution of personnel monitoring those that interact with SCP-4219.

Description: SCP-4219 is a SHEPHERD BOX. Its current form is a Sterilite 116 Quart "Ultra Storage Box." This form is unique in that in no other historical record has a SHEPHERD BOX been clear. SCP-4219 contains two olives, SCP-4219-a and SCP-4219-b respectively. One six sided dice showing five pips on top, SCP-4219-c. A Westclox digital battery operated clock and the the numbers "5:00" showing constantly on the outdated red light emitting diode display, SCP-4219-d. A Ray-o-Vac Essentials Robust Rubberized flashlight, SCP-4219-e. A "Hot Wheels" Durant Chevrolet Series C Classic Six car, SCP-4219-f

Note: SHEPHERD BOXES mimic the universe surrounding themselves and SCP-4219 is no exception. SCP-4219 is a common item purchased at Wal-Mart. All items contained in SCP-4219 are mundane and could have been acquired from Wal-Mart.
SCP-4219-a appears highly distorted, as though it was moving or falling and may only be an aspect of SCP-4219-b which is stable on top of SCP-4219-d.
The light emitted from SCP-4218-e appears to have extended no more than 5 inches in a beam and shows no reflection off the surface of SCP-4219 despite being seen.

Incident: 4219-1: At 12:45 on ██/██/200█ a human female, a stocker working at Wal-Mart apparently deciding that whoever left SCP-4219 wasn't coming back for it, attempted to pick up and move SCP-4219. All cameras show the box moving slightly, the stocker disappearing, and the layout, colors, background and entire set of customers changing. External cameras show vehicles in the parking lot shifting spaces, entering or leaving and different times or becoming completely different makes and models. The automotive company "Durant" had replaced its name retroactively in time as "Chevrolet," apparently such that it had always and everywhere been "Chevrolet" and in clear view of external cameras as the internal cameras documented the "Hot Wheels" toy car become a "Chevy" Series C Classic Six as the cars outside reorganized themselves into "Chevrolet" model vehicles.

Note: Researchers theorize that under the Uncertainty principle it is possible to prevent the collapse of a wave indefinitely, but also accelerate its demise, without observation. This is why SHEPARD BOXES recovered in █████ ███████ and █████ ███████ and █████ ███████ have not destroyed or radically altered reality as we know it, except for slight █████ ███████ Pandora, but bones of such creatures still exist before the Permian–Triassic extinction event.

Although otherwise easily contained, essentially opaque SHEPHERD BOXES, as temporal/spatial/phenomenological anchors of reality, make reality warpers out of whomever opens and observes them with unknown, and unknowable effects other than derealization at a fundamental level.

With the appearance of a clear SHEPHERD BOX, there is no way of knowing not only what the effects are, there is no way of knowing what they have been as soon as the contents are observed. Disturbing the box in any way causes interaction with the contents, unlike an opaque SHEPHERD BOX, and creates effects as seen with various stock workers.
Therefore the box is best left unmoved and observed by a threshold number of disinterested observers who tether the box to consensual reality.

It is essential we find the prime observer, the person who initially placed the items in the box, in order to collapse the wave back into a collection of mundane object.
Anyone else who molests the box or interacts with it will alter reality. If opened, it could potentially destroy reality.
Personnel cannot move the box and should avoid even looking at it by themselves. At least three (3) observers at a time, the more the better, should be looking at the box if possible, if necessary.

(((According to the Zeno effect, an atom, if constantly measured, it would never emit a single particle of radiation.
For those of you who don't know much about Schrödinger's cat, here's the basics. According to the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics, a physical object, such as an atom, doesn't have defined properties until we measure them.

In response, physicist Erwin Schrödinger proposed a thought experiment. He argued that if that was true, we could put a radioactive material into a small container next to a Geiger counter, link the counter to a hammer, and put the hammer over a flask of acid ready to smash it the moment the atom decays.

If the whole thing is put inside a box with a cat, we can't measure the atom's properties, so as far as we know, the atom has both decayed and not decayed. As a consequence, the cat is alive and dead until we look.

This is the story most people have heard. But there's a twist.

In 1974, researchers wondered, "Does the lifetime of an unstable system depend on the measuring apparatus?"

In what has become known as the quantum Zeno effect, physicists ask what would happen if we constantly watched an unstable atom? Would it decay?

According to the Zeno effect, if constantly measured, it would never emit a single particle of radiation.)))

In the same way, the box is constantly mass observed which neutralizes any more coherent effects.
However the prime observer, the person who collected the objects and placed them in the box, has to be somewhere. He is entangled with the box. If his state and the state of the box are radically disturbed in different ways from each other, reality itself will collapse into an entirely different state.
And everything we've done since he put things in the box will change. Either revert to past events or radically alter.
