SCP-XXXX: Schlammwasser

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a standard containment cell at Site 19. Within the cell is to be a box with 92% or higher pure at least 10 square meters in volume. Within this box is to be 60% saltwater and 40% air. The salinity of this water must be between 2% and 2.5% for optimal living conditions. The general room temperature must be kept at a temperature of at least 17 degrees Celsius with no temperatures higher than 36 degrees Celsius.

Around the box is to be a trench with the dimensions of(at least) 0.5 meters across, 1 meter down and 5 meters long. This trench is to be filled with hydrochloric acid. The room in which the box is contained is to be devoid of all air conditioning and vents as to prevent airborne transfer if a breach were to occur. All personnel that enter are to where a hazmat suit unless instructed differently. Hydrochloric acid in aerosol form is to be available inside the housing cell.

There are to be weekly checks for the amount of SCP-XXXX in the water. If the concentrate takes up 12% of the water half is to be disposed of. New water will be added on a bi-weekly basis.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a carnivorous, bacterial lifeform found in waters with a salinity percentage higher than 2% and lower than 2.5%. Upon initial examination SCP-XXXX appears to be a dull brown puddle or blob that shows a distinct resemblance to a pile of diarrhea. When looked at under a microscope SCP-XXXX is far, far. The bacterium on it's own reproduces at a rate of one multiplication per three hours. However, once there is a large enough colony of SCP-XXXX parts(of the colony) begin to function as organs and the millions of bacterium begin to act as one organism, working together to survive. In Incident XXXX-c, SCP-XXXX developed ██████████ proving that SCP-XXXX, when in large enough numbers, can in fact become [Redacted].

SCP-XXXX kills its prey in a unique way. Upon contact with any other living organism SCP-XXXX will form an attachment that can only be broken through chemical reactions. Therefore there are no means of force that can remove SCP-XXXX. Once attached SCP-XXXX will begin to multiply at an alarming rate. The multiplication makes the infection spread across the victims body. This infection can be stopped through chemical means, but once the victim is more than 75% encased the point of no return has been reached. For strange and unknown reasons the head and face are always the last parts of the body to be enclosed.

Upon being fully encased, the victim is dissolved. Any flimsy, fatty or weak tissue is destroyed with exception of the brain. The skeleton, ligaments, tendons, teeth and brain remain intact as they offer no true sustenance for SCP-XXXX.

Addendum XXXX-a:
Subject Procedure(s) Results
D-10418 Long term exposure to SCP-XXXX, test for lethality. Time allotted: 8 hours After 10 seconds of exposure to SCP-XXXX the subject was infected. At time stamp 2:37:53 the subject broke into an intense fever of 40.44 degrees celsius. At 4:02:27 the subject was starting to show signs of psychosis and loss of bodily control. At times the subject would ram themselves into walls or yell gibberish like, “[Redacted], I can’t see you!” At time stamp 4:32:35 the subject was laying in a puddle of what appeared to be urine, blood and sweat. At 5:45:28 the subject was fully encased by SCP-XXXX, flatlined and was declared dead. Two class D agents in hazmat suits went into the room exactly ten minutes later and thoroughly sprayed the corpse down with hydrochloric acid. Once no trace of SCP-XXXX was detected general examination began. The skeleton, teeth, ligaments, parts of the brain and some small tendons were the only structures visibly intact. Test concluded.
Addendum XXXX-b:
Subject Procedure(s) Results
D-10372 Test to see if SCP-XXXX can be stopped through proper chemicals. Time allotted: 1 hour After being exposed to SCP-XXXX subject sits quietly reading [Redacted] in the corner of the room. Subjects heart rate and temperatures begin to rise slowly. At timestamp 0:30:00 two D class personnel entered in hazmat suits and with hydrochloric acid spray. After spraying the infection the two leave the testing cell. Subject monitored for twenty more minutes and then cleared of having SCP-XXXX. Subject given class-b amnestics, test concluded.

Addendum XXXX-c:

Subject(s) Procedure(s) Results
Two [Redacted] birds Test to see SCP-XXXX’s effect over a longer period of time and on a different subject than tests XXXX-a and XXXX-b. Time allotted: █ days Following initial contamination nothing occured for around two hours. Once the birds had been infected for three hours the subjects began to show signs of psychosis and insanity. One, dubbed ‘X’ began brutally pecking at the other bird, ‘Y’ repeatedly, almost to the point of death. After two more hours both birds had died and were now completely engulfed in SCP-XXXX. On day █ the bacterium had completely dissolved both birds and was beginning to compose itself into a what appeared to be a basic body. Over the course of █ days the colony was watched closely. On day 5 it began to move itself around and even let out faint noises. This new 'body' responded to stimuli and when guards were sent in to destroy it, SCP-XXXX [Redacted]. After various tests were run it was confirmed that SCP-XXXX had developed basic ██████████ and had possibly even achieved [Redacted]. Test concluded.
