Pictures of mine
Item #: XXXX
Object Class: safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-xxxx is to be contained within a lockbox sealed with a padlock. The room is to be sealed with a reinforced, lead-lined door and be monitored by surveillance cameras with cognitohazard filters installed. SCP-xxxx is not to be opened or manipulated unless approved by (2) level 4 personnel for the purposes of testing. Any testing carried out will be done with no less than 4 security personnel present (2 on each side of the door) and the door sealed. In the occurrence of a XXXX-B event, video feed is to be terminated if necessary and doors are not to be opened until 05 clearance.
Description: SCP-xxxx is a black featureless photobook that is 35x30x[REDACTED] cm in size, [REDACTED] in weight, and has [REDACTED] pages.
The book will contain pictures relating to the subject's life, past, present, and immediate future. The pictures themselves show a tendency to be of people or places encountered in the subject's life (or eventual encounter), though one or two pictures on each page will be of a person with holes where their eyes should be. These pictures will have no relation with the subject (See addendum A). Each page has a number that relates to each year of the subjects life. All pages that go beyond a subjects life will be blank.
SCP-XXXX shows mild sentience as it tends to show more pleasant pictures to those who handle it with care and more distressing pictures to those that don't. Pictures have been observed to change as the user damages the book, the aforementioned "unfamiliar faces" becoming more and more distorted and appearing to scream at the subject. Any damage to the book disappears once someone else touches it.
ADDENDUM A: Initial testing of SCP-XXXX by on site personnel has found that the book's somewhat "fortune telling" capabilities in showing pictures of a person's future has negative consequences. Should a person see pictures of their future and then want to change their future for whatever reason, they will then be absorbed into SCP-XXXX and a picture of them will be found later by another subject albeit with their eyes missing. This has been classified as a XXXX-A event. Further testing is to be carried out by class-D personnel only.
Testing done with Class-D personnel has continued and XXXX-A events have notably fewer occurrences when subjects are informed of them, but are found to be certain should they see a picture of their death. A XXXX-A event will also occur should any part of SCP-XXXX become damaged. The amount of damage needed this way becomes smaller with each occurence.
ADDENDUM B: During one test a Class-D personnel was given SCP-XXXX who began to roughly handle it. After turning to page [REDACTED] and nearly ripping it out, an instance of SCP-2774-A formed in one of the slots. [REDACTED] staff members were affected including the subject. This has been classified a XXXX-B event. Requests to reclassify to euclid have been denied and the current containment procedures have been put in place. Further testing is advised to handle the SCP with utmost care for risk of the object "Retaliating".
